Afternoon all! I just noticed this morning that my 8.5 now bongs whenever the speed limit changes. I'm sure I've never noticed this before - has there been a software update or something? As an aside, I accidentally switched off the speed limit warning for the first time in ages this morning when trying to switch off the lane departure warning. I switched it back on again so I'm wondering if this had something to do with it?

Hello all! So my car has developed an annoying rattle ('25 R Black). It sounds like it's coming from the front right of the cabin somewhere, but it's so hard to actually pinpoint it as with any rattle in a car. I've taken all loose items out of the door pockets, glove box, arm rest cubby etc and it's still there. It's most obvious on broken road surface (so everywhere I drive these days then!). Does anyone have any suggestions for common causes or should I be taking it into the dealer for them to investigate? Thanks!

Yeah it was an audible one that said "remember to take your mobile phone" or words to that effect. I'm now wondering whether I dreamt this or not...

Morning all. One morning last week, as I was getting out of the car it reminded me to take my mobile phone with me. This was suprising and very useful, and up until then I'd never heard it despite often having my phone in the wireless charger. However, it has never repeated this warning and I'd very much like it to! How do I switch it back on?

An addition to my question! The post-service health check showed that my NSF tyre is wearing more quickly than the others. A quick Internet search tells me that that’s normal for left hand driving countries, but I was thinking that it might be a good idea to ask a local garage to rotate the wheels - is that a good idea? My thinking is to rotate the front wheels only (the rears are wearing much slower) and then later this year get them to rotate the rear wheels with the fronts. Does that sound reasonable?

Hi all, new question here (hope this is the right place!). I’m taking my car in for its first oil change this week and the dealer is trying to sell me an “engine clean and fuel line flush” service for £40. Is this needed/worth it? The car has done 8,500 miles if that helps. Thanks in advance!

So today I absent mindedly applied the EPB while the car was still doing about 1-mph and I hadn’t come to a full stop on the drive. Cue a large grinding noise and a few bongs chiming. All is well but then the intrusive part of my brain wondered what would happen if I applied the EPB while doing say, 20mph. Thankfully the rest of my brain told me that was a stupid idea. But the question remains- what would happen? Does anyone know? Surely there is some wheel speed sensor somewhere that wouldn’t allow it to come on…

Looks like painting might be the way forward. @Booth11 how long did the paint last for you? Is it a one-and-done thing or does it require re-application periodically?

Hi, is anyone else noticing that the middle part of their rear brake disks is getting super rusty? Not the disc itself, the bit in the centre that sticks out a bit (the bell?). It’s not happening to the front discs, just the rear.

Hi All, hope this is the right place to post this. It seems I got a stone stuck between my rear passenger brake disc and its pad, and it has left a score line in the disc. Do I need to get this replaced?

I suspect something is wrong with your exhaust then - I get plenty of pops and bangs on the over-run. A few in race mode but particularly in special mode.

Does the "Internet Radio" function work for anyone here? The car is checking into the app and sat nav traffic etc are working so I'm pretty confident the SIM is working OK, but when I choose the "Internet Radio" option on the infotainment screen it just sits there looking all blank and confused...

Thanks! I always listen out for it and the failure is a semi regular occurrence for me. I spoke to the dealer about it and they said that it does chirp at all (so under the same impression that the previous poster was) but it definitely does!

Has anyone noticed that the walk-away locking "chirp" that the car emits if you have keyless enabled doesn't always fire? The car always locks (as evidenced by the door mirrors folding and confirmed in the app) but the "chirp" doesn't always sound.

Darn, I'd quite like the display to change automatically. Seems a weird thing to switch off though doesn't it?

Hi All, I’ve just been watching a golf R YouTube video (about a Mk 8 admittedly) and when the guy switched to race mode using the “R” button the digital drivers display automatically switched to the “R” view with the rev counter at the top. My mk 8.5 doesn’t do this - does anyone else’s mk 8.5 do this or was this feature deleted?

What PPF product did you use? Did you fit it yourself? Sorry for all the questions but I’m super interested in doing this too.

I noticed this too! Apparently there’s no non-return valve fitted which means the fluid drains all the way back into the bottle rather than staying in the pipe - it’s better in deep winter as it’s less likely to freeze, but it’s annoying for the other 48 weeks of the year…

Not sure if this has been mentioned before, but I've found a way of switching off the various "assists" which, for me, is the easiest way yet. I changed my digital drivers display to the "Assists" view (round dials with the distance to the car in front in the middle). I can then use the left arrow on the wheel to enter the assist menu and then select the relevant option and hit OK to switch it off. I find this way easier than having to take my hand off the wheel to use the screen, even after I set up a new home screen with an Assist shortcut button.

Not sure if this is the right place for a wish list post, but I really wish you could have different data in the left and right slots depending on the digital cockpit view that’s in use. For example, I don’t really care about torque distribution and temperatures when I’m in the Satnav view, but I’d be really interested in these when I’m in the “R” view with the rev counter and gear display…

Does the little bar and flag ever progress further than this? Not sure what the point is otherwise!
