  1. As a follow up, can I ask what colour paint is on the underside of the bonnet of your 8.5R. My replaced bonnet has been painted (base colour, no lacquer) on the underside. I’m sure the original factory fit bonnet had a matt black finish on the underside. Thanks.
  2. Hi all My Golf R 8.5 estate (2025) has just been returned from a VW dealer following some mechanical work. Whilst it was in their care it was involved in an accident (dealer fault) which caused £8.5k of damage (new bonnet, driver side wing, headlight, bumper etc). it has been collected by me today and all seems in order but I think that some soundproofing hasn’t been replaced under the bonnet. Could anyone help by posting pics of the underside of their bonnet so I can compare please. Hatch or estate of the same model year will suffice. Many thanks.
  3. Spiders for me, ladybirds for you, these small creatures need to know their place! 😂
  4. Sounds a bit extreme but I’ll ask the local policeman for some! Oh, hang on, you said pepperMINT… 😂
  5. Hopefully our now even rarer 8.5R estate will have a really good trade in price when it’s time to change in a couple of years time. Although I’m really struggling to think of anything similar to replace it with as estates of this type seem to have become very unfashionable due to the ridiculous popularity of SUVs.
  6. Thanks @dv52, the web (and hopefully the resident 🕷️) has been 👋🏻 goodbye and the car seems to think all is well with the world again. I’ve ordered a KEEP OUT sign and will place it on the drive in front of the car. Hopefully that will do the trick. 👍🏻
  7. Thanks @Hawaii-Five-O the errors have cleared and not reappeared. Glad (in a strange way…) that others seem to experience the same and so it may not be a ‘real’ fault, but just a temporary glitch. The 1st line IT call centre approach of “switching off and on again” seems to be the way forward! 😂
  8. Hi all. I’ve gone to use my 8.5R today after almost 8 months of trouble free use and upon start up 4 warning messages have appeared - Error - drive system (visit workshop) Error - start/stop Travel assist currently unavailable Error - ACC After cleaning a cobweb from the front sensor (the one that monitors traffic etc), switching the engine off and leaving it for an hour, the messages have cleared themselves. Has anyone else experienced this message/combination and the clearing of messages without intervention? On a related matter, I contacted VW in Swindon (the nearest Group 1 dealer to Bristol) to book this in to be looked at and I was horrified to find that there would be a charge of £35per day (Enterprise) to get a courtesy car to keep me on the road for the 2 days they would need the vehicle to diagnose/fix. If I wanted a £15per day car provided by the dealer I’d have to wait until late December for an appointment! The booking line advised that I should discuss whether this can be reimbursed with the dealership upon drop off. I cannot believe that I’ve spent £45k on a car, a warning message has appeared that has told me to take it to a dealer to investigate, they have told me they will need it for 2 days, and I have to pay to keep me mobile! Hardly customer centric behaviour… Have others experienced this and if so, were you successful in getting the dealer to cover the courtesy car cost? (I’ve left the booking in place for the time being, in case the errors appear again. I will cancel if they don’t…) Thanks for any advice.
  9. I might buy a warning triangle so it doesn’t look like there is a piece of trim missing! Could I trouble you for the cost cost and the part number?
  10. Thanks. I knew someone on here would able to help. 👍🏻
  11. Hi all. I’ve noticed that the rear hatchback door of my new 8.5R ESTATE has this ‘hole’ in it, which exposes some of the wires which presumably feed the lights/wiper etc. Does this look the same for other people with the same model,or ami missing a piece of trim? Want to check what other have before contacting the dealer. Thanks for any help. 👍🏻
  12. Welcome to the R 8.5 estate club! We went for blue and took delivery on 1/3, but those pics, well I’m really liking it in white. Hope you’re enjoying it and going careful during the running in miles. 👍🏻
  13. Let the dogs in. Everyone and everything should enjoy it. 👍🏻😂
  14. Looking great. IMHO the only colour to have. Goes so well with those alloys. We are very pleased with ours. Welcome to the Lapiz R estate club. 🤝
  15. What a shame. Ruined a day you’ve been looking forward to for a while. ☹️
  16. Not the end of the world for trundling around town. 👍🏻
  17. Loving it so far. Infotainment/manual buttons aside ( my last R was a 7.5 hatch in black), which I will need to spend some time exploring, it’s like welcoming home an old friend. What I love about the R is that it’s such an easy everyday drive, but if you want a bit of oomph it’s also more than capable. 👍🏻 My other half drove it this morning and she’s already worried that people are looking at it… It’s bright and sunny in Bristol this morning though and the colour is something to behold! Oh, and it rumbles a bit on start-up, which might also turn a head or two! 😂
  18. Home from Exeter. Light fading, but you can make out what it is. Lovely drive, so smooth. The ultimate wolf in sheep’s clothing. A Marchian collection on 1st
  19. Why thank you. Will post a couple of pics in the appropriate thread after collection. 👍🏻
  20. 24 hours from now my better half and I will be in Exeter VW picking up our Lapiz R Estate…. 🎉
  21. What is the difference between the first line and the second (quoting M&S)… Can anyone explain? Thx.
  22. I believe it’s tax avoidance rather than evasion… 😂 All perfectly legitimate you know. 👍🏻
  23. My rescue greyhound is looking forward to lounging in the back, going at speed, but not having to do any running! 😂👍🏻
