  1. I've finally had the first of a batch of handling mods (phase 1) installed on my R and will be testing them out this track season. I'll report back on results as and when I have some. First things to note. Feels A LOT stiffer with those bushes. The ARB's should stop the little understeer i was getting. The car isn't lowered, so i haven't messed with that yet. fitted parts include.... H&R Front (27mm) and Rear (24mm) Anti Roll bars 034 Motorsport Adjustable droplinks all round Powerflex Handling pack poly bush kit, (both front wishbone bushes, rear trailing arm bushes, lower engine mount insert) 034 Motorsport subframe deadset collar locking kit (prevent subframe shift) All new stretch bolts for the above where required. Alignment done just today The mechanic did a decent job of fixing the geometry back inline with factory settings with the exception of the front nearside wheel. As we all know the standard suspension on these R's means you cannot adjust camber or caster at the front, so the only thing I can do is look at replacement top mounts or perhaps coilovers that come with their own adjustable top mounts. As its a fast road/track car, the aim here is to bring the front offside wheel up to the same negative camber as the nearside or possible a bit more. The rear camber seems fine at -1 deg 44 (which is like -1.75deg due to unit in degrees/minutes). With the previous values, would explain why the rear felt a bit sketchy as the car was tending to crab, especially due to the thrust angle being off centre. Coilovers will be handling phase 2 BBK handling phase 3 then maybe revisit phase 2 engine power. All in good time though.
  2. I spoke to a technician in VW today who explained to me that any wheels alignments must now be done by VW, as they will also need to incorporate the alignment of the ACC. Aligning the wheels without doing the ACC will result in the vehicles tracking being off. How much is this service from my local VW? £450. Four hundred and fifty pounds. Unless i get to take the wheel alignment equipment home with me at the end of it, i find that a little extortionate. And apparently no-one else in the north of Ireland can offer this service but VW. So, i was wondering if anyone who had recently fitted springs/coil-overs to there cars if they had any issues after having there cars realigned. Any steering wheels sitting even a few degrees of center when going in a straight line.
