  1. So I noticed some higher temps than usual on the display when on my way home from work, driving pretty normally. Popped the bonnet, and noticed my coolant level has dropped (still above the minimum line). I’m unable to observe any leaks as it’s always raining this time of year. A little concerning considering the Age and mileage of the car. Any ideas?? My car was in at VW on the 20th of December for a Haldex service & Brake fluid change. Nothing was reported at the time. I sure hope it’s not a thermostat/water pump failure…I’ve only owned the car 3 months…:/
  2. Hi everyone, Following on from my post on an older thread, I need a bit more help. I am going ahead and changing the heater matrix on the golf. A few things I need help with: 1) It appears that there are 2 possible options of matrix, Denso or Valeo and I need this info to be able to order the correct item. Is there any easy way to confirm or check the matrix brand without pulling it out? Both footwells are stripped and open. I ask the above because, after speaking to TPS and VW dealers near me, there is a backlog for the part for up to 7-10 days. If I have to pull the matrix out it’s just extra work and will have to be put back as the car will be needed over the next 7-10 days. If it’s the only way, so be it. 2) This brings me onto the next question, I always try and aim to use genuine parts where I can. However I need to get this fixed ASAP, with the cold weather we currently have, it’s difficult for my other half who’s car it is, to use everyday. Would you recommend any of the aftermarket brands sold by ECP or another supplier? I believe they only have the Nissen and AVA brands as the Denso and Valeo equivalents respectively. If you have any suggestions of where I can source a matrix or advice or that these are a no go, please let me know. 3) Lastly, is the quantum purple coolant or ECP triple qx as good as or the same as G13? Is there any benefit of using say the G13 over the quantum stuff as VW use plenty of quantum fluids themselves and I presume it’s essentially the same. 4) One more cheeky question, you recommend I change the expansion tank at the same time? I was leaning more on the change it. Appreciate the help! Many thanks
  3. I am getting the waterpump changed on my Mk7 5 door R later this month. How much premix G13 coolant do I need? Was going to drain the whole system and replace with new. Thank you
  4. Hi! I would like some guidance on how the coolant should behave in the expansion tank. Few weeks ago, my car received a new water pump due to leakage. After that change, my coolant never goes above the min line unless I unscrew the cap when the car is warm. It then gets up to max when vented, but a few hours after when the car has standing still goes back to min and stays there until I vent the tank again. Is that considered normal behavior? To me it seems like the tank does not hold the pressure? Thanks in advance!
  5. Had the low coolant warning light come on this morning in rush hour traffic!.. I got to work and couldn't see anything obvious, after checking this lunch i noticed the coolant pipe to the right hand side has rubbed on the airbox fin and has worked it's way through. Off i went to VW Leeds, after a lot of toing and froing they opened another customers bonnet where i looked and saw that this seem to be unique to my car as the other R DSG had around 1cm space. Question is.. is yours rubbing or have you got a gap? it looks like my rad could have moved back or the pipes twisted somehow.
