GaryP
Had a really annoying buzz/vibration that I believe to be coming from the centre console, which seemed loudest from the 2 air vents in it. The buzz even occurred when just coasting and only really when the road surface was a bit poor. However, on Monday on my 70 mike commute I never heard a thing. I thought it may have been down to Driving Mode and the fake soundy thing, but cycled through loads of settings and it still didn’t surface again. Starting to wonder if the bonnet had not been down properly and it was that causing the buzzing sound. I’d had bonnet up over weekend trying to see if anything obvious was causing the buzzing/rattling, so maybe had closed it properly that time. Also had lifted and replaced the Dipstick, but doubt that could have been it. Got it booked in to the Dealer in a few weeks but worried they’ll only make it worse if they start removing the dash and stuff around it. It’s holding me back fitting a few toys as no point before going in to Dealers. If it doesn’t do it on my 70 mike return on Friday think I’ll cancel the Dealer and the mods fitted!! Anyone else experienced this on a Mk7.5 yet?? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
CoyleR
When you say the centre console are you referring to the vents at the back of the armrest or the vents on the dash in the centre?I'm getting a really bad rattle / vibration from the armrest vents. Going into the dealer on Tuesday for first service and have asked them to look at it, also worried about them messing around with it!Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
GaryP
I mean the Vents on the dash. Doesn’t/Didn’t go away with any adjustment of vent, or pressing on/around the vents. Really hope it’s silent on Friday drive home, but preparing for 70 miles of buzzin (no G..!)Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
CoyleR
Ah ok, a little different to my issue so. Hope it sorts it's self out for you. Certainly don't like the thoughts of a dealership pulling out the dash! Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
JoeGTI7
You might be onto something re under the bonnet. I remember in my R I had something similar and it did seem to be coming from the dash. But one day I was topping up the washer fluid and I noticed that the scuttle panel (the plastic trim under the wipers) looked a bit loose and the rubber seal around it didn't look too secure either. So I poked at that a bit and re-fastened a couple of loose-feeling clips... removed the rubber seal and re-fitted it. I never heard the buzzing noise again... E-V-A-N-S
A common issue with these cars is the soundaktor rattling. Mine does it too. It is like a rattly buzzing sound from the centre of the dash, which is where the soundaktor is situated. If you remove the scuttle panel under the bonnet its in the centre behind it. I used to hear the noise more when pulling off or accelerating away. Obviously its louder when the car is in race mode as the soundaktor is at 100% then. Here’s a topic on how to sort the soundaktor rattle. GaryP and ringy

Probably was vibrating off the loose scuttle panel and when I secured the scuttle panel, the buzzing stopped...

I don’t fancy that job myself, warranty will cover that for me! Trust it to be so hidden away!!Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
GaryP
I've diagnosed my buzzy rattle..!!!!! Its the casing around the bit behind the rear view mirror, which I think is part of the rain sensor? Any, whatever it is, if I even only lightly touch it whist the buzzing is underway, it stops the buzzing. Here's a pic of the bit I mean: Its the upper part of this that goes up to the roof lining that seems to be buzzing. Does not feel too loose, but you can even feel it buzzing when its at it. Maybe there is something inside it loose. Not sure how to fix it though. Going to pop in to the supplying Dealer tomorrow and let them have a quick look. So relieved tho that its this and that they're not going to have to start removing Infotainment System/Air Vents etc. Swear bling tho that the noise sounds like its coming from the air vents. Funny (annoying) how sound does this to your head!! Massive thanks to everyone on this forum who's discussed Buzzy Rattles in the cabin, as a few pointer from other members and some searching in this forum led me to investigate around the rear view mirror area! Hopefully this helps a few others out. ringy
E-V-A-N-S
Glad you found it mate, not much worse than an annoying squeek, rattle or the like in your car. GaryP
GaryP
So relieved that the Dealers are not going to have to start removing things in the hunt for it! Would have prob come back worse!! Found the love for my new'ish car again which is great. E-V-A-N-S
GaryP
So car was in yesterday for a Warranty covered replacement of the trim sections behind the rear view mirror. Covers the Rain/Light sensor.70 mile journey that afternoon and not a squeak or buzz. Hopefully that’s it sorted!!Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
