Redline clutch slip 'design feature' ?

Hi folks - new here.  Just bought an Mk7 R (something i've liked for a long time, but not familiar with). It's terrific to drive of course.  Completely stock, perfectly clean, 2016 manual with 75k miles.

I got it from a dealer and had a full PPI done on it by a tuning house and all looked good (they did not drive it however because of insurance issues or some such).

The first time I drove it however, I put it through it's paces and noticed what i thought was some high rpm clutch slip.  I sent it back to the dealer and they took it to an Audi service shop, and the report coming back is that the redline clutch slip is perhaps intentional on this vehicle, so as to avoid a hard run up against the red line limit.... (? huh).  Seems odd to me.  It doesn't prevent or interfere with normal driving of the car - i have no intention of driving it super hard or tracking it.

The suggested 'fix' is apparently a stage 2 clutch and tune (which may come, but we'll see).  I'm curious if anyone here (enthusiasts) can verify this 'design feature', or if in fact it really is traditional clutch slip.  I've not been able to find any info regarding this issue for this vehicle, but apologies if it's been covered here somewhere previously....

Thanks!

Poor excuse dealer is definitely swerving a replacement its not a design feature the clutch on the manual Mk 7 is known to be weak and its showing signs of wear, its done really well if its still the original at 75k

Never heard of Redline Clutches on this forum tbh.

Usual upgrades would be to fit either Sachs  Sports Clutch , Helix or go for Paddle Clutch which isn’t great for road use and is normally installed for above stage 2.

Id be insisting the dealer coughs up for a new clutch as it sounds obvious it was like this at point of sale and is not normal on a Golf R manual box.

If it is clutch slip and it sounds likely, you should notice most in a high gear, high torque, low rpm test. Get them to test that!!!  4th gear WOT, low rpm.

There's lots of upgrade options as outlined above people use successfully.

Be aware though, with increased clamping force comes more risk of crank walk and thrust washer failure which can result in crank and block damage. There's a few threads of that happening on these forums and others.

A new standard clutch should resolve the fault one would think. And give decent service if you are thoughtful of the limits...
