  1. Hi all, It eventually happened. A Cadiz wheel got kerbed. I've seen maybe 3-4 Golf Rs in the Glasgow region so was hoping someone might know a decent place to get it: fixed quickly; fixed well; and fixed without costing a wad? Cheers! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. I've downloaded two series of shows and used a very decent amount of general Internet and streaming video today and I'm still at about 75% power. Decent. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  3. It would actually fit if it wasn't for that ridiculously overside black connector. So annoying. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  4. No, I got the standard Nav so never really bothered. I prefer the use interface as it gives album artwork and playlist access. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  5. It don't fit so good in the cubby hole! Tried a friend's iPhone 6 and it fits fine. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. I actually turned mine on, on a hot day - an accident. The central screen started flashing me warnings saying I could damage the element and i should turn it off. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. I've had 41mpg on a drive from Glasgow to St. Andrews and back. Suspect I was helped by holiday drivers not doing fast enough on the country roads. All in though, I'm getting 30mpg, say. Don't bother with Eco now, unless stuck in traffic. Lower than I expected based on VW's claims but I'd seen an article stating getting 20% less than stated is the norm. This is 25% with a heavier foot. I can live with it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Great photo and car! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. I like how the colour has a textured effect.
  10. Obviously Chris Harris has gone behind a paywall but the short version is here:
  11. I think, on the basis of streaming from other apps like SoundCloud it's possible. You get pause, play and ski forward and back.
  12. I can't bring myself to try and read it as it's all centre aligned - that's pretty horrendous to look at - like a 5 year old built it ;-)
  13. Can only speak for iphone 5 - but yes i can view and scroll through all playlists, artists etc on my phone via the media screen. It doesn't show you the playlists if you are bluetoothing - only if you use cables or SD cards.
  14. I do have plenty of grip. like lots. More than I've ever had before. Haha, great response ;-)
  15. Haha, I have exactly the same feelings. Wish they'd go away ;-)
  16. Only doing little things: 1) the interior lighting - love it. 2) if you press Nav again, while in Nav, you get music controls and album artwork on top of the Nav screen. Very handy. 3) the fact the mirrors fold when locking, so I know I've locked the car.
  17. Looks like Night Blue as well! Possibly not. Sad as it is but I recognise the same registration of the one in autocar reviews etc and that was Lapiz. Suspect it's the lighting makes it look night blue.
  18. I think this is from the VW configurator you get in Europe. Yeah, that's not a photo.
  19. Drive review (Chris Harris) coming soon. See 58-59 seconds in for a glimpse of a sideways R :-)
  20. Seems like he'd air con on in the manual and it's a 5 door (about 20-25kg heavier). Pointing this out for purposes of differences between real acceleration compared to VW's quoted, nothing to do with DSG. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. I find Eco lagging in comparison to Race or even Normal. Don't know about comfort and don't have DCC. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Again, purely personal. I have driven automatics and found them boring but I can understand why people would like them especially if they commute. The old TV analogy is daft though. If you think it's a problem of old technology then does that mean when the GTE comes out you'll stop getting a petrol car and get that instead or get a more modern Nissan Leaf or Renault Zoe? You are driving a vehicle with a 100 year old engine after all ;-) Additionally, the remote point is silly as there is nothing fun about getting out your seat to change channel but it's well documented that changing gears is fun. EVO's review of the GTI said they were glad they got the manual car. It is personal - not a question of modern or not modern. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. Manuals, like the petrol engine itself, are going the way of the dodo so I'm going to keep getting them till I don't get the choice anymore :-) I love mine, personally. On country roads up to St. Andrew's (when traffic allowed) it was just so, so much fun (saw a white Golf R as well). Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
