  1. Had my R 3 years at the end of this month and the only thing I regret not ticking is DSG. I spend most of my time in the car to and from work which is mainly traffic heavy motorways where DSG would have made this alot more comfortable. When combined with adaptive cruise control, the DSG box allows the car to go to a complete stop and start again once traffic starts moving. Made me very jealous of this when I had a GTD courtesy car with this for a few days. Having said all that i do prefer the "feel" of a manual box when I want to have a blast on some back roads...
  2. I just got my first major service done yesterday at 38K miles. £235 at an indy VW garage. Was quoted similar to you at my usual VW dealer around £420.
  3. I think the 0 miles comes up when there's 5 litre left in the tank. Mine said 0 miles when I was just pulling in to the station, took almost bang on 50 litres to fill. So with the 55 litre tank maybe the remanding 5 is for reserve. It may have been pure coincidence tho.
  4. Mine only had a few 8000 miles in. None looked too bad, I'm assuming the C1 i had done helped a bit. But after my bonnet was keyed I couldn't be bothered getting the coating reapplied after it was resprayed. Now it seems be a proper stone magnet. Anyone tried using those touch up kits you can get? I can imagine them to be pretty difficult to blend in perfectly.
  5. Found the culprit of my rattle, seems to be coming from the rear view mirror. Goes away when holding it in place and with a bit of tweaking it goes away temporarily. Anyone else found it to be the mirror? Taking it back into VW next week to see what the do this time..
  6. From Leeds to Newcastle on the A1 i got about 38mpg sitting at about 80 all the way apart from the stretch of 50mph road works. Lifetime is about 30mpg.
  7. Lucky them accepting liability on the wheel damage, I had an absolute nightmare with some cowboy jacking my car up and bending the side skirt whilst he was trying to repair a puncture. Ideally needed a new skirt but had to settle with £300 touch up. But yeah, back on topic, same tyres is best imo.
  8. I have an annoying vibration coming from behind the dashboard somewhere, seems to resonate between 1500-2000 RPM. (Thought it was to do with the soundaktor at first but it still does it in eco etc..) Took it into VW last week and on the test drive with the technician he thought it was some trim coming from the drivers side that was causing it (when driving it sound like its coming from the passenger side. I left it with them for 2 days where they padded out some trim with foam pads. no vibration all weekend... but now it has returned. Don't know whether to just cope or take it back again.
  9. Can you change the soundaktor noise level with MIB II? or do you mean getting it adjusted via VCDS?
  10. Can say iv done this like 3 times while waiting at traffic lights.. pulled it into neutral, where i have a habit of resting my wrist on the gear stick, then on trying to slip it into what i think is 1st it has went straight into reverse followed by the "beep" for parking sensors. Quickly followed by my embarrassment of the reverse light coming on for those behind me . Just another excuse to accelerate quickly away. Haven't done it in awhile though
  11. Getting the side skirt replaced today after some idiot jacked it up in the wrong place for a puncture repair. Will be whole again soon
  12. Yeah with hindsight I wish I did that. Watching him gradually damage the car more and more made me feel sick! Currently at VW getting a quote for the damage, side skirt needs replaced and the alloy replaced too, possibly more damage behind the skirt but can't tell until it's removed. He better have insurance
  13. I was thinking that but he wasn't have any of it and started shutting the shutters. I had my brother with me so he saw it all happen, dunno if that helps with evidence
  14. Need some advice again.. Low pressure pinged up on the dash on my way home, pulled in to a garage to find a screw stuck in it. Found the nearest puncture repair place as I was in a rush. To put it short hes made a right mess of it. First he jacks the car up in the wrong place with a hydraulic lift. Causing the side skirt to buckle and come away. Then I see he's struggling to get the tyre back on after fixing the puncture. Looking at the alloy there's scuffs all over it which he said he didn't do, and in the end he couldn't even get the tyre back on. So told him to put the spare on and il take it else where. I put my phone on record and tried to get him to admit damaging the car but he kept saying he did jack it in the right place and he never damaged the alloy. He's gave me his number and said to ring tomorrow but I feel like he's just going to ignore me. What should I do? Take it to vw and quote up the damage and see if he pays up?
  15. Had mine in last week to look at the "notchy" change from 1-2, test driver said the gear linkages may need to be re-lubricated or adjusted. They adjusted them and it does feel a little bit better but not gone completely, sometimes its really smooth and others the notch is still there. Going to rack up a few more miles to see if it improves.
