  1. I’m amazed at the cost of owning my Golf R. I was lucky enough to get one of the crazy cheap lease deals in 2015 and then bought it from VWFS 2 years later for £18200. That was 4 years ago and I’m selling it to someone today for £15000! I’ll miss it dearly and have joined the dark EV side.
  2. I recently lived in a flat and had a decent system and I’d run the hose and extension lead off the balcony to the car below but I wasn’t on the fourth floor. What about using a pressure sprayer to apply some citrus Pre wash and then take it to a hand car wash with your two buckets and MFs in the boot and literally just get them to rinse off the pre wash and fill your buckets for you? Sure they’d be happy to take a few quid to barely lift a finger?
  3. The detailer who has just coated mine recommended Nanolex washcoat. It’s applied through a foam lance. Anyone round here tried it?
  4. Wanted to wave as I saw your VWROC sticker proudly on display today! Your rear facing camera looked very nice and discrete.
  5. Thanks Jon. Appreciate the info. Will get some on order
  6. Thanks Jon. Just wondered what you’re topping yours up with? Just Reload? The guy recommended Nonolex Wash Coat but interested to hear people’s experiences here.
  7. Correction was £600 and coating was £200 but billed VW £675 so I only had £125 to pay for the coating
  8. Hi thanks for that only just read it but collected mine today after it’s correction
  9. Cheers mate. Got it booked for the middle of next month so will let you know then. Could never justify coating it previously, partly because I leased it to begin with but ended up buying it from the lease company. I’m sure I’ll be converted and coat any future car I have.
  10. Thanks. Just booked it in with Darren at Atlantic Detailing Burgess Hill. VW agreed to pay for it and I’ll cover the £200 extra for the ceramic coating. Will report back with results!
  11. Yeah I went there on Monday. The guy tried telling me my car will have been in that condition anyway before the dealer washed it and that’s just what you get with Lapiz Blue. I told him it definitely wasn’t in that condition and he said it will have been had I have looked at it in the right light conditions. Bizarre. Anyway that was Monday and they still haven’t got round to sending me a quotation despite calling them today and yesterday. He hinted at around £1000 so I think I’ll go elsewhere.
  12. Currently MICH19 is giving £52 off a set of Michelin tyres and the usual 10% off on Mondays. If you bank with halifax too they’re offering 5-7% cashback at ATS. https://www.atseuromaster.co.uk/SearchDisplay?storeId=10201&catalogId=10051&langId=-1&sType=SimpleSearch&resultCatEntryType=2&showResultsPage=true&searchSource=Q&pageView=&beginIndex=0&pageSize=12&searchType=102&searchTerm=Michelin+Pilot+Sport+4&fetchFacets=true#facet:&productBeginIndex:0&facetLimit:&orderBy:&pageView:grid&minPrice:&maxPrice:&pageSize:&
  13. Hi, thanks for the info. I’m in Horsham, West Sussex.
  14. I have been quoted £699 from one guy and £600 from the other. One guy was suggesting a 3 stage polish and the other guy 2 stages. I guess I’m just bothered about the end result. Any opinions on what it needs and if one is any more likely to result in a better finish? Both suggested an extra £200 for a ceramic coating which I’ll definitely go with. Thanks
  15. Some post wash pictures 😭😭😭 I don’t know what I said that you took as sounding angry. Sorry
  16. Well I just got this reply from them so looks promising so far... Good Afternoon Mr Wilson,Thank you for your email, I am very sorry to learn that we cleaned your vehicle at it's most recent visit against your wishes.I fully understand the frustration this has caused. I have discussed the issue with our driver and he too is truly sorry that it happened - it was human error that the message did not make it through to Lois in order that we could take the appropriate steps to prevent cleaning. Please let me have the quotations and images when you have received them in order that I can move the complaint to the next stage.Once again I'm very sorry that this has happened and will ensure that we get the issue rectified. Finally thank you for taking the time to bring this matter to our attention, with feedback both positive and negative we cannot improve the services we offer.I look forward to receiving the quotations and images in due course and if there is anything I can do in the meantime please don’t hesitate to contact meKind regards
  17. Well you could put it to the test. Take a few grains of sand, even just half a dozen and sprinkle them on your bonnet and then rub a damp cloth over the area a few times. Send us all some before and after pictures and we can judge. I didnt have any cermaic coating on. I just had a seal and wax on it, and that’s not as hard as bits of sand and grit. Polish doesn’t offer any protection at all. Polish is just correcting any defects in the paintwork. At least I think that’s what Bec taught me? 🤔
  18. Yeah that’s a great idea I’ll definitely pay the extra myself if I can get VW to pay for the initial correction. Yeah I think I’ll treat it as if I was looking for a quote I’d be happy paying myself and if I can get it corrected at their cost then I’ll be happy. It didn’t have any ceramic coating on but it’ll definitely need some work. I’ve booked in for a consultation with a local company for Tuesday so I’ll see what the damage is. Ouch. Out of interest what made to notice? Or did they ‘fess up?
  19. No I didn’t hang any do not wash signs up. Lesson for future I guess. Thanks Dan and Bec. I’ll get some quotes. What do you think would be a sensible price for a correction? I’ve only ever done it myself but looking online there’s companies offering anything from £250-£900. Hard to know what I could get away with at the dealer if anything at all. thanks
  20. So I sent my car into the VW dealer for a service and asked them to make sure it wasn’t washed. When they dropped it back off to me the guy apologised as it had been washed. The next day in the bright sunlight it’s clearly covered in swirls. Didn’t help that it was filthy as I live on a construction site and the thought of them just taking their wet sponge to my dry filthy car is awful. Has anyone experienced this before and what solution have you come to with the dealership? I feel like they should pay for a correction detail really. Have before and after pics to illustrate the damage I believe they’ve caused. Interested to hear anyone’s thoughts.
  21. I was a bit worried moving into my apartment last week that I wasn’t going to be able to do much detailing again given no driveway and the lack of outdoor tap but this great Hoselock indoor tap connector has sorted me out. A 50m hose dangling down out of the first floor and I’ll be the envy of the block 😂
  22. Thanks Bec. I’ll just get the full kit and do a proper job on it then as everyone seems to rave about this stuff 😊
  23. Thanks again for that Bec. Just got a little question about the megs MF correction system before I splash a little cash. Would I get good results just using the initial compound stage without their finishing polish and topping it off with some EX-P seal and some wax or is the stage 2 finishing polish essential too? Thanks in advance. Josh
  24. The R they were in was probably stolen so they probably wouldn’t know either way! Can’t imagine you’d be using your own car in such a crime. In which case the OP is probably used the handling one better than they were. What’s it’s like at 150? I feel like it should be fairly comfortable! Seemed ok at ‘speeds in excess of 70’ when I’ve done it in the past.
