Be careful with low battery situation, the car needs to be above a certain percentage for the steering rack to work I think it’s 65% And to have the rack go out on you is mega scary! VW will try and get you to replace your steering rack and column, Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

With the four years I’ve been driving I haven’t been caught speeding. The golfs do have excellent brakes to slow you down near instantly! Ps. Brembo pads are great on stock callipers. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Mine has been set to 140mph. I could safely say that I’ve set it off only twice and I’m running a remapped gti e40 [emoji23] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

From what I understand the difference between 7 & 7.5 are the lights, but I’ve seen people who has installed a 2018 light unit onto a 2015 vehicle. But to have the panel replaced for £530 inc. labour, it’s a good deal. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F262956085534 I haven’t replaced a front wing on a golf but have found that they’re pretty much the same on all cars, usually held in with a few bolts under the wheel arch. 2 hours max installation time. You might need to find the correct paint and get it professionally painted if it’s not colour correct. I had this happen to me lucky I had a dash cam with parking mode, caught the perpetrator and claimed on their insurance, Derek. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Exhaust valves closed in Race mode on startup.

If you have an android device, you can buy a wireless reader obdeleven, there’s an option in it where you can permanently leave the exhaust flaps open, then you can manually close them when you don’t want it There are other mods too, my favourite is audible lock tone. Has the car had a knock on the front bumper? Has the car had tracking done? Has the car had a steering rack replacement? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

That's the danger of having nice things, the standard gets moved along. I had the fortune of driving a Mercedes E220 2019 courtesy car, and the audio (although having the same amount of drivers) wasn't anywhere as near as dynaudio, I spent time EQ'ing the speakers, but to no avail, the sound was congested in the midst and highs leaving out a lot of detail in the bass, the bass was there but kind of presented itself in a tinny sense. Like knocking on hard wood [emoji23] The cockpit was nice tho.. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The only way I can think of distortion is probably it has has something in the door panel or side bins. The only way is to take it back to VW and try to replicate the issue. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Sorry it's in Russian. I'm sure the setup and menu option is the same. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Depends on your proficiency, if you're good with electrics it's just a matter of buying the drivers and wiring it in yourself The system consists of 4 bass drivers one in each door and 2 pillar tweeters, you'd have to get the sub separate. If you have the navigation 2 I think you can reprogram it on vcds otherwise I think you have to get the head unit too which comes with a cd unit in the glovebox After looking online they're going for £1000+ just for the audio drivers, I think head unit and accompanying cd will be another £1000 then there's installation fees if you can't do it all It might need coding to the car too! I think it'll be easier if you bought Android based pioneer head unit and speaker set... Cheaper and immediately an improvement in sound Vs stock. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Actually thinking about it, when you have more individual drivers to play a specific frequency the separation in your audio is better therefore you get less interference from neighbouring frequencies. So by adding a sub you have gained more depth in your tracks. Another point would be your source of audio, and the files you play, if you're listening to compressed files like apple music then the stock stereo after EQ'ing would be adequate. Also, if you like your music loud, distortion will be an issue so any named brand premium audio should reduce that as they're using bigger drivers, which will distort too but at an uncomfortable volume. Sound signature, if you're into your bass and volume then it's worth the price but if you're into a natural - flat EQ I would say, save yourself the money and buy a decent set of personal earphones. After EQ'ing it sounds ace! Worth the money Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Sounds good, sorry for the miss diagnosis but I was going by what the stealers was saying, if you bought your steering online I think there's 14 day money back but you will have to pay for postage both ways. But it's saved you £300 labour fees, I really hope it's a battery fault, how many miles do you drive your car weekly? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

It's mainly for the dash really, I've been running this setup for 3 years, which is low average when batteries go? For the first 2 years I constantly did SOC test to see if it completely drains the battery overnight. But it only drains 10% which quickly gets replaced the next day. I do average 80 miles per day. I know the alternator is next to go cause of the rate it has to work at! But these are easily sourced off the net and easily accessible in the engine compartment. I have disabled the auto start stop as I don't fancy replacing that anytime soon, and based on start stop I guess the starter is beefier than non start stop vehicles. Steering rack was perfectly fine but I told the garage to recon it and they knocked off price of the final bill. Because everything on these new cars are electric the first thing to check is most likely the battery unless it's obvious. It's not only VW, but Renault, BMW, Mercedes all use the electro mechanical steering, with a similar setup, if the battery draw is too big then it'll shut off assisted systems to keep the car going and starting. Well it's certainly not as loud! My power steering is fully functional. Fml all this steering issue was due to a freaking battery. Don't cheap on the battery, as other posters her suggest, the battery is £150 from Halfords and get it fitted £20, they had to reset the start stop count thing. Expect your steering icon to go yellow, as it need basic adaptation. Which essentially is steer left full lock right full lock then it clears. All in all, I got a newer steering rack, batteries for 1/3 of what the stealers were charging with labour!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I have a new battery installed from Halfords including fitting, he had to use a small scanner which he plugged into the obd 2 port and everything is now ok after a 60 mile trip. Continuing to see what's draining the battery as it dropped 10% whilst parked in Highcross!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

It's the trip counter button on your odometer, press hold until it cycles to SOC.. as far as I understand your rack hasn't failed yet? Just the grinding noise? Mine was probably due to aged battery, I have had the dash plugged in for 3 years, and I think chemistry doesn't allow the battery to hold charge as it used to. Especially during cold weathers. My idea is that the car shuts off assisted features to remain operational at a primative level. Red steering wheel happens when there's a loss of power, so when installing new battery be sure to keep the car on the mains. So it won't lose its values, in order to remedy the red steering wheel, you have to turn full lock right and left until the long beep turn into two short beeps (steering curve learnt) I suggest you keep the vehicle moving. If safe. Then drive in a straight line for about 3 miles and then upon restart it'll slowly clear all faults when the battery has sufficiently charged. I think optimal is 70% PS. A lot of force is needed to turn full lock, I'm 80kgs and in order to achieve full lock you literally have to use all your bodyweight. I was practically doing pull ups! [emoji23] A new battery is going on tomorrow. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The steering failed again, I think originally VW diagnosed the wrong thing. These racks are susceptible to power spikes and loads... Turns out my battery is 60 and below as I run a 24/7 dashcam but I drive it every day Can you do a SOC check? Turn your car off then press hold I/O button on your clock and hold until you see SOC It's usually after time setting. If it's below 60% it won't have enough juice to power the rack module. Also another thing to note, if your mechanic is good and accurate, they should be able to put the steering knuckle exactly how they disconnected it, It's a spleened connection, and if it's one teeth out your steering wheel will be lop sided even though the car is tracking straight. If this happens you'll have to remove and disconnect the battery, remove the airbag and re-align the steering wheel at the steering side.... Take note that VAG systems don't like to be disconnected from a 12v supply, cause a spike in power has put my steering back into red icon mode!!! If this happens you need to bring the car back to a specialist to get the turning curve re downloaded !!! I hope this is somewhat useful for someone. Derek. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

That's a very wise thing to do, I didn't know third party extended warranty exists lol! Tbh I'd like to think I've got a good idea about cars, and generally if you replace parts like for like you're golden! Knowing where to source the parts for cheap is an art in itself! I think if you're having to involve companies be prepared for down time as there's more people involved. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
