  1. Hooray i’m keeping my house 😂🤣🙁 Awesome car 👍🏽 and it will be great to see it compete. With a bit of luck we might get a street version.
  2. I’m excited to see what it will be, but one thing i’m pretty certain of is that the price tag will be out of reach 😂🤣 Unless i put my house up for sale 🤔 That’s if it’s even something that will be sold in the UK 🇬🇧 it’s probably a German only product like the previous special edition : LOVE THIS COLOUR ON THE R
  3. Personally i would be surprised if it would be a 5 cylinder, i think its more likely to be like a Club R, a lightened version of current 8.5R, maybe more like a stage 1 tune, stripped back seats with half roll cage, lighter upgraded brakes, carbon bonnet and wings, carbon rear wing, more like a track focused car.
  4. The vid does reveal upgraded brakes and a mahousief ironing board spoiler on the back 😂 Is the 5th of May just a date, or is it purposely done as it is linked by a 5 cylinder daza? 😁

  6. Welcome back 😁 Great spec 👍🏽 Sometimes you don’t know how good you have it until it’s gone. But at least you will now have the perfect car you want and it has removed any doubt. I liked my 8, but it was not perfect and without problems, i should have jumped ship, but i’m glad didn’t and i went for the 8.5, i think all round it’s a better version. Congratulations 🥂
  7. You’re welcome! Yes, I went with SportContact 7. I’ve used Continental tyres several times before, they’ve always been great, the reviews are strong, and since I’m not really a Michelin fan, it was an easy choice for me. Regarding switching back to OEM tyres, it’s just advice based on past experience. Volkswagen can be quite difficult when it comes to warranty or service claims, and they may use any reason to avoid taking responsibility—that’s all I meant.
  8. Yes I've done it 👍🏼 No regrets, no issues and I wouldn't want to go back to 235, for me its the perfect size. . 1:Yes 2:No 3:Yes The extra width does mean that even in the lightest steering setting it still has some weight, so that part might not be to everyones liking, also bare in mind that any issues with steering rack or anything with wheel set up may mean that VW won't look at the car before it's back to OEM, I say this because I had two steering rack failures on my MK8 (unrelated to tires) but it didn't stop me from changing them over on my MK8.5
  9. Nice, but I wouldn't, surely it will make it look like it was not part of the Performance pack. I would just have it the same as Becs 👍🏼But your car, your decision.
  10. Hiya bud, yes I'm referring to the real oil filler cap, not the bung that replaces the oil stick. The photo was to show the oil running down the side that's all 👍🏼
  11. Well I love my golf, I think it's the perfect all rounder in every way, I love the sharp looks, especially the changes they made on the 8.5, the versatility, the performance and the relatively cheap running costs for its performance its capable of doing, but I'm not going to lie, I do like the 5 pot RS3 in the right colour and right spec 😍 Your car looks great 👍🏼
  12. Hello there, I've got the 11mode on my Mk8.5 R BE with a standard exhaust, I like the fact that I can choose with the click of button to have the valves open or for it just to follow the driving mode. In terms of exhaust volume it is not huge, however I'm only 2k in so it may get slightly louder. For me the slight difference is enough,(although subtle) but I think most may think it's not worth it. At standstill there is no difference because on the 8.5 they are already open, they close when driving depending on driving mode. Also worth noting that the mk8.5 cars with a standard exhaust won't pop and bang unlike with the mk8, and even with an aftermarket exhaust it probably won't either as it comes down to how the car is set up and they are either enhancing the Akra cars or they are toning down the standard exhaust cars. The later is more likely. Hope that helps.
  13. Congratulations 🎉 Car looks awesome, nice spec. I'd did a full XPel Utimate plus on my 8.5R BE and it's great, I wouldn't want it without.
  14. All good advise 👍🏼 much appreciated. Thank you
  15. Yes I honestly don't mind driving further afield, the problem is I think wherever I go, I will have exactly the same upsets and problems because they don't understand me! They don't understand that the car is my pride and joy and I'm not being funny with them, maybe how I interact comes across a certain way as I'm autistic but that I don't mean to offend, I'm just particular how the car gets handled. I think with all the bad experiences I've had, I will always attract that negativity because there is an expectation that something will go wrong and I can not trust them. In an ideal world I would either find Volkswagen specialist that has a good understanding what I'm about and know what a fellow enthusiast wants and does not want, or If I got to know someone who works at a dealership I can trust or if I knew someone that knows the garage manager, who can explain my case and can link me up. My mate is a weirdo, look after him, he means no harm 😂🤣
  16. Car looks awesome mate 👌🏽 It's always nice to see a new R come through and it's nice to see it in Grey. The plate also looks smart, I'm a fan of private plates, not all because some can look tacky when it's trying too hard and spacing isn't correct. Congratulations 🎉
  17. Thank you and I appreciate you looking out for my wellbeing, and yes I agree sometimes it's not the headache and that will also be the reason I normally would not make a formal complaint. However you also have a point that it might be sabotage or a criminal act, in my opinion it is, the fact of the matter is I don't think its a coincidence that I asked them to not test drive my car and suddenlythey forget to put the oil cap on, they seemed set back with this request and said it was not the norm. Well I dont think should be norm, it my car and it's going in for a routine service without any issues ⚠️ It's my car and if chose to not have someone else drive my car unnecessarily then that is my choice and certainly should not be punished or my vehicle should not be damaged for making that request.
  18. @AHG I appreciate what you are saying, but I'm not one to formally complain in actual fact I don't think I've ever made a formal complaint about anything in my life. I normally will speak in person and resolve the problem on the spot, I'm old school and don't email or try to make anyones life difficult and I certainly don't want someone to get into trouble. I don't get I kick out of this situation, I think you having been on this forum for longer or for the same time of my ownership of my MK8 and now my MK8.5 you would have read all the problems I have faced with the dealers and you would understand, I shall not repeat the struggles I have faced to you but it gets to a point where boundaries have been crossed and you have no choice but to make it an official complaint, this last incident is an absolute pistake and in my opinion purposely done to make a point. You know mistakes happen and I can understand that, but this is not a simple or clumsy mistake! I presume you have removed your oil cap the MK8 and you have put it back on your engine? The engine oil cap sits firmly in situ and once its in place and you twist it, you can feel it lock into place and you can hear a firm click noise confirming its where it needs to be. I've now made a formal complaint, lets see how they respond.
  19. Yes I'm in Kent and this was JCB Ashford and before this I had an unpleasant experience with JCB Medway. To be honest it makes me sad to talk negative about a company as I know, some may have totally different experience, but as you can see by the photos this is what I've had to deal with.
  20. Yes very frustrating Becs, Its taken me 5 days to build up the courage to look under the bonnet because I feared what I would find, and what I feared was true. Heart braking, no care and no ownership, I don't believe it would have made any permanent damage to the engine, but it's far from ideal. I've already cleaned it all, I could not leave it. But I will be making a formal complaint about this and everything else Ive faced with JCB Volkswagen.
  21. All resolved they said, the oil cap was not fully clicked into position but don't worry its resolved, no oil spillage. How it's not possible to click an oil cap into place is beyond me, you can clearly hear it and feel it click into place and how unprofessional from a Volkwagen dealer to then lie in your face about it. Heres some photos of the non spillage engine bay. I
  22. Haha… yes! I’m like how on earth is possible that every time i take a car to a volkswagen garage there is an issue that was not there before 🤯 Is it incompetence? or it’s purposely done because maybe they think i’m rude or it’s jealousy, i honestly don’t know. I know i’m protective of my car and i’m particular how my car gets handled, but i don’t mean to offend or be rude, but i hand over my car to you i would like you to look after it in best possible way, i’ve paid for a service and i pay for car with your company for a vehicle i cherish so please look after it and be understanding. I’ve been brought up to say hello to everyone and to see everyone as equals, im not full of myself and im not a nasty person so why do i face this issue every time. Maybe i should write them an email and explain my experiences and maybe say that i’m not complaining but it’s more about having understanding of who i am and how i come across that maybe creates these situations. Anyway thank you for your kind words Becs, i appreciate your response and understanding and sharing about yourself and your friend ❤️ but yes its all good, we all face difficulties, its the road set out for me 😁
  23. Thanks Becs, these things never go smooth for me, it’s never simple, twenty minutes down the road i notice i have an engine management light 🤯😂 ffs, so I went straight back. Now this might not come as a surprise, but i’m Autistic and unfortunately as i’ve got older in the last couple of years i’ve had a couple of mental breakdowns and that’s how it’s come to light as i was masking it well before, and now i don’t, which means i struggle not to say it as it is and my responses can be abrupt as i say it without filter 🫣 I was always honest but now, im just very direct and i can not help it. So when i go back to the garage and they say how can we help, i say the car now has an engine management light on, and they say, ok, but the car was only in for a service did it just come on ? My response is, the car has been problem free for the last year ! (By that i mean, did i mention it when i checked the car in, did the mechanic see an engine management light on and if so im sure you would not have given me the keys back) They said we can have a look but it may not be related, do you want us to look at it ? I just hand them key because i don’t know what else i can say without offending them any further. So they took the car and they were back in about 20 minutes, problem was they did not tighten the oil cap in full 😅 Regarding the car they had on show i would have to agree, but i still liked it, for me i thought the wheels were a bad choice. I could live with a standard spec R, if I could have a couple options, i would have it in blue and i would want dcc as a minimum, then next would be Warmenau graphite wheels.
