The 8.5 is better to drive. The biggest difference I’ve noticed so far is that the 8.5 feels more responsive both in when putting the foot down and cornering as well. I’ve not pushed it too hard as of yet but there are immediately noticeable differences. As for mods, nothing planned while under warranty so just going to drive it.

Recently passed the 1,000 mile mark in the car and had a break in oil change to celebrate. I’ve also done the first ‘modification’ in the form of the dipstick. Removing the plug that’s there from the factory comes off quickly with some pliers and it looks a bit better with the dipstick. Plus it’s an extra way of checking the oil in case the electronic measure fails which it shouldn’t but you never know. The dipstick is the OEM 06K115611AB which I got from AKS Tuning.

My B pillars have the Black badges on them and I got it last month. Though my car was waiting at the port for a while due to the original supplying dealer going into administration so my car was likely a 2025 build car. I’m guessing 2026 ones don’t have the badges.

No for me Lapiz Blue is the ‘R’ colour.
-
Yeah of course. The name is more than a reg.

Got round to putting my private reg on the car now so it is no longer a 75 reg. Had my first issue this morning with wireless CarPlay not connecting. Turning the infotainment on and off again fixed it, as it often does with tech 😅

I’m debating ceramic coating but won’t be with this. The valeting is mobile but for ceramic coating it’s better to have it done indoors.

I’ve booked in to have my car valeted professionally this Friday. It will be its first wash.

The options I got besides the wheels and colour are: DCC Harmon Kardon Area View Carbon interior trim Head up display

No I have standard Black Edition exhaust.

No VWs are on DTD it seems outside of the ID Buzz and related models.

I’ll ask for physical copies as proof of the service.

I bought some new number plates to put my private reg on my 8.5 R at some point. I had some 4D ones on my 7.5 R which I thought looked great at the time but less so now so the new ones are regular style. I also bought a binder and plastic wallets for all of the documents and invoices I get over the next years, handy as the V5C arrived today.

It is. Goodyears were an option at one point but disappeared with the 8.5 I think. I got Hankooks on my 8.5 R. They’re an ok tyre just a bit noisy. Though not driven them hard yet as I’m still bedding the car in.

With the 8.5, the options I think are musts are DCC, especially on 19 inch wheels, and Area View. Area View is a no brainer anyway because of how cheap it as an option. I like the spec I got and can’t think of anything I would change, except maybe the extra airbags which I forgot about until after I ordered it. The spec I got is: Black Edition so Performance Pack Lapiz Blue paint Black Warmenau wheels DCC HK Sound Head Up Display Area View Carbon Fibre Inserts For most options it’s personal preference, like I’m not big on leather seats as they are cold in the winter and sticky in the summer and you slide around more than with the standard seats when converting enthusiastically. And the panoramic roof I can take it or leave it so didn’t go for that either. Akra I was tempted to get but the cost put me off.

Ok thanks for letting me know. Will take a look myself.

Where did you go to get this done?

Today, the 7.5 R I have had for over 3 years went off to its new home, a main VW dealer in Hampshire. Given I’m in the Manchester area that’s quite a distance away. In the end, I sold it on Motorway after Carwow not giving me a good offer. I’m a little sad to see it go but the 8.5 is just a better car.

That range isn’t accurate. When I got it, it had 180 miles left and when I got home after about 80 miles or so, it had 65 miles left. To be fair it will get more accurate after driving it more I would think. I was also in Eco mode the whole time.

I didn’t get any emails from VW regarding the build. -
So yesterday I finally got my new 8.5 R Black Edition, nicknamed Katy due to the number plate. So far, I’ve done about 100 miles in it or so, most of that being the drive home from the dealer. I’ve managed to get some things how I want them, thanks to some time spent in traffic due to an accident on the motorway and also earlier this morning. I have won the tyre lottery getting the Hankook’s over the Bridgestone’s but I will say one thing, they’re quite noisy tyres. I have also got a warning triangle from Cox motor parts which fits nicely into the boot.
-
Yeah I am. The first drive was nice and now it’s a case of getting used to all of the different settings.
-
My 8.5 R Black Edition. Nicknamed Katy due to the reg plate. A few errors popped up on the dash and I’m told it’s because of when it was taken out of transport mode.

I’ve put it on Carwow. The reserve they have suggested is already more than the dealer is offering so it’s worth pursuing.
