  1. I've have a (2012 Volkswagen Golf R 4 Cylinders F 2.0L MFI Turbo DOHC)(MK6 Golf R) that I've been having some serious clutch issues with. It's Stage 2+ with a turbo-back exhaust, upgraded Powercore intake, Haldex controller, and custom tune (350hp). With this much power, the original owner put in a FX400 8-puck ceramic clutch kit and lightweight flywheel (single mass).I had the misfortune of the slave cylinder failing 7 months ago, which got fluid on the clutch disk and caused it to slip. After contacting CM and following their guidelines, the clutch was cleaned and the flywheel was resurfaced. I prayed this was the end of the clutch issues (since clutch slips in VWs are something way too common for me ) but a week ago I had a slip in 6th, then 5th, and finally 4th.I've read online that the FX400 only lasts 20k miles on average. I daily my Golf R and seldom get the chance to track it. Though I'm sure this is one of the most common threads seen on this forum, I wanted to ask for suggestions on a new clutch kit and flywheel. I want to have something that's reliable and good for a daily driver while still being fun and performance-based. I'd say I'm on a tight budget, but I'm willing to put out the extra penny for something that is quality and won't fail. Thanks for the help guys
  2. Hi All I have been struggling with what appears to be a DSG clutch slip Issue for a while now and I just wanted to reach out to the community for advice and to see if anyone else has experienced this. The car is fine when stock however I have purchased a JB1 tuning box and when at the default map 1 setting it looks like the clutch will slip or delay to engage when first accelerating (even in the lower gears). See this video What I have tried so far but has not helped Perform basic settings using VCDS Check DSG Oil Level (It is fine) Tried adding an extra 0.5 liter as well. Lowering the boost on JB1 to give smoother power delivery. (Still has a slight slip but less noticeable. Brought to the dealer when stock for them to check for SW update but there was none available, they did not want to perform DSG clutch adaptation as they were not replacing the mechatronics unit. I am running out of ideas apart from getting a DSG/TCU tune that will increase the clamping pressure. I have been in contact with George from BMS about the issue and he has been very helpful but we have been unable to find a solution. It seems I am the only one needing a DSG tune at this power level, even the slightest bit of extra torque is causing it to slip like this. I have never had a fault for clutch slip logged on the car or any warning whatsoever. I fail to see how there can be wear on my clutches that could cause this. I have the car from new and it has never shown the slightest problem with the transmission until now. I have of course disabled the JB1 until I can get this sorted as I do not want to run the car like this. If anyone knows of any logging that I can do to troubleshoot let me know as I do have VCDS. EDIT: Just an update on this for anyone that might be following. I have sold my JB1 and it is running on another car with no issues. I have since gone with a custom Stage 2 remap without a DSG tune. The car made 396 BHP and 400 lb/ft. Not getting any slip at all from the DSG. I have logged my clutch clamping pressure with VCDS. It does clamp more now that it is tuned because the car has a hell of a lot more torque. (and the ECU sees the real torque). Clamping pressure on the clutches is around 13.5 bar instead of 11 bar. It may not be the clamping pressure alone that fixed it though because with the JB1 it did not slip once it got going. Only on initial acceleration, it was more like a delay to clamp down.
