slider09
Hi all Was going up towards a junction earlier when a warning light came on (cruise control error light). Cruise and front assist were not available and the car wasn’t running right. No misfire, just didn’t seem to want to rev. Didn’t push it and kept it under 3k for the next half a mile until I could safely park up. Turned the car off then back on and the light had gone. Car drove normally and the light hasn’t come back on since. Quick scan with obdeleven once home shows: Cam shift Actuator “A” cylinder 4Fault code: P11AE00Status: static Anyone shed some light on this issue, or experienced similar issues? Assuming these ‘actuators’ are the two things behind each spark plug, with “A” referring to one of these? Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
samx300
I believe these might be the N205 solenoids that are being referred to here. I had a similar issue on my built engine recently but I won't go into details. I too had the same symptoms (cruise/front assist not available) and it actually made the car go onto some kind of a limp mode as the high lift cam won't engage with this fault, meaning you won't make any power up top. Only option is to remove them and check. If they look bent or damaged, time to replace them. Unfortunately its' a common fault for these solenoids to fail, as corroborated by the various part number revisions VW has made. PM me if you have any further questions. samx300
Also take a look at this post in case your error is remotely related to this fault. ECS asking 95$! They are selling the old ones as well. “M” suffix released in 2017. Must be a common failure point ? slider09
Doesn’t look like the most taxing of repairs Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk samx300

Do seem like a common failure point though I've not seen many post about it. The Americans seem to have a few of these fail on their engines when you search on the web. Good luck with the fix mate! 👍
slider09
The n205 is on the end of the camshaft I think, these are at the back of the engine behind the coil packs (2 per cylinder). I’ll see if the error comes back, then I’ll try identify the offending one. I know it’s cylinder 4 which I think is the gearbox end, then just need to work out which is “A”.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk samx300
Knightrider
I am interested in this, as my Skoda Superb 280 has exactly the same combination of ACC and Cam Actuator errors. Have had it in the dealer twice now, and they insist it is a fault with the ambient temp sensor... If it turns into an easy fix, I might attempt it myself... slider09
marshy
When I had my R I had the cam actuator cylinder 1 A fault.Didn’t know it was that to start with as it never put the warning light on just the ACC unavailable message.Part cost under £30 and took 5 mins to change which solved the problem. With vcds connected I unplugged the actuator to see which one was A or B.A common failure but cheap although there is 8 of them slider09
Knightrider
I don't have access to VCDS but do have an OBDEleven. Presumably when you disconnect one of the actuators an error will log?
slider09
I’ve not had the error since so will play it by ear. If it happens again I’ll replace. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
