Stobsie
Ideally you should run 345mm discs (Mk6 R) with the Macan caliper you can use the std 340mm disc but I was advised against it as it’s very much pad dependent on what sweeps the face of the disc correctly. Couldn’t tell you about spacers on the CM Prets but O.E require 11mm. Calipers off the TTS 8s is also another good option and works perfectly with the std 340mm discs but pad choice is limited. Bodyboarder81
So in your opinion what would be a better set up ? Is the TTS set up the same as the Aston Martin 4 pot set up ? My CM prets sit 14.4mm further out than oem prets , so sounds like they should fit without the need for a spacer
Stobsie
No the Aston Martin Calipers (Brembo) are the same as the older gen TTRS/RS3 the newer TTS are also 4 piston & made by ATE. Going the Porsche or the Aston route will ultimately give you a wider range in pad choices and are a top loading caliper so pad change is quick & straightforward whereas the TTS require the caliper to be removed to swap pads out, however crucially (for me) these are taken from an MQB platform vehicle and uses the same brake master cylinder as the R. I have read some feedback from other sources (USA) from people running the Mecan setup and commented about brake feel/modulation not being the best. I’ve driven the Aston & newer TTS setups and prefer the later however it wasn’t back to back & different pads & discs were used on both. I know @marshy ran the Porsche setup for a short while and said it was fine. As for my opinion I’m currently in the process of going the TTS route on mine as I’ve found a set a new calipers plus also have a fairly new set of Clubsport discs so it’s the cheaper (and better suited) option for me, If however I was going Macan I’d be running 345mm discs. marshy and Bodyboarder81
Bodyboarder81
Thanks for the reply and info appreciate it . I don’t know why but I quite like the idea of having Porsche brakes on the golf . I used to own a Porsche and it’s like a silly nod to that 😂 And yes I’ll buy some 345mm discs , also I’ll get some matching rear discs to satisfy my ocd 😊
Deano
The DB9/TTRS/RS3 4 pots are used on the MQB platform on the Limited edition Seat Leon. MikeBuzz and Stobsie
