Not a bad shout 🤣 Anyone got any thoughts on the 140i. There's some insanely cheap deals for under 30k brand new.
-
My interest rate isnt as amazing as some people are making out it's around 2.5% but fixed for next 5 years so it's not somthing I need to immediately worry about and if they do go up, then I'll have time to make a more sensible decision after 5 years. Good suggestions but, its my daily and of I have to listen to a squeaky interior id pull my hair out. So pretty much limits to the 3 German powerhouses

The dealer(s) and brand.

I'm not worried about paying more on car tax 😂, its the justification of paying more, I'm well under budget for my incoming £ but when it gets close to my mortgage bill then it's silly, hence why I was asking for car suggestions from an alternate perspective. It wouldn't be an issue if I paid £500 road tax but I would seriously rather not give the government any more than I absolutely require. I mean they are even taxing EVs now, absolutely shocking.

I dont have anything to part ex as I'm currently PCP so just a 4k deposit so if I wanted say a Golf R it would be 30k to finance over 5 years, much more than the PCP prices.
-
Presumably this is a B8 though ?
-
I had a really bad experience with VW wanted rid after about 12 months of ownership...
-
I did actually look at one myself, didn't go as far as getting any quotes though. If you don't mind me asking what are the difference in monthly bills vs your R in total? The s5 is a great choice btw. I would like 5 doors so would have to be a sportback.

My pcp on the Golf R is coming to an end but I am still very undecided what to buy next. There's a few issues I'm finding, insurance for similar cars seem to be far more expensive and also the 40k list price Tax issue, id really like to avoid paying £500 road tax. These are the options I have considered, all options based on a 4 year PCP 10k miles and 4k deposit. RS3 - £520 pm high tax S4 - £450 pm high tax 140i shadow edition - £350 pm S3 - £380 pm 435d - £420pm high tax. C43 AMG £680 pm high tax I currently pay 380 pm on the Golf and roughly 170 pm on fuel, whilst I have no issues paying more I want to make a sensible-ish decision. If im paying 500 pm on a car, 300 on fuel, 500 on tax and 2 grand on insurance the monthly bill would be more than my mortgage. My insurance currently costs me £450 per year, I'm 26. Out of the above options the cheapest to insure is the S4 at only 650. The S3 is over double my Golf R and the RS3 is quadruple. I was tempted to go for a fully loaded S3 but it's not worth the insurance premium jump. I've not added the A45 due to not being able to order from new and the new varient will probably be 50k. I'm really not interested in sticking with vw, had a bad experience this time round and want to get away from them. Anyone have any suggestions ??

rather wait and get it direct for £308

-

Aftermarket Exhausts and Overboost on MK7
B13NGL replied to Taz's topic in Modifying your Golf R MK7
MRC tuning have done one, looks nice too. -
DTUK box doesn't have a sensor for fuelling unlike the JB1, so it often runs lean with high AFR's
-
i guess it depends, if its just in for a service its very doubtful, however if the turbo sh*ts its self and takes the engine with it they may look for everything as its probably a 6-8k job inc labour.
-
The JB1 deals with fuelling, the DTUK doesn't so DTUK runs lean and has high AFR's Its around £150 cheaper even after paying 50usd shipping to UK. The JB1 is fully customisable, so if you choose to add a DP or run 85 you can up the boost etc.. I've seen dyno's of R7s with over 400crank hp with bolt ons and JB1. Also the REP from BMW owners using JB4 says it all..

No it means that if you map it, don't expect your engine to be under warranty...

Hi All, noticed after following the Golf R page on FB that the later 2015 R's have different options on there "CAR" setting on the infotainment. I do know the hardware's changed slightly to allow for the app stuff and car-net but wondering if there's any firmware updates for mine and where can i get them from if so.. I've trawled the net with not much luck.. Thanks

if it had no stickers and the seats didn't have the strange plastic backs i think its pretty good.
-
I got mine last November, admittedly it was new tyres but was decent, much better than any FWD I've owned. although their almost due a new set so not too sure they will be any good this year, dont really want to spend 600£ on some new alloys with winters on so ill just not drive it. got a 2 month old Tiguan R line, that should do.
-
because its still in dev and there's not an official release been announced yet.
-
Had the bumper re-sprayed due to a scuff & door edge PDR's due to a ding. A Secret Stage 1 coming soon...
-
doesn't sound that impressive for the money then considering a JB1 equipt car 1st and 2nd's pretty intense, a decent step up from stock anyway.
-
I've heard the stage 2 APR's fairly harsh on the clutch mate, take care with it etc etc.
