  1. If you think the Golf is bad try a Cooper S, they're the tickiest engine they constantly sound like there knackered.
  2. Housing on mine too, left it for a while but got to the point it would empty in a few days.
  3. I have a coat.... and when the hood is down i get wet, paid good money for it too haha! On a serious note, you can forget and the interior gets soaked which can be annoying.
  4. They work every 4 pulls IIRC, if they're popping out but not spraying, then id say the pump has totally failed. If you have anyone with an OBD local they can run a test on them, thats how i found out mine were goosed. The pipe is a bumper off job. to get a proper look. They run on an independent pump, not the same one used for windscreen wash etc.. If your cars under warranty its certainly worth a mention before the MOT pops up as i'm sure the cost was around £120-200 for parts and fitting.
  5. I believe its thicker and has better sound qualities...... Think of double glazing i was told.
  6. Funny you should say that Luke, the dealership tapped mine into a wall causing them to respray the bumper!! i had a feeling it would of been that but no way of proving it so many months after the work.
  7. Well another update! The kinked pipe seems to of caused an issue with the pump not delivering enough pressure now - luckily pumps are covered on warranty so now that's all done, it's back to working 100%.
  8. Auto correct.. I work for a US company so it auto detects and changes things like that...But then again i didn't realise we were being pedantic over a spelling, on a forum where we have both English and Americans ? Queens English from now on sorry Mick.
  9. A windscreen and labor for £75?? Not sure where your buying and having things done but i want to know. I had mine done recently i cant be fussed with the hassle of insurance and possible effect on no claims so i always buy my screens though the same place. £175 later and he shows me the receipt to where he buys the screen @ £110. The only thing to look out for is, if you have Dynaudio make sure they fit the correct glass.
  10. Just to update this if anyone else has the issue. Problem has tuned out to be a kink / damage on the pipe leading to the left headlight spray jet, bumper off and new tube in cost £120, probably fairly easy to do yourself i just couldn't be bothered!
  11. Dug a little last night, hooked it upto the OBD Eleven. Washers are enabled, live data shows theyre not activating..I then ran a test on them and they work....to a fashion, one works fine but the other isnt spraying a mist, more of a trickle. Anyway its ruled out a fuse and the pump i think? Going to check tonight and see if the nozzled blocked up, not sure why that would stop them working on stalk pull though?
  12. Will have a check when im wout of work, cheers guys. Im just hoping last time the had to respray the bumper, from crashing another car into it they hadnt disconnected something! Not checked the manual but a fuse would do for a fix too lol Thanks
  13. As per title really, i know alot of you have coded your cars not have the washers not work ? VW have just called me to say they're not working and its an MOT failure. Do they operate after every pull on the stalk or are they like other cars where they operate after say 5 or so pulls of the stalk? Thanks
  14. Im with you it belongs in the bin lol. Drives me insane people who waffle on about MPG and how good their car is @ 50-60mph on a motorway. One of the first questions im asked when im seen in the R "how good is it on petrol" - Don't care.
  15. I had this when I first got mine, was told to run aircon at all times but to me that's not its use/purpose. When i first got the car even the fans on full blast for 10 minutes wouldn't touch the mist, instantly gone with AC though, but seemed to mist up the day after switching it off in even normal conditions? A year on of not using it unless too warm and even then rarely (i usually have the windows down) i haven't had the issue come back, i honestly think the aircon is the main cause of the misty screen.
  16. lol, that's a better result than mine! Was definitely worth checking
  17. You've been quoted wrong like i was, and i only found out because the other dealers were much higher. I rang them back to double check and they realised they had quoted standard charges not applicable to the R. Best ring them back and double check, then ask for them to honor it, or discount the higher price. Mot was £49 so not too bad and they're doing the service anyway so thought it was easier having it all done in one place and in one day,
  18. I was quoted wrong so they had to honor it at £312. that's inc MOT and brake fluid change which is recommended. IIRC from the other VW garages i rang, its £279 for the actual service around £105 for the brake fluid change.
  19. Mines (2014) in for its 3 year service on the 20th... ill let you all know....
  20. Thanks, just seen should of updated in November!
  21. Has anyone updated their nav? Can you use the existing nav SD card or do you need to get a new one from VW? Thanks
  22. Just had the coolant housing done on mine due to a crack and leaking fluid.
  23. How easy to fit? might get the full lot for that price!
