The foam was OK, and these are the only pictures i have, there isno metal or hard plastic under the leather. I hope answers your question.
-
I have attached a screenshot but unfortunately; unless you know someone in the USA you will struggle as all retailers in the USA will not post this item to the UK. You can of course buy it from you local VW dealer but it’s 4 x the price 😮 I hope this helps.

The seat base was very poor quality from new and was covered in dents, VW were not interested and said it was misuse! I purchased a new OEM cover from the USA( cheaper) and it’s now been fitted. I am very happy with results and no issues from disconnecting the battery either.

Hi i am having the base leather replaced later today, so although they are experts in the process of fitting the leather I’m not sure they are up to speed with whole battery disconnect etc. i have purchased the OEM part from VW. its a mk8,5 BTW
-
Is there a correct procedure when removing the front seats? Is it ok just to remove the seat electrical connections as long as the ignition is switched off? Or should the battery be disconnected? and finally if the battery is disconnected for over an hour will I have issues when it is reconnected? thanks in advance.

Never really got the HK, the standard stereo is fine, I might spend £600 on speakers at home, but in a vehicle that produces 75Db at 70MPH I do not see the point..

Taken the plunge this morning and ordered another R, nothing wrong with my Lapiz blue, the colour is just not me and the leather is such poor quality that these 2 things were enough for me to change. That said i tried all the equivalent opposition and nothing comes close to the drive of the R. Delivery should be mid March. So i have order Dolphin Grey, Warmenau Diamond Cut Alloys, 360 camera and DCC

Has anyone ordered or has bought a Dolphin Grey R? I am looking to change to one of these, I quite keen due to its rarity and stealth look. Lapiz blue has never been me TBH....

There are no penalties.

If it were me, I would sell, as you bought the car through Motorfinity your discount would have been huge, you could move the car on with a very small loss. This is something I am looking at doing once I have found what I would like to replace it with. Pump the reg into Carwow and see what it offers.

Has anyone had an issue with the stop start function not working in comfort mode?

Just booked mine in with the local stealers for 2 things. 1. Drivers side wiper hits the upright, guess a spline out. 2. Passenger seat indents( seat back and base) It will be interesting to see what the dealer says about the seats.

you will gets dents in your seats😂

How long do you plan to keep your 8.5 R? Will we see another ICE R?

I pretty much agree with MJC1216, let’s be honest, most of us on here are VW junkies, but some of us are a little disappointed that the software and quality issues still remain on what is pretty much a car 5 years in the making. Is it the best hot hatch for the money ATM, probably. Could VW have done a better job on the interior, screens and software, definitely. -
-
Don’t lower it! It will over time settle lower, way cooler standard and your car looks great.
-
How are you getting on otherwise? It’s no consolation but I have 5/6 chips, a mud truck went past in the opposite direction flinging mud and stone all over my car, so frustrating. i have developed a fairly good technique, I pop a bit of paint in the chip, let its start to dry, and then use a microfibre cloth and polish out the top layer, repeat until flush. I usually carry this out over a period of weeks, it’s not perfect but to the untrained eye it’s pretty good…

It’s really hard for me to put my finger on it, maybe it’s me, but collectively all these minor points ( in no particular order)make it hard for me to consider this car as a long term proposition. 1. The haptic steering wheel buttons are a real pain, to have to take your eyes off the road to use is dangerously imo. 2. The 2.5k leather seat quality is not good enough, mine came with dents, before i had even sat in the car. 3. The dynamics of the car do not provide the same confidence the 7.5 does. 4. The software faults make me believe VW are not really with the issues, considering the 7.5 finished in 2020, 5 years later they are still getting this wrong 5. The interior quality is down. Every VW I have owned since 1991 has improved(mk4 accepted) to an extent that they produce a car that makes you part with your money, and they are still doing even though the cars are now not improving…… -

I bought mine through motorfinity, and their discount puts the price of the car at what I believe the price should be. I am not hugely convinced with it, it’s better than the mk7.5 in many ways, but falls short on others, but time doesn’t stand still and you have change eventually, otherwise us oldies would still be in our mk2s. i think I will look for something else in the next 12 months. it does look good though. -
Great to see another new owner, not sure if the tyre noise is the Bridgestone tyres or a feature of this car, my Hankooks are noisy compared to the PS4s on my mk7.5, be interested to see if tyres make a difference.
-
Is anyone aware of these issues on the GTI models, just wondered if is was only on the touch style steering wheels.
-
Eco mode on mine turns the Stop start off, other modes its on.....

Are these Germans taking the micky out of us 😂
