  1. Congrats, out of interest were they willing to move much on price? I'm looking for a used one as well and interested to know whether there is much room for movement. Thanks.
  2. Thanks and congrats to you too. The R estate does really appeal as a dad car, plenty of space and some performance when you havent got a baby in the car. I think you might be right that it feels slower due to less torque, I'm sure there is little in it off the line. Interesting that you have the opposite view on the interior, my m240i is the facelift with better interior so maybe that is why unless yours was too? Anyway, that's no big deal for me as it was still decent.
  3. Do you think the 18" prets would be stronger than the 19" version?
  4. How does it compare to drive to the m140i? I have a baby due in September, currently in an m240i which is not suitable and quite fancy a 7.5 R estate. I've had a short accompanied test drive which was difficult to really get a feel for it, other than it felt slower than the BMW and not quite as premium inside. But the suspension felt better and obviously loads of space.
  5. Does anyone know if the 18" S3 alloys are a direct fit for the mk7 R? These are the ones.
  6. Thanks, useful to know. I will be after a nearly new main dealer car as well so lower risk. How much movement was there in the price if you don't mind me asking, and were the free services a consequence of taking out VW finance? I've seen they are offering 2 free services if you take out finance, but the rate is a high 10%!!
  7. Car looks great, sounds like you had a good remote buying experience. I'm also looking to buy soon, and slightly worried about potentially buying a used car unseen and without test drive! Glad it worked out for you. Can I ask whether they were open to much of a discount due to the current situation?
  8. Thanks, yes not interested in cars that topped 40k list price, so that limits it a bit, just frustrating that many cars seem to be all or nothing on the option front. Perfect combo for me would be cloth, dcc and climate windscreen
  9. Thanks for the comments. As I'm buying used I dont need to worry about the original cost, and certainly wouldn't spec it new. Used cars with leather dont seem to command much if any premium over cloth. While my preference would probably be cloth, I am just trying to understand whether leather is liveable if the car otherwise meets my criteria on colour and other spec was good. I'd much prefer to have DCC but hardly any around with that, and those that do are are oftened optioned up with leather, big wheels etc and get expensive.
  10. Sorry to bump up an old thread, but for those with leather in a 7.5, how is it holding up? I'm looking for an estate and undecided on cloth verses leather. I like it in my m240i but worried about comments the leather is a bit cheap in the the golf.
  11. I'm also looking for a 7.5 estate, but probably a MY19 if I can find one well priced. Ideally I want DCC and 18" wheels, but what I've read the ride quality on the 18's is reasonable without the DCC, so perhaps I can live without it. I'd also like heated windscreen and the pano roof, but they seem very rare, if not impossible to get together. I want to keep as low a profile as possible, so ideally avoid colours like Turmeric or Lapiz, so will probably have to be black, Atlantic blue or Indium Grey, and ideally with black mirrors. I'm going to have to accept a lot of compromises sadly as most seem to be very standard spec.
  12. Thanks all, yes I know I'd struggle to find a non lease/pcp car, and I'd also buy in condition anyway, but prefer to avoid if possible. I know some will really look after them but one look at the Facebook group page and it does concern me slightly due to the abuse of of these cars seem to get, through the type of owner or suspect modifications. That is one reason I'm looking at nearly new, and potentially K plate cars if they have been VW management. That is no guarantee but less risk.
  13. I'm considering a used R estate, and would prefer not to buy an ex lease car or hire car. I'm sure some lease drivers treat their cars with respect but suspect many don't, so I'd like to avoid the risk. Is there an easy way to know whether a car is ex lease based on the registration plate or V5 former owner? There appear to a lot of cars registered with a reg starting with K, I believe this are ex VW head office management cars. Could they also be lease cars from VWFS? Any idea what a plate starting with P means? seen quite a few with these as well. Thanks
  14. Have VW confirmed yet whether there will be an R estate in mk8?
  15. Thanks, I actually dont mind the look of the mk8, but think the R version will be at least a year away and maybe longer for the estate. 7k does seem decent given they are still popular, might have a look for any pre registered cars in March to see if they offer better value.
