Not sure if it’ll be on discovercare (vw) as that’s generally for map updates. Let me have a look and I’ll get back to you.

Looks like discovercare is for map updates only Tried Google for updating firmware but couldn’t find anything definite other than taking it to VW!

Anyone know if I purchase a brand new glovebox unit with same part number as one in there now will it be plug and play or will it need coding to car?

It will need coding unfortunately, also you need to be wary of what size screen you have as I think if you dont have nav you will have the smallest screen with the glossy black bevel around it, a newer unit will require a bigger one because of the resolution

I think that's an mib2, if so I'm pretty sure it wont work with your screen if it is the smaller one, it's a different resolution

Odd one mate as just checked mine and that’s definitely part number on the one installed now

65 plate so yours could be mib1 or 2 it's a bit of a minefield, but it all depends on the screen that came with that unit really as I do know for sure that the smaller screen has a different resolution to the larger one, and the newer mib2.5 a bigger resolution yet again.

If the part number match then yours must be a later 65 plate and an mib2 so hopefully all good if it comes to having to replace it, if the VW reset doesn't work, ask them for a price for a new mib.... and then sit down lol

Cheers mate

Yes I can imagine it being eye watering price from dealership!

Mine has engine sound adjustments in individual mode if that helps dictate between mib1/mib2 as I know the earlier mk7 R didn’t have adjustable soundaktor options on screen within individual driving mode!

If it needs replacing I’ll have to go down ebay route then find someone to code it in!

Issue wasn’t bothering me too much until recently but now it’s really annoying me!

Had car nearly 4 years and plan to keep it for many more to come so price to sort it not bothering me too much, just want it sorting and preferably with a brand new unit!

see if I can get some goodwill gesture discount off Volkswagen but unlikely as car is APR mapped 😉

Confusion over! When I said smaller screen I meant this one, there is 5.8", 6.5",8" and 9.2"

Yours looks like 6.5" the one with the lower resolution is the 5.8" 064db1858e25989799d385f177578e9f.jpg
