gtiboy
Hi all, recently my car has been suffering issues where stop start doesn't work or the stereo only powers on speakers to one side of the car if it's been parked up for a few days and not used on long runs for a while, as well as issues with random dash lights coming on and sat nav resetting itself after a route was set. Reading the forums seems this could be battery related. I see new batteries need coding? My question is if I buy a new Bosch battery from Tanya, can dealer's or Kwitfit / Halfords fit the battery and code it in? Note: I don't have a laptop , therefore can't use VCDS or OBD II. would prefer someone to fit and code, any suggestions?
Shug
Surely easier to have a look on internet and find someone locally who can supply and fit all in one go?

Possibly or possibly not. Most dealers will charge a large wad of cash for a type 96 agm battery. Then, if coding it probably another £60 to 80. To answer the OPs question. A dealer or an independent vw audi garage can code it. Or a member on a vw audi forum with either vcds or obd eleven. Edit: The coding is very quick but you do need a vw specific diagnostic tool like VCDs or obd eleven. Unlikely at halfords or KF. Two options appear to me. Get battery, fit it yoursef and then take it to garage to check coding. Could say you broke down and call out changed it. Or call a dealer and/or a specialist and ask for a fitted and coded price before committing. Clearly, it's only fair it will cost more being fitted and coded by a business compared to DIY.
