dv52
Luis: Hi and welcome to the forum (your first post)! My apology if I'm wrong - but from the brevity of your words and from your surname, my guess is that English is not your first language (it's the same for me). If I'm correct, my further guess is that your question "what is your role" was intended to mean - what is the role of the cable in your picture. So, as I have explained in my previous reply above, the Digital Sound Package (let's call it "J525") in your picture has 2 x primary connectors. The bunch of wires that terminate on the big black connector are for the normal power-supply and peripheral devices (including the CAN communication wires). The separate cable that's sitting on top of the J525 housing in your picture looks like the optical fiber cables for the MOST signal. Again, as I say in my previous reply- J525 is connected to a high-speed infotainment bus that uses VW's MOST protocol. This MOST signal is transmitted to each module over optical fiber cables and the set-up is a "ring" type network. This means that there are 2 x separate optical fiber cables for the MOST connections on J525. From your picture - it doesn't look like the optical fiber is a true OEM part. Item 2 in the picture below is the optical fiber connector for the OEM optical cables: Item 1 is a cover to protect the glass cables when they are disconnected (read my caution below) . Given that I suspect that you have not previously used optical fiber cables - be careful!! These cables are prone to dust/detritus falling on the glass end-surface and the glass fibers can be easily broken if the cable is kinked Don Lgm13
Lgm13
I want to thank you immensely for your response. In fact, I'm Brazilian, owner of a 2015 Golf GTI and I'm getting ready to install Dynaudio. I apologize for the bad English, I'm using the translator. I don't know if I understood correctly, but I have fiber optics and it's exactly as you said and illustrated in the photo. But my question is what the function of this cable is, in gray color. I will send another photo of the connector. I suspect that this cable is connected to the MIB, via the quadlock connector (I could be wrong), but I have no idea where I connect it. Again, thank you very much.
dv52
Luis: There is absolutely no need for your apology - I shudder to think of the mess that I would make if this was a Portuguese forum!!!😀 OK - then my guess is that the grey-wire in your hand is the "ring break diagnosis" wire. The MOST system has a ring-break diagnosis wire to simplify fault finding. It's a single wire that is connected to ALL modules on the MOST data bus. The ring-break diagnosis network has a star configuration with the MIB at the hub - see the upper part of my picture below: I show the wiring arrangement for the ring-break diagnosis wire in the lower part of my picture above. I'm not sure if you are familiar with VW's wiring format - but it works like this: Notice the termination in my picture on the Digital sound package (J525) labelled T38 /38 - this means : T38 = a connector with a Total of 38 x pins /38 = pin #38 So, the other end of wire in your hand should be terminated onto pin #38 on the big black connector on J525, The end of the grey-wire with the pin attached should be inserted into the socket position for pin #3 on the 12 x pin connector on the MIB which my picture calls "T12al" Here is a diagram of the Quad-lock connectors on the rear of the MIB: The T12al connector is identified as M in the picture above. Now, if this car has a digital dashboard - it's likely that pin #3 on T12al will already be occupied. This is because the Digital dashboard is also on the MOST ring - so it has its own ring-break diagnosis wire. If pin#3 is already populated - simply splice the grey wire onto the existing wire on pin #3 Hope this makes sense when translated - if not, please ask questions Don Lgm13

I understood perfectly. Thank you very much! Changing the subject, could you tell me what is the ideal route to pass the optical fiber and also this gray cable (from the amplifier to the MIB unit)? Thanks.

My hunch is that your "perfect understanding" is more due to your intellect than my ability to write stuff . English is an appalling language in its written form - I much prefer phonetic languages (Like Portuguese and Italian). In English, even the term "phonetic" is NOT phonetic!!😜 But, thank you for your generous words 10 hours ago, Lgm13 said: Changing the subject, could you tell me what is the ideal route to pass the optical fiber and also this gray cable (from the amplifier to the MIB unit)? hmm......... alas it's been far too long since I last did this project. My over-fondness for single-malt and the billions of brain-cells that I have destroyed means that can't remember!! Maybe use Mr Google - there must be dozens of webpages/videos that explain the wiring route A further point that I failed to make in my previous reply about the ring-break wire is that if T12al, pin #3 on the MIB is vacant on this car - the MIB will almost certainly not be coded for the ring-break function. In this case, you will need to activate ring-break diagnosis on the MIB by changing the 2 x adaptation channels below: IDE03902-Automatic ring break diagnostic > Automatic start IDE04521-Sporadic ring break detection > optical PLUS, of course if this car was not factory built with MOST enabled, you will need to also activate this function in the MIB as a separate code-change. This is done be setting Byte 19, Bit 5 =1 on the long-code string for the 5F module. Lgm13

Excellent, you helped me a lot. Thanks!! I will probably have to run the optical fiber under the panel or near the console, until it reaches the other side and finally the MIB unit. When finished, I will post photos of the process. Ellipsis11
Hi all, Thanks so much for all the information in this thread (and others) in aiding this retrofit! I am currently in the process of fitting a 2nd hand loom into my 5dr Mk7 but have got a bit stuck with the rear door connectors during the repinning. My new loom has two pairs of wires for each rear door (bass and tweeters) which I had anticipated pinning in place of my existing (non-Dynaudio factory) wiring. However, upon removing the door connectors, I have only found speaker wiring in pins 3 and 4 (for bass) and no existing wiring for tweeters. My plea for help; which pin positions should the Dynaudio tweeter wiring go into? I now also realise there will not be any corresponding connections in the door harness, so will need to rewire the tweeters from the door side to match the dynaudio pin positions. Whilst I have access to ETKA, my VIN only brings up wiring for my stock system so is of limited help. Many thanks in advance,
dv52
@Ellipsis11: Hi. I'm not sure that I entirely understand your wants - but here is the wiring arrangement for the rear speakers on the external amplifier for the Dynaudio system: My apology if I have misunderstood you needs - If so, maybe try restating your wants using different words Don EDIT: Maybe the information below is what you want? Ellipsis11
Hi Don, Many thanks for your reply - the bottom diagram is what I needed, it is the wire position of TTHL that I didn’t know - but now I do. Many thanks
SpursMadDave
Having heard the Dynaudio in a MK7.5 I am glad I went with the Audison package, all very plug & play and sounds better imo

Saying that for most listeners the dynaudio is great as it has some bass and volume which is sadly lacking in a standard system. If your someone like me who's had many after market installs including old school equipment from the likes of Nakamichi, Soundstream, Bowers & Wilkins then the vw dynaudio system will be found lacking in certain areas. Definitely one to spec from factory looking at the amount of work to retrofit.

Yes agreed the Dynaudio is a big improvement over standard, I first fitted a Helix sub and then went for the Audison Golf package which is much better than the Helix or Dynaudio options and not a huge amount of work to fit. It does mean changing the door speakers and I changed the tweeters too. Still not a patch on the B&W I've had in other cars but extremely good 👌 Kudos to someone going to all the trouble of retrofitting a Dynaudio system though
Td123
Thanks to all who've added to this very useful write-up! Much appreciated. I'm just about to start this mod on my new (to me) 7.5 Golf that came with standard speakers & MIB2 & have a question - looking at the underseat amp, 5G003456 some are suffixed with an A or C (eg 5G003456A), usually the later versions after 2014. Any idea what the difference is, I don't want to install & find it's not compatible/missing something.
dv52
hmm... a case of not enuff digits!!! 😀 I suspect you mean 5G0035456 (or, 5G0-035-456) - not "5G003456"! Don
