Hi guys!
First before this goes any further Im not looking for a "maps are better" or "do you think you still have a warranty" chat, this has been discussed in depth in several other threads.
So I've now had the updated DTUK software for about a week and decided I would share my experience with you guys. I have also had my R at Crail yesterday so I have some data to share with you, sadly however I haven't had the car on the 1/4 mile using the old tuning box software only the new one.
I have owned the car for 9000 miles and would say I have done about 5000 with no tuning, 3000 with an APR intake and old tuning box software, 500 with VWR springs and the final 500 with the new software.
Going from the standard car to the tuning box I found the most considerable difference from about third gear onwards pulling hard into the higher regions of the speed limit.. I personally found little difference in the initial pull making the extra power only really usable already moving with a bit of pace, 40mph plus.
Going forward onto the new software I found the difference noticeable not in how hard the car pulls but instead where it pulls from, from around 20mph it shoves you back into your seat and doesn't stop until, well I don't know because I haven't got there! So in short the real update to the software is in where the power comes in. I don't have any graphs to back this up but I do have 1/4 mile times I will post below.
Some of the important but slightly less interesting stuff like fuel economy, gear shifts etc feel no different from standard on the new box software but I guess some data logging would be required to confirm this.
Onto the good stuff, times times times! Both sets of times were set in similar temperatures on the same drag strip, Crail Raceway.
These are the times running the car completely standard no modifications:
These are the car presently, APR Intake, New DTUK software and VWR springs (Yes they got my name wrong )
As you can see the times are notably faster as you expect but I think the most notable thing is the terminal speed difference, I think the reason there is such a large increase is because of how early the new software is bringing in the extra power, this is purely speculation I have no graphs to back this up.
I finished with the best time in the 2000cc Turbo class however there wasn't really anything there of a similar level to the R so probably not a fair judge of performance. The video below is against another Golf R with APR stage 1 but the car is manual and the launch isn't really good enough to be a fair comparison but still worth a watch!

I hope you found this at least a bit informative, thanks for reading!
