New battery fitted, no issues since. Changed to a Bosch S5 AGM, found the OEM battery from factory wasn’t actually adapted to the car, not sure if it was missed at PDI or when built. Think one of the cells was dead/dying though. Surprised it lasted as long as it did tbh, low miles helps and I always keep a maintainer/trickle charger on when parked up.

I think all is fine mechanically, thanks for your input, it's much appreciated! Thinking about it again this morning and looking through the log, something stuck out to me, the battery voltage is showing on a lot of those modules as around 12.2v - 12.3v which is low considering the car was running at idle. I will double check what it outputs later today at idle, I think possibly a battery cell had a funny five minutes in the near 50 degree heat it was suffering in the engine bay. Basically like unplugging a lot of modules as you say! I decided as the battery is now 8+ years old that I would just replace it for a new Bosch AGM unit to rule that out or any issues in the future. It doesn't make much sense to me that the ABS codes would have been triggered by their brake rollers as the codes are for the left hand side only, plus everything else that was thrown...

If the MOT brake rollers are for both axles or designed to accommodate Haldex AWD, then I don't think it's an issue. It's down to one set of wheels being spun up and the other set being left still with the driveshafts etc spinning underneath, the haldex would take up the difference but not in a good way from what I have read.. If the haldex is older/the clutch is more worn it doesn't seem to be an issue though I believe. Presumably the clutch just spins in the haldex if it's worn. Yeah not many miles so far, been busy the last few years so in use less than intended, with that being said it will get a lot more miles in years to come. I don't plan to get rid of it having owned it from new. No check engine light, just ABS, traction, TPMS flashing and cornering lights. Most of the modules were over 45 degrees C looking at the logs, so I don't think they pushed the brakes too hard, it was about 30 degree's outside and it was idling sat still so the bay would have been very warm.. The steering assist (Presumably steering rack?) was at 55 degrees C - I don't think the car left Kwik-Fit as I waited for it, the car park is big enough that he could have done the decelerometer without going onto the road. Could just be random or perhaps the battery had a funny five minutes in the heat. Really just want to make sure that I'm not going to get issues down the line from this if they have done something in error to the AWD/brake system.. seems odd to me that it's effected the steering assist and cornering lights also though, although perhaps it's linked. I read about a sensor that manages everything and can be upset, SARA possibly? it does seem okay now the faults have been cleared and I have HEX-NET on the way for more detailed info in case anything comes back. You're right about the fault codes and being handed back to me like it, I did question it and was told it would clear on the drive home. It did, but it came and went the whole journey until I cleared the faults with VCDS - Wondering if the stored faults kept making the light come back as it thought something was out of range. All the stored fault times are a couple of minutes before I got in the car to drive off, so it happened at the end of the test.

Car went in for it's 5th MOT yesterday, was told on collection this is normal after using a decelerometer to measure the brakes, never had it before though. Not convinced they didn't just put it on the brake rollers, but codes only for the left side? Was at my local Kwik Fit and they 100% only had a 2 roller brake tester, they did it last year no issues at all, but I notice it was a different tester. Warning lights went on and off all the way home about 5 times. VCDS scan when home showed the log attached, errors in lots of things like the battery is on the way out. The car hadn't been driven for a while, it's always on a battery maintainer in the garage. I thought it could be the battery dying after 8 years but overnight charge holds at 12.8v without the maintainer connected and has never shown any signs of an issue. I've cleared all the faults and plan to upgrade my VCDS shortly so that I could see the meaning of the UDS codes in future, what does everyone think? I don't want a damaged diff/haldex if they have caused problems, should I complain or worry about it? Anything I can check in the AWD/ABS? I drove it this morning and it seems okay. So after just over 3 years, this thread needs an update! My mileage is nearly at 10k with this car being only used at the weekends, the past three years have been relatively un-eventful except for loving the drive which is a good thing. I had the drivers window regulator replaced under warranty by VW (Caffyns in Haywards Heath) - The drivers window made a clicking noise when going up and down from brand new. In the process they managed to damage my door card, after waiting months for it to arrive I decided I wanted to fit it myself rather than risk Caffyns HH techs working on my car again. They were fine with that, except they ordered me a door card without the top trim piece and the only way to transfer the trim from the old card is to cut the melted plastic pegs from behind and glue it back to the new card. I didn't fancy that, being that the door release latch is connected to this. So it's just been left as is with the damaged card and the new one in a box in the garage. The damage isn't awful, but considering it was a VW main dealer, damaging a door card is pretty useless. The laughable thing is that I had that card off a few times myself and did not put a mark on the car or break any clips... Oh well life goes on! Photos say more than words... The windscreen was also replaced by Autoglass with a VW item which took a couple of weeks extra 🤨 I'm not 100% sure if they fitted the correct screen after reading a few things from other owners, I think there is a seal missing which goes from the windscreen to the pan-roof but I can't prove it as I don't have a good enough photo of the area from before. It doesn't leak, but I can see windscreen sealant when looking down the gap which I'm sure isn't right. Another thing I have to sort out! It's also not in the centre... OCD overload!! 🤯 Now for some fun stuff.. Racingline R600 intake with Racingline SIlicone Intake Elbow in Black, Racingline Turbo Inlet Elbow and Muffler Delete fitted as well. Before, during and after! Racingline Oil management kit, Billet dipstick and oil cap as well as Black Racingline paddles. GFB DV+ Racingline Intercooler And finally APR Stage 1 ECU High Torque with APR TCU tunes courtesy of QS Tuning in Haywards Heath, big thanks to Alex and the guys there, a superb service. I would thoroughly recommend them! The car is something else now 😳 Stage 2 coming soon with planned APR downpipe and exhaust, just waiting on some cash for my R pot or a deal! 😎 Then brakes and it's getting there.

My car is coming up to 3 years old on the 28th of July, it's done 9500 odd miles in that time. It's due an MOT of course and a service, I'm also led to believe it's due a brake fluid change and perhaps an air con service too. I would like to do all of the service work myself with genuine parts, I don't feel confident in any of my local VW dealers. I plan to keep the receipts for parts as proof and keep the service book updated myself as I don't plan to ever sell the car anyway. My doorcard was damaged replacing a window regulator on the first trip to my local dealer, I won't go into more detail than that. I plan to change the Haldex oil and clean the filter at the same time as doing an engine oil and filter change. I will also be reseting the service reminder with VCDS. I have noticed no coolant smell or leaks or anything else common with these cars really, is there anything I should check on VCDS or in general before my warranty expires? I'm still on the factory turbo and coolant pump although the car is MY16 so doesn't have early parts. I have stage 2 plans once the warranty has expired! Cheers!

I had a look in the car this morning (Haven't been at home!) and the recall is stated on the invoice, but the recall notice that I'm sure I had a copy of is no where to be seen. Annoyingly, I was in a hurry when I dropped it in for service so didn't read it properly to see what it covered. Having spent some more time having a play, it seems the interface has been made slightly more crisp and new options have been added to driver profile but still no sign of performance monitor or anything similar

I had those options show up too. It seemed very different and yet the same to me somehow. I didn't ask about the recall specifically but I do have the info from it. I'll have a look...

Sorry to revive this thread after a couple of months.. Has anyone got a MY17 yet to see what the performance monitor looks like now? I had a big software update recall on my MY16 yesterday at the dealers and I'm wondering if this was part of it. Would be interested to see anyone's R with a MY17 car and no nav. Couple more things to add to this thread, iOS 9 has massively improved the performance of Apple Maps. It is now more than usable as a full time sat nav. Also, there is no hardware to allow CarPlay via Bluetooth in any VW currently. This may change, but as it stands it must be connected by USB.

Surely it would be easier to just put all your music on your iPhone? If your iPod has BT it's presumably an iPod Touch... Why do you need both? I could understand if it was an iPod Classic with a massive library of music on it, although with iTunes Match and a 128GB iPhone, why would you need that either!?
