  1. The resale value of them all fall off a cliff tbh.
  2. If an estate is needed, there’s the Seat Leon Cupra AWD, which comes as an estate and is far better looking than the Golf estate imo. A mate of mine has one ordered!
  3. It can vary a bit but why sweat it? Your car still has the wrappers on. It’s been driven from factory - train - onto ship - onto truck. Anything more than 50km I might query but then again I think they can reset it to zero when it’s still in transport mode.
  4. Exactly. I ordered a few weeks after you. A car I subsequently cancelled and it landed in before the end of January!
  5. Your car was probably factory allocated before they got deleted from builds. The exhaust and paint job then likely delayed your actual delivery.
  6. Whip out the drawers and the other missing bits from your current car before you trade it in...
  7. From what I saw, the leather in the facelift is a bit better. The perforated effect (those speckled dots) will probably help alleviate the sagging that they are prone to. Mine were OK after 30k kms. The passenger seat still looked almost new but then again I didn't carry passengers in it that often! The drivers seat used to go shiny which looked crap but I found a bit of leather cleaner helped and brought back the matt finish. I used to find they heated up quick enough but never really roasted you. On the top setting in the BM seats you'd fry an egg 😂
  8. I applaude your bravery but that’s an insane price to pay for what was a standard €600 colour imo. VW are taking the Mickey. But fair play all the same, it’s a nice colour and if you’re happy that’s the main thing! that exhaust should be very lovely though! Won’t see many Irish cars with that - or the paint!
  9. Looks great. But 2.8k for silver metallic paint? Wtf... stone mad! Surely reflex silver is not a “special order” colour?
  10. Are you thinking of changing to a new one Neil?!
  11. As I said in my first reply, you need VCDS or OBDEleven to get the speedo itself to switch units.
  12. It's great, well used to it by now, no complaints, happy with the choice overall. That said, any time I see an R on the road (rare enough admittedly - I hardly ever see R's tbh), I get some pangs of regret!
  13. Ahh, I was thinking it might be yours! It fairly caught my eye, the reg is pretty cool! Why do you have to get rid? Big change in circumstances?! Pity to get rid so soon...
  14. Pretty sure you’ll need to use VCDS or something like OBD 11 if you want the Speedo to switch to/from kms Miles. The menus in the system itself will only go as far as letting you change the units for the trip meter, fuel consumption, etc. Anything else requires coding.
  15. Dead right - you've done really well out of it! My point was, even when the dealer is sound (and in this case he's gone above and beyond), their opinions on spec or otherwise should be taken with a large dose of salt. DCC will do little or nothing for the resale value, any options you spec on a car are for your own pleasure, some of them will make the car a bit more desirable come sell on time but you won't see very much money back on them.
  16. You did well - but the "DCC being a must for resale" is bullshit tbh. He sounds like a good guy to be fair but is clearly a complete spoofer too like them all! Its funny because when I was spec'ing the replacement R myself the 2 or 3 salesmen I spoke to specifically said I was wasting my money spec'ing DCC
  17. Jesus that is a great outcome imo! Win win! Its always a good idea imo to get the dealer to send you screen shots of the car's spec on his system shortly after the order goes through. That system is a direct link to the factory afaik... I bet the DCC was never on that car in the system from the outset... if the dealer had looked it it closely enough early on he'd surely have spotted the mistake.
  18. Yeah its amazing but I suppose mistakes can happen! The red stripe missing from the headlight is a really daft one, how that was not spotted until it landed at the dealers is unreal.
  19. Nice one, you've done well I think! So you are still in your "old" car right? They didn't let you drive away in the wrong spec'd car? That would be a result, albeit a very unlikely scenario! Have you another 12 weeks to wait now so? Thats the killer...
  20. Factory cock ups happen - much more regularly than you'd think. I've seen all sorts. Cars arriving with wrong wheels is common, I've seen a GTI that landed in with a wrong headlamp (GTD version, no red stripe!), I've seen cars come in with "leather" interior with some parts of the leather missing (e.g. door cards in cloth).... And only recently a bunch of Irish cars came in with no CarNet but I think that was a VW Ireland cock up.
  21. I met "172 - G - 7" (cool reg!) Indium grey R on the road this morning. I could see it coming in the distance with the LED DRL's! Looked very well... I suspect the owner is occasionally on here?
  22. It’s typical VW. When they make the model year changes especially (mid year) but also in or around November time, they tend to make “tweaks” sometimes good tweaks but often bad ones, especially when the model is older / all new model on horizon (as per the Golf). So they’ve deleted those drawers, the isofix covers, the battery cover, part of the engine cover and probably several other bits and bobs. All together, they would add up to only a few quid but in a large production run it probably saves them a nice wedge. They have to pay their heavy fines somehow...
  23. I know exactly how you feel. I had a couple of attempts on mine, fortunately I caught them in the act and they didn’t get it. I also live in a very quiet / sleepy area. But I decided it wasn’t worth the aggro and got rid.
