Rattle vibration from passenger side
davetherave replied to davetherave's topic in VW Golf R MK7 Chat
Forgot I even owned a Golf R lol until this email alert popped up After 3 E92 M3's, and currently in a W204 C63. I can honestly say I do not miss the R, the only thing I miss is the ACC. But just makes it a less engaging car. C63 with an MSL remap, wow!!! Funnily enough I have a rattle on the dash of my C63 from the centre speaker/Parking sensor unit. Its just something loose and needs a plastic prizing tool to open it. Thanks for reminding me -
yeah been looking at stratstone, but id go for the M2 Comp tbh. Just a 4k deposit, it if was 2k I would get it in a heartbeat.
-
Yeah looked at drive the deal, but was coming back at around 300 same as pretty much all golf r lease deals, think vehicle saves has the best one I found for 295 or something. 250 I would jump into as lease deal on a R, renault have the megane rs for around 250 which seems pretty good, need to test drive it first. And yes the E92 is amazing, the engine noise is evil, especially when going 4k-8k revs and the vanos kicks in, heaven lol. The exhaust sound stick isn't great, as wit most M cars, unless you have the M power exhaust, but a trip to pcw exhaust mods fixes that and gives the exhaust the sound it should have. Yeah the V8 is beautiful and being naturally aspirated, although I do miss the turbo low down. I test drove the F80, it was great, but not as engaging as the E92 IMO, Your so right about RWD and winter, with the R I wold need to stage 1 it, just to bring it up near to the E92 lol. Yeah RWD are so much more fun, accelerating into corners and sliding, wheel spins etc something you wont get with audi or vw lol.

Anyone seen any decent deals on the R? November is normally when we see the pcp deals at their best. Renault have the Megane RS for around 250, which to me seems pretty good.
-
Been out of the loop with R for a while, but might be getting back into one, possibly on lease. I need to stage 1 it, whats the deal with remapping lease cars? Are VW now able to detect it, even if removed when going in for a service? I am guessing remapping a non vw lease car and getting away with it, will be easier than molesting a car leased direct from vw?
-
The naturally aspirated V8s are great compared to the newer turbo ones IMO

If you need a big estate car, and like the 4wd maybe a rs4 or rs6 depending on budget? SVR, panamera? M5 is a great option, C63 as someone mention another great option, I would go for the old 6.2 one though not the new one. Talking of V8's..my current car after my previous R is an E92 M3 V8 Comp, absolutely shits on the R from a great height. Don't get me wrong the R is a great toy, and I am looking for one as a daily, but that's what it is, a toy, not a mans car.
-
Yes sell it, no point having it to drive once a week, my M3 is a once/twice a week car. A Golf R is not this type of car, it needs to be driven around like a go kart. I am in the market again for my 3rd Golf R, for the purposes of having it for my daily, so I can rag the life out of it and have some fun.

Been a while, still got my E92. Well I sold the original one i bought and got a FSE E92 with lower mileage etc as I love it so much lol. Great car, the R is fun, but he E92 is much more engaging. Took a while to get used to, driving sideways down a road a couple times when it was spitting a tiny amount of rain wasnt a nice experience lol. But the noise, the looks it gets, the V8 etc. Only thing is the torque on these is not great down below, and you also need to high rev it, which aint a bad thing, but it would be nice to have some turbo lag now and again lol. I am now at the end of my PCP with my daily, a clio! So I have been looking at options, I have gone through everything, S3, old RS3, S1, Abarth, old c63, B7, M135i etc etc etc even contemplated an F80 and F10, my only gripe is another RWD car. I want to have some fun and owning 2 RWD isnt going to give me that, it will give me near death experiences. I am 90% sure I will be getting back into the R within the next month or so, and keep the E92 away for weekends/dry days when it needs a good thrashing. I also want to cherish it and keep the mileage low as its an edition and shoudlnt depreciate to much, the E46 are now appreciating so who knows...I am also going to get an E46 next year, after I sorted the daily out, but thats another story. I do miss the R, and compared to everything else on the market, i think it ticks all the boxes for ther perfect daily, I want power, and a stage 1 will me mental. I have been looking at some PCP deals but nothing seems great, I may wait out until November as all the good deals are available then. My mate who has trade access has seen a few go through auction on the cheap, around 12-14k. So maybe I go 14 plate with 40-60k on the clock and just rag it around. Any one seen any decent PCP deals? Or think they will start coming up soon around November? I would like new, warranty etc. But then I wont be able to stage 1 it or rag it around so much. So a older one might be better suited for a daily. Any known faults arrised, they have been around for a while now and a lot are starting to reach high mileage and will start showing faults. I am guessing the clutch is still chocolate on the manuals, haldex services etc. I remember reading someone having con rod issues?? I am aware of this issue on the E92, but most of the time its down to the driver ragging it from cold.

Yes my friend had a C63, is was so comfortable. He also knows someone with a E92 com pack who said it can be a little harsh, but its a track car I guess
-
Just out of curiosity, what did you prefer out of the C63 and the M3?
-
haha, yes when I was a kid, seeing them fly by, E30's, those were the days Its a itch that needs scratching, I am not sure if I will keep it or sell it. I may keep for a few months then sell, or I may fall in love. We will see, the money I paid I will get my money back no problem. I miss the R though, really do. I always questioned it, but when I got inside and drove all those questions stopped and always gave me a smile.
-
Yeah complete opposites, will miss racing home cutting in and out lol. Sensible driving from now on I guess
-
Yeah I have witnessed many BM's ass go all over the place, and also beat all of the line in my R. No more red light grand prix for me anymore. Like Jon said, just have to be extra careful, throwing it around bends could be fun. Winter driving it will be extra careful, once its dry it will be better
-
E92 Comp pack is 414BHP!
-
Its the main concern for me to be honest But many people say its more fun/thrilling and engaging than just being able to go fast in a straight line

I found a car, a great car I think/hope lol. 2011 E92 M3 Competition Pack, 2 Previous, 64k with main dealer FSH. I think its a perfect example, just hope the car is for me. My concern is the front wheel drive, I am so used to flooring it in the R from standing and in any conditions, will have to constantly remind myself. I hope I can tame and control it, cause drifting could be fun. I am happy, its a big change from the R which I miss already but its a different beast and cant wait to collect, just need to get my ass on a train for 2.5 hours to pick it up. I will be heading over to the M3 forums mostly now so I want to thank everyone on this forum, such a goldmine for help. You guys helped my R journey amazingly, keep up the good work as we have plenty of R noobs buying every day. I will be back I am sure, I already plan on getting another R. Ideally, if I like the M3 that'll be the weekender, and once finances are good I can get a R as a daily. The best daily car ever, love my R. 😞 And GTI owners, cmon its time to upgrade to a mans car. Get a R FFS, stop driving the missus's car around lol

Good tips will remember for the future
-
How do I activate this? I noticed in my manual R when I started it, the you could see the lights leveling themselves, I do not get this in my DSG. Thanks for reminding me
-
I found when selling cars privately, especially 20k or above, most people will go to a dealer and pay a grand or so more just for piece of mind/warranty, even though a lot of dealers warranties are worth nothing.
-
Whats the mileage? you got a link to advert or any photos? I may be interested next week whens mines, I haven't owned a 3 door yet, so it gives me a valid excuse to buy another R
-
They just stick them straight into in auctions and make a big profit, same with dealers who part x, they make a massive one too. Best bet is to advertise for around or just over what they are offering and hold out for a buyer, one will come. Try motorways if no one has already mentioned. My mate works in the trade, and has access to a dealer only site where a lot of other dealers sell the part x's , some great deals.
-
Good luck, also if you shop around have seen a fair few 14 plate MK7's for around 14k, which isn't much more than the MK6. Sure they are high mileage, 3 door etc. But If I see another one pop up at at the price, I'll buy one and keep forever.
-
It is difficult, as many have said the R probably is the best bang for buck out there. Nothing else quite packs a punch, I just got home and when I was driving I thought I can quite easily see my self getting another, just an upgraded one. with some prets, sunroof, keyless, sub etc. I am also considering the RS3, but I will need to test drive one first as I am concerned of its weight compared to the R.

Utter C***S They offered me a great price December last year, 500 less than what I paid. I was blown away considering I had it for 5 months. worked out 100 pm for the R lol. Cause the log book wasn't in my name for 6 months I had to show proof of purchase which I did, all good, car sold, they said will have to go to head office for the ok and you'll get your money tomorrow. Got a email the next day telling me cause its from a trade sale from a private auction they cannot accept the proof of sale lol, and asked me to pick the car up. I thought ok I was in 2 minds to sell and love the car. This month the V5 has been in my name for 6 months, so I decided to try again as the private sale was slow, C***S offered me 20k lol, 1500 less than a month before. I begrudgingly said ok as a neighbor caused some damage and just wanted rid of it, the W****R then gets a call from another W****R saying they cant take the vehicle as its come from trade/auction and they will never take it. My experience with them is shite, my mate has had great success, and bought many cars from auctions before and sold them a month or so later to these C****S with no issues, granted mine was 20k and his was a few grand, he seems to think cause of the value they wont touch it, and also cause I alerted them already with the receipt where its from, had I waited until 6 months they wouldn't have noticed. Just pay the extra for instant payment to avoid any messing around in terms of them refusing to take the car after.
