Has anyone lost their dark mode for the screen following these updates? I have some horrible hybrid. I also can’t find the option now and am beginning to wonder if I imagined the car ever having it?

I’ve had a payout from them pending hopeful resolution to the majority of my main issues in a future software update. They’ve stated they’re happy to re-look at the situation if it’s not resolved in 12 months.

On the above, my dealers have been pretty useless on the charger. I have the exact same issue. I also mentioned it doesn’t charge (I’m assuming due to the heat), the dealer told me it’s more a battery ‘holder’ than a charger. They then said it was so slow as it was designed for long journeys but also then tried to explain it got so hot as it was only meant to be used for 20/30 mins at a time… My other issues: - Intermittent rattle from passenger tweeter - Pot luck as to which profile the car selects despite keys being assigned - Pot luck whether it picks my phone up or my wife’s on CarPlay, again regardless of profile/key - Apple CarPlay skips every 20 seconds or so, really really annoying this one! Then there’s the ones that I suspect are perfectly normal but still grate on me: - Exhaust valves switching on every start up - Slight knocking at low speeds or when turning the wheel - The clicking noise with the windows open - Climate never remembers the fact it’s been synced - Driving mode always returns to Sport on startup. I’m on 1803, the dealer aren’t able to do anything or haven’t really given me any response despite having the car 4 times now. Ended up raising a complaint through VWFS. I should say, I do really like the thing but my god there’s some little annoyances.

Haha I’ve spent the past 5 minutes trying to get my photobucket account from a decade ago going again. Yep, that’s the one, thanks. Also your pic shows a considerably cleaner wheel mine so a blessing. Only noticed it today after trying to locate where a subtle low speed knocking sound was coming from.

Has anyone noticed similar with their front discs? I’m on 1803 and having a nightmare with mine. Mine goes back in to VW in a couple of weeks but given I think this is still the latest software not sure what remedy they’ll be able to find.

Not on navigation like that, but mine skips for half a second every 30 seconds or so on a song. Also, if I press pause/skip/play, it takes a couple of seconds before the action is completed. I must admit the whole car feels it hasn’t got the computing power to carry out half the requested actions software wise.

Yep I have this too, again only notice it with the windows open. It’s pretty far down my current list of issues however would be interested if anyone finds out what it is.

This may seem a silly question, but if I do change it to save my PIN, would that allow anyone to delete my profile with my key? Basically if it’s stolen and I’ve saved my PIN, could the thieves deactivate the profile easily with the PIN saved so I can’t view the location of the car in the We Connect app?

I get the ‘Your vehicle settings are changing’ message and it’s really annoying. Either cancel or select ok and it reboots the whole infotainment and flashes the blind spot lights, and then chucks the climate out at full pelt for good measure. Annoying!

So just got the car back today after it being in for many software issues. Fingers crossed post software update it’s a bit better. VW not having the wireless charger issue so far though saying it’s not throwing up any errors. 2 separate phones that overheat to the point of turning off. They’ve also told me not to expect it to charge but more hold the battery at the current level. Not so sure on that, not expecting USB-C speed but still... Oh and on the way home noticed a really annoying rattle somewhere around the rear view mirror. So no doubt it will be in again soon enough.

Should the car detect which profile to load automatically based on the key used to unlock/start the car?

Yeah phone is paired. Both have been as we share the car. I do have a silicone cover too. Even when the phone wasn’t on the pad it felt really hot still, so think there might be an issue with that one.

So, I could turn this into a million questions, only got the thing today! But I’ll start with a couple... Should the wireless CarPlay be linked to a profile? When we got in the car earlier today it automatically connected to my wife’s phone rather than mine. What was more annoying is I couldn’t then find how to disconnect that and connect my phone. Also, anyone else’s wireless charger get really hot? It got so hot my phone kicked out an error message and had to turn itself off. Going to have to get it back in with VW I think.

Just collected mine this morning, ordered 11 Jan. Feel very lucky I’ve not been caught up in delays, but also very guilty as mine has been sat at the dealers for 2 months until I was ready to collect.

Does anyone know the standard service intervals on the Golf? Trying to weigh up whether maintenance is worth is for the next 3 years.

I’m not sure, I’ve asked how long they can hold it, as much as I want to tell them I want it the second it arrives.

Just had word from the dealer. Mine is on the boat. Now for the issue of trying to actually resist collecting too early. It’s actually arrived a bit too quick for me, was more hoping for April/May delivery.

This could be a silly question. But given I’ve not had chance to test drive a Golf 8 yet, how do you change the DSG to manual? In my Cupra and I believe the 7.5 R, you just move the gear selector to the left from drive to engage manual, then use the paddles fully manually. You can also just use the paddles to engage manual but this seems like an almost half manual mode that sometimes disengages itself. With the new selector, doesn’t look like you can move it to the left so wondering if it’s through the paddles only? Sorry if the above makes zero sense...
