My car had it’s first service almost 3 weeks ago now. As it is one of the newer Golfs it doesn’t have a service history book. Does anyone know how long it takes for the services to show up on the MyVW website and app? I have a printout from the dealer so covered that way, and a service has been deducted from my service plan account.

Hey guys, First of all, I'm new to the forum so apologies if I'm posting in the wrong section or making a topic I shouldn't be. I'm currently looking at getting a used mk7 Golf R and I've found one I'm looking to make an offer on (likely in next week or so) but wanted a little guidance if possible. I've looked through all the subsections of this forum and I've read through the used buying guide I found (https://www.vwroc.com/forums/topic/25237-used-mk7-r-buying-guide/) but I'm posting this topic as a I have a specific question I needed help with. The car I'm looking at is a 2015 model, around 50k miles on the clock - it's a DSG version which from my research is a sturdy and generally unproblematic transmission but my concern is that the service history on the car doesn't take note of any Haldex or DSG servicing, which I thought it should have had by now at 40k and especially as it's 5 years old. I spoke to the main dealer who did two services on the car and they confirmed the transmission & Haldex service didn't take place - one additional service took place at an independent garage but I can't contact them to determine exactly what they did, I suspect they are currently closed due to covid. To my knowledge, the onboard computer tells you oil change and service intervals without going into specifics so I don't think that will answer my question either. My question - is this a car to walk away from? VW have confirmed to me they will do a fixed-price service should I choose to buy it but I'm worried it might be a case of a transmission giving up if it's not been looked after and serviced, especially given the apparent cost of replacing DSG. I will likely take out a 1 year warranty at a minimum if going for the car. You may well tell me it's not really an issue, I wanted some advice basically as this will be my first (potential) DSG purchase. Thanks in advance and hope you're all well and safe.

Today was the first service I had to pay for on my 2yo 2018 golf r it was a oil service they took 35mins .1litre oil,1oil filter, engine flash, 1drain plug, £222 pounds witch I thought was expensive any one else think the same or is this normal for VW dealers.

Last year VW broke my car by servicing my Haldex and it didnt work properly afterwards. In doing so charged my extended warranty (inchcape one) £550 to fix it by replacing the pump. Last years bill was around £400 to service and MOT. This years the muppets have serviced and MOT'd the car at a mear £550 Major service (sparks, pollen, oil, e.t.c, DSG and MOT). So driving it home I nearly died overtaking a lorry, fortunatly it didnt fully break down the first time I used full throttle and I managed to complete my overtaking manouvre. The car is misfiring like a good-un (under heavyish throttle) and since I have to work tomorrow and my Dad has offered to take it to VW. So I took him out to show him. In the process of showing him what it did, I got the limp mode and EPC light on and basically wouldn't move (at least now its got a fault code stored bonus..). So hypotheisis on the issue: a) Spark plug loose in cylinder 2 b) Spark plug is faulty in cylinder 2 c) Broke a coil pack on cyliner 2 d) stripped the threads on cylinder 2 spark plug and needs a cylinder new head... Lets hope not. answers on a post code, only time will tell tomorrow. I think I wont be going there ever again!! since they went from independant to Vertu they have definetly gone down hill. Fortunatly I have borrowed my Mums GT 150 TSI and got 47.8mpg on the way home. Left mine with my Dad so he can take it up there tomorrow. 2 Faults Found: 15074 - Cylinder Disabling P130A 00 [096] - - Intermittent - Not Confirmed - Tested Since Memory Clear Freeze Frame: Fault Status: 00000001 Fault Priority: 2 Fault Frequency: 1 Mileage: 43493 km Date: 2018.09.04 Time: 19:02:38 Engine speed: 4224.75 /min Normed load value: 79.6 % Vehicle speed: 79 km/h Coolant temperature: 103 °C Intake air temperature: 23 °C Ambient air pressure: 1020 mbar Voltage terminal 30: 13.164 V Unlearning counter according OBD: 40 Engine: operating status: PL N_TOOTH: 4125 /min T_AST_SAE: 447 s Engine oil temperature: 99.0 °C STATE_LS_SAE[1]: OL_ERR FUP_H_SAE: 19550.0 kPa FUP_EFP_MES: 5083.84 hPa 15128 - Cylinder 2 P0302 00 [100] - Misfire Detected Intermittent - Not Confirmed - Tested Since Memory Clear Freeze Frame: Fault Status: 00000001 Fault Priority: 2 Fault Frequency: 1 Mileage: 43493 km Date: 2018.09.04 Time: 19:02:37 Engine speed: 4021.25 /min Normed load value: 76.1 % Vehicle speed: 75 km/h Coolant temperature: 104 °C Intake air temperature: 23 °C Ambient air pressure: 1020 mbar Voltage terminal 30: 13.144 V Unlearning counter according OBD: 40 Engine: operating status: PL N_TOOTH: 4032 /min T_AST_SAE: 447 s Engine oil temperature: 99.0 °C STATE_LS_SAE[1]: CL FUP_H_SAE: 16440.0 kPa FUP_EFP_MES: 5548.18 hPa

Hey all Just wondering-i want to get my buddy to service the car as oppose to the dealer-im scared the dealer will do software updates and reset the map or something..but its not just that its really a trust issue So im just wondering if anyone has a service plan for the Golf R? Maybe from 1st service to 3rd or beyond? Thanks

I have ordered my R on a 2 year 20k miles contract hire, does anybody know what servicing the R will need over this period and this amount of miles? Any ideas to the pricing would be useful too so it won't be a major shock when I see the bill! Thanks!
