Dr Mike Oxgreen
Lovely job, Rebecca. The car looks spectacular! I have run out of Garage Therapy Wheel Shampoo, and it seems to be in short supply - Clean Your Car haven't had any in stock for weeks. I've got enough left for a couple more washes, and I have some diluted in a hand-sprayer, but if CYC don't have any stock in the next couple of weeks I'll try Phat Neut, and see if that works. Thanks Ian. I’ve just had a look and Slims Detailing, Clean and Shiny, all have it in stock and it’s also in stock on Garage Therapy own website, so there are options if you’re not fixed on buying from CYC. There’s a Version 2 of it now as well. Dr Mike Oxgreen

Damp, but still gloriously sunny between the welcome rains and the garden is all the better for the recent rain after the parched arid summer. The previous brown crispy lawn (it sounded like walking on dry cornflakes) has greened up nicely with some rain, but in the drought, the weeds have massively out competed the grass! On the subject of wet leaves, I found a nice cluster of them clogging the drain hole at the end of the scuttle panel and had to enlist a special tool to tease them out - tweezers. As for the rest of the car, well it’s been a while since it saw a wash mitt (nearly 2 months) but had actually remained relatively clean for the most part but latterly slipped into grimy territory, and so it was time to lug out buckets, watering cans (yes hosepipe ban also still in effect in Kent) and other cleansing paraphernalia, plus the Worx Hydroshot and IK e- foamer. Pre sprayed the Warmenaus with Angelwax Bilberry Wheel Cleaner, dwelled, then a coat of Bilt Hamber Touchless applied via IK e-foamer, rinsed off, then a bucket wash with ValetPro Concentrated shampoo (run out of Garage Therapy Wheel Shampoo - must get some more as I do love the stuff), wheel woolies, wheel brush and my beloved Dooka Oksa lambswool wheel mitt 🩶 and then a fresh rinse. Attention then turned to the rest of the car. IK e-foamer refilled with Touchless (had used up was was left in it from previous wash) and back on duty after its short respite. Since the use of Fritz, my Kranzle pressure washer, and a proper snow foam lance is off limits because of themaforementioned water restrictions, the IK is a big help and the auto pressurisation saves a lot of effort! With the car coated with the wonderful Touchless, it was left it to dwell for a few mins whilst I refilled buckets and watering cans, and prepped my shampoo bucket. Then rinsed the car off with the Hydroshot. Bucket wash with my big Dooka Osha wash pad which glided smoothly over the paintwork lifted off the crud. Rinsed and then final rinse with watering cans. Not much standing water left but blotted what little there was with Gyeon Silk Dryer Evo towels, using the smaller one for the wheels. With the car fully dry, the tyres the tyres a couple coats of Gyeon Tire and then cleared all the gear away, and took a few pics of course (I know I’m a sad individual). 😄 No protection applied this time, as the Angelwax Enigma and whatever I last topped it with (🤔) is holding up extremely well and still getting great beading, much to my delight (I said I was sad). Prior to washing, I had to relocate Boris the spider from his/her abode in the crook of the underside of the rear wing. Boris has now made a new home on the verandah, which he did with great haste and is pretty impressive! He may or may not decide to move back to the car - time will tell! The results: Looks great! Nice work. Winter is coming now, so unfortunately we won’t be able to wash our cars as often. Booth11

Though I’ve washed mine less than I might like through summer due to hose pipe bans, so maybe not much difference through winter. omer

Phoenix
Hope it was a good lunch. Always good to start off a trip in a clean car. Dr Mike Oxgreen Posted Thursday at 14:46 Report Share Posted Thursday at 14:46 I've just given my wheels (diamond-cut Estorils) a good clean - I cleaned and treated them with GTechniq C5 about a month ago, so they're relatively easy to clean if you're not subject to a hosepipe ban and can't use a pressure washer, so I gave the fronts a quick spritz with the last of my Bilt Hamber Auto-Wheel cleaner, then a rinse with my Worx Hydroshot, followed by a wash with Garage Therapy Wheel Shampoo, of which I'm quickly running out, another rinse and then dried them with my Ryobi leaf-blower. The rears were washed with Wheel Shampoo, rinsed and blow-dried. Had I been able to use a pressure I would have sprayed them with Bilt Hamber Auto-Wheel cleaner, then snow-foamed, rinsed and dried them, as C5 really makes wheel cleaning much easier. The rest of the car isn't too bad at the moment, so I'll have a go at that during the week. I noticed that, despite the rainfall during the last week, there are still areas of Southern England which have been placed under "drought" restrictions, and reservoir levels continue to fall, so it looks as though we'll have to make the baest of things and be as socially responsible as possible when it comes to car washing. Oh well, it won't last for ever...

Dr Mike Oxgreen
That looks good, Raz. I love the thought of a good detailing session going into a second day! I guess that you're not affected by a hosepipe ban? I've just completed another hose-less wash, using Bilt Hamber Phat Neut as a pre-wash, rinsed off using my Worx Hydroshot followed by another rinse with a watering can, and a wash with Gtechniq Ceramic shampoo. Another watering can rinse, and a towel dry, and it's looking ok, but I'm looking forward to getting the pressure washer and snow foam out again. We're promised some sort of meteorological armageddon towards the end of this week - since I got the car in mid-June, I haven't actually driven it in the wet - I've driven it in damp conditions, but not on properly wet roads, so I might give it a try. Then I'll have to wash it again, obviously.
RazR
Thank you. No, our household has an exemption which we are incredibly thankful of! I've never driven mine in the wet either, I've invested in a tailored car cover from Specialsed Covers, put that on for the first time Sunday, it's there Elite cover so fully waterproof, should keep it nice and clean for longer 😉 Certainly having our fair share of rain so far this week! I had a Specialised cover for my S2000 - I was very impressed, they're well made and fit properly. We had a resident fox cub at the time, and because the S2000's bonnet was very low, he could easily jump up and then climb on to the roof, where he would curl up and sleep. I'm sure that I have a photo somewhere. My one concern with the cover is that you need to make sure that the car is very clean before you put it on - even the best tailored covers will move about in rough weather, and if there's any "contamination" on the paintwork, it will be ground in. I can't see that being an issue if yours is as clean as it is in your photos!
