TerryCTR Posted January 9, 2015 Report Share Posted January 9, 2015 I know, there isn't really much justification to get this car, but as I mentioned earlier with a job promotion I may use the car more frequently and I want awd for the winter months. It's an expensive toy but at the end of the day I've worked hard to get where I am and I'm lucky to be able to afford it. I resisted looking at the cayman gts as I really do have no justification for that to sit on the drive and that makes me think the R is a good compromise. Also I have to say since switching jobs and using public transport any time I do use the ST it's driven hard, no holding back and watching the mpg so at least it's 3k miles of fun! NO contact from my salesman, no replies to emails so I went to see him. He couldn't understand why im pissed off. Wouldn't/couldn't amend order for dynaudio due to pcp! Called and emailed vwuk and still awaiting a build week. Like most others on here I was bullshitted with the " oh about 12 weeks delivery" crap. If he had said 5-6 MONTHS I would have laughed and walked away. Ive got an excellent deal but am getting so frustrated with the wait and lack of contact.. generally sulking. This forum helps as I now know what fuel, niggles etc there are. I was told 16-20 wks right from the start so can understand why you are cheesed off !. wasnt expecting it to be so long but they gave me a cracking trade in deal so am prepared to wait plus changed my order with no problems a wk later. Anyone that knows his (or her) cars will recognize it as an R a mile away. I prefer the Q car vibe the silver gives the car (at least to my eyes). Dealer said on collection that it's fine to use 'race mode' from new but I'm confused as the dsg revs it out to red line. As as a novice could somebody tell me if the occasional plant the foot moment is harmful or am I ok to have a little fun? I am taking it easy 90% of the time but I can't help but flip it into race mode when an empty straight appears. I appreciate opinions differ on this but any help would be appreciated. Pure white, collect my BW50 on Friday. TBH red would of been my first choice but the Mrs had other ideas.
