SuperflyTNT1974
I e-mailed VW Connect support last night, quoting my VIN and recieved a very prompt reply...Dear Customer, Thank you for your e-mail and your interest in our digital products. Volkswagen Connect App is an innovative connected vehicle assistant. It connects you and your Volkswagen so that you are constantly informed about your vehicle data via Bluetooth from your mobile phone. In order to use it, you need to download the application, plug the DataPlug (available at your Volkswagen dealer or from Volkswagen Accessories online) into the diagnostic interface and finally connect it to your mobile phone. For more information on Volkswagen Connect you can visit our website:http://www.vwconnect.com/gb/en/ Your Volkswagen Golf is definitely compatible with our application. The DataPlugs are available at all Volkswagen retailers in Great Britain. Please contact your retailer again and if it is necessary talk to the service manager on site directly. For further information or comments please do not hesitate to contact us. Yours sincerely, i. V. Mario Meyer i. V. Denis Magiera I've forwarded this to the dealer and asked them to post me a dataplug. Let's see what happens. mperry2805
SuperflyTNT1974
A rapid response... Apologies regarding the confusion, on the information we were provided from Volkswagen it advises that there are exceptions that apply and they are…. - Vehicle must not be a Touareg or Phaeton - Not required if vehicle already has car net or App connect It does not state that it is not compatible but simply states it is not required, we are more than happy to send one to you to use, you may find it gives no more information than Car Net but you are welcome to try. If you would like to send me your full name, registration number, address and I will have one sent Happy with that! I'd suggest anyone who wants one and is getting nowhere e-mail vwconnect.helpline@volkswagen.de and then the dealer.
Microbe
Walked into inchcape Southend this morning (didn't get the R from them) and asked for a vw connect data plug, they said it was a parts thing so asked at parts desk and he just went and got me one. Asked if I had downloaded the app and said when I do, don't forget to select inchcape Southend as your service centre. It was that easy! Didn't ask my reg no or anything! Ps I won't be selecting them as my service centre as they are not highly regarded in my house following some awful customer service relating to my wife's car, but that's another story.... mperry2805
