Haha to be honest initially I couldn't sign into vw connect or connect my phone so I gave in for half an hour and went back to it to find I had connected it using the phones Bluetooth and not the data plugs request.

Works fine now. And as you say is actually quite informative. I have noticed some of drives specifically aimed at the challenges I have started haven't logged which is annoying so I guess that will only be a novelty for a few more weeks.

I also like that you can log your fuel stops so i can track how much I spend a month on fuel. Rather than try and keep receipts which inevitably get lost if I even remember to get one in the first place.

Yeah I noticed that option as well , what gets me is it says I filled up only 21 litres , from 33 when I plugged it in the adaptor . But in my receipt I put in 26.67 litres in . So I'm guessing the obd data is an approximate as well for the fuel level

Hopefully it is that and not that the fuel station is fleecing you!!

I haven't filled up yet since installing it. I will do this week though as I have a drive over to Nottingham and back next weekend. So I'll see what mine says and let you know if I remember

JaseW if you like logging fuel/expenses etc, I recommend an iPhone app called Road Trip. There's a 'lite' version, but the full version is cheap. Well worth a look.

Nice one . Should really use something like that to keep an eye on business miles a bit closer rather than making them up

It's excellent for that, as you can label trips accordingly. And you can export the record as a .csv file so your accountant can easily extract what they need. I've used it for 7years. It allows you to keep tyre records even swapping summer to winter boots so you can keep track of the miles on both sets.

I just visited a dealer to ask for one of these and was told it wouldn't work if my car had Apple CarPlay. I suggested this didn't sound right and asked if I could plug it in and try (he had it in his hand). He went away to check and then came back and said it wasn't CarPlay it was Car Net it wouldn't work with. Still wouldn't let me try. I've previously used a cheapo ebay OBD dongle with no issues (which I gave away). Left feeling a bit annoyed as I'd diverted a few miles to pop in. Have I just been fobbed off or is there any truth in what I was told? Anyone with Car Net using it? Cheers.

They've fobbed you off well and truly there! It has nothing to do with Car Net. Mine works fine on a Discovery Pro unit (which has Car Net etc)

Fobbed off.. Simply an odb widget to bluetooth / phone app.

Completely, unrelated to the moon, car play and your paint colour. :-)

I have carnet , android auto, apple car play etc but presume this is irrelevant.

I imagine its the same as the ODB11 device. Plug into ODB port and connect via phone.  Still not got around to playing with it.

Tried to get a data plug from PETERBOROUGH VW (Robinson's) phoned three times, every time they promise to call back but no one returns your calls, waste of time!!

Despite starting this thread, I still haven't got one.

Have called Lookers VW a number of times, each time someone says they'll call back.

Think I've given up caring about it now.
