  1. I have still got my Mk7 and was seriously considering the FL RS3 8Y, however there are now two cars that has been announced that’s put the spanner into the works. The Mk8.5 and the GR Yaris Gen 2. Will have to test drive all 3 and make a hard decision. Either way I will keep my Mk7 for at least until 2025 I can foresee.
  2. I hail from the Ford myself and I have seen the T20 reg one before. Also there is also a Pure White Mk8 one usually parked in the Fryern Arcade.
  3. Anyone know the part number or point me where to get a replacement cap to cover the bolt that holds the wiper arm. Recently had my windscreen changed and it looks like they have forgotten to replace it. Thanks 👍
  4. Recognised @roberth RS3 from last time and remember @ashleyman but not sure what R was his. I loves a good drive every now and then even if it took me over a couple of hours getting there. Deffo up for the next meet. @Luke g I think it was you I was chatting as well, you had your young boy along.
  5. Put me down as a maybe if it is April 23rd you meant. Prolly will have a tagger in a Focus ST MK4.5 if that is ok and also another tagger who ditched his R shortly after owning it. If you can remember the lad who bought one for £11K ish
  6. Yup my passenger side one decided to disappear a few days ago and I bought the replacement mirror glass from The Wing Mirror Company. Cost about £11 and they just just stick on all is fine again. Not paying like £80 from VW
  7. With the R its fun in the rain or shine even with a 4 hour drive there and back to the meet for me. Also noticed my brakes are a bit wobbly when leaning on them hard. Wouldn't have noticed them otherwise. Tag me along to the next one and ill try and come on down again. 👍
  8. It’s a deffo go from me … mines a White Mk7 5DR and my mate he is coming in his LSG Mk7 3DR Also got another mate who is going to ride his bike or shotgun with me if the weather is bad in the morning. cya lot there.
  9. @TheBlondeFella or anyone know if that Cafe now takes cards as payment ? I remember a few years ago they only took cash. We had to go back to town and get some cash out lol. Cheers.
  10. Nice ! Good to hear from you and hope you to see you in the meet this Sunday. I still have my White R ... its been almost 6 years with it now. Nothing really has made me commit to changing it, close to getting a A35 and recently a M2 Comp. The Mk8 Golfs just dont do it for me either, yes I have a long test drive of both the Clubsport and R.
  11. Ah well done, I think I vaguely remember you having a Black R before the Silver one. Least you get less ppl trying to race you in your R Line 😁
  12. What's a peasant Golf ? They are all pretty damn expensive .... well the new MK8 ones are lol .... Im sure all is welcome
  13. Put me down as a maybe and along with my mate who has recently brought an R It’s been a few years since I have been.
  14. I have all 3 on your list but I think the DCC would be my pick as being essential. I would have gotten rid of my R if I didn't have DCC
  15. I have replaced my OEMs brakes all round with Clubsport S Disc and Pads and OEM back disc and pads. Did about 35k miles on the originals. Still could have gotten more out of them. Only done 250 miles on them yesterday and they feel pretty OEM. However I have not stamped on them yet as I want to bed them in gently. Wasn't much of a difference in price really compared to the original ones. I'll report back soon as I have gotten some more miles done with them.
  16. I just had my brakes replaced with CSS Discs and Pads yesterday and OEM back disc and pads. Already notified the insurance and there was no difference in my premium. I'm with LV. Pretty much the same feel as the OEM but I have gone easy on them just to bed them on a bit.
  17. I currently have Discover Pro on my 7R , its a case of fomo , although like yourself, I can't find any concrete differences between the Discover Media and the Pro.
  18. So submitted a query to DTD and awaiting patiently to hear back from them to see if they can do some sums to my liking. Spec as follows Pure White Heads Up Display Discover Nav Pro Harman/Kardon Park Assist Digital Key Rear View Camera Winter Pack (Front Heated Seats only) R Performance Pack Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC)
  19. My driver side mirror flew off when I was doing some high speed driving. Lucky it didn't cause too much damage to the bodywork, only a bit of a scuff on the clear coat. Got a replacement with the back plate with the heating element for about £20. Fixed it myself. Called my VW dealer about it and they wanted like £66 for a bit of glass ! Also it wasn't covered under the extended warranty either they said. I used this website to source. https://www.thewingmirrorcompany.co.uk/searchresult.aspx?make=volkswagen&model=golf&year=2013-to-2021&mtype=wing-mirror-glass,wing-mirror-glass-with-base&fitnote=right-hand-(-uk-driver-side-) Im wondering when the passenger side one will fall off.
  20. I usually buy outright if there is a biggish discount to be had. I brought my 7 brand new with just under £7K off the list price. Mines pretty high spec and it worked out just over £30K all in. Yup I did the PCP thing and paid off 2 days later to keep the discounts and perks. My 7 is 4.5 years old now (66 plate) and after the test drive of the 8. The dealer said they would give me £18.5k part ex. So looking at depreciation that’s about £230 a month which is pretty good going I thinks. No rush to upgrade to the 8 , but if a deal comes along. I would prolly buy outright again.
  21. The seats were cloth. Which are pretty nice to be honest. Id prolly keep it with the clothes , don't fancy speccing leathers for £2.6K nor the Akrapovic for £3.1k.
  22. Yeah but I have the usual 4 year itch for a change ... Lets see what the dealers can come back numbers wise. I was pretty open with them saying I can get a good price from DTD and showed the numbers that he needed to get close to.
  23. So then , the car they gave me for a few hours was pretty loaded with the Performance Pack , DCC and Akrapovic exhaust. 1st thing that striked me was the interior seem to work better with the blue and grey inside. But the centre console is a bit dull and naff. This thing is deffo a set up from the 7 / 7.5 in terms of performance. Its just quicker in any situation. Also it is a bit more playful around on the corners and you can actually get it to step out. Not sure if It should do that but the car has Bridgestone Potenza S001 tyres I thinks. Although it did pop and bang, it didn't seem to feel as loud or regular as the Clubsport that I have driven previously, but still mega fun. The DCC options are vast and I would say the most comfortable setting on the Mk8 is even more plush than the Mk7 in Comfort DCC with 19s, but it might be the tyres etc etc. Had a go in that special mode and it seems that you have to do the gears yourself or in sport mode. The only thing I didn't try is launch control, but im sure that will be brutal. Well will I change from my Mk7, unlikely unless I can be persuaded by a good deal. The dealer actually would give me a decent price for my current R actually more than WBAC, however he said the lead times are at least November.
  24. Yeah will do. I usually get to solo on my test drives from this dealer so it’s all good. The only time I think I was accompanied on the drive was when me and the wife was looking at a Skoda lol 😂
