pwaf13
Hi all, Just started to research Golf Rs and pretty sure it will be my next car, so wanted to pop in here and say hi. Pretty much a BMW guy but fancy a change for the next couple of years before I start my search for an F80 M3, and have never had 4wd so its something to check off the list. Current car is a 2015 125d which I bought after a recent job change and more miles, selling my previous m135 to get it. Previously have had to name a few 650i, a3 2.0T, 200sx, 350z and have an expensive habit to get bored quickly around the 6-12 month mark if I don't gel with the car. Looking for a 2016 onwards car with discover pro, leathers, dynaudio and ideally ACC and sunroof, but the last two are not a must. Going to do a fair bit of research before buying and need to arrange a sale of my 125d so hopefully I'll learn a lot ahead of purchase. Regards, Paul
SpursMadDave
All Rs come with ACC - Adaptive Cruise Control, did you mean DCC - Dynamic Chassis Control?Good luck with the search Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk pwaf13
pwaf13
Ah drat, yes I did, thanks for correcting me Will update my first post. EDIT: Doesn't seem like I can edit, nevermind My m135 had BMWs adaptive and it was a game changer, so looking out for the equivalent on the R. Thanks again Edited June 23, 2019 by veef13

I dont think you can edit posts until you have posted a bit more I wouldn't worry we know what you mean. Not sure the DCC is that much of a game changer, I dont have it and it's fine, most who do have it say that it is good for comfort mode which I'm not bothered about really. Also check out the leather carefully when you are looking at Rs as it's not the best quality and the front seats sag terribly, it put me right off to be honest Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk pwaf13

Booth11
Welcome to the forum Paul! Good luck in your search! There’s lots of threads on here about the relative merits of DCC and the pano roof, all very subjective as everyone has different wants and needs, but worth a read. Re editing posts - there’s a time limit on editing posts which is lifted once you reach 25 posts. NRW
Hi Paul. Good start that you’ve sussed this venue out already. You’ll find masses of helpful info here and questions get reliable responses from Owners who Already Know. Hope you refine your requirements and get what you want in the end. Most owners really love and enjoy there Golf R. ( can’t resist, be aware that Mk7.5 facelift cars from 2017 on have the very Dark Grey seat fabric, and slightly revised Front/ bumpers/ bodysuit and electronic virtual cockpit instruments) The row goes on re DSG / Manual, 3dr / 5dr, 18” Cadiz/ 19” Pretorias, Cloth / Leather,....DCC, DYNaudio , Rear Camera, Panoramic roof all must haves for some too. Can be bewildering to start with! Just shout out, and help will come. All the best of luck with your R search. cheers. 😀 Booth11 and pwaf13 1

If my research is correct, it seems that the 7.5s were announced in November 2016 and generally any 2017 plate should be a 7.5? Or could there be some early 2017s that were 7s? Virtual cockpit surely would be nice, seems relatively rare though and can only find one 2017 plate with it under £25k, I guess it was a relatively costly option as I found 4 other 2017s without it? Thanks again Paul
NRW
Not 100% sure, but I think the 7.5 has the fancy dash as standard. Best for you to decide what package works best for you then go for it. Whatever you choose it should be loads of fun with an R badge on it. Good luck.

Thanks again Paul The 7.5 was available for order from beginning Feb 2017 so the first ones would have been showing up on the road a few weeks after that (from spring 17), so there are preface lift 7s on ‘17 plates. Virtual cockpit is standard in the 7.5 pwaf13

Ideally I wanted to get a used approved car and under £25k, however the other school of thought is closer to £20k and best spec/quality for the money. Early days. Thanks!
