Rattles are really hard to track down as they can sound like they’re coming from one place and the source turns out to be quite different.

Might be worth checking a few other spots. Common sources are the screw cover caps on the lower rear of the centre console, which can rattle (removing them resolves this- need to shunt the front seats fully forward to access them.

Sunvisor mirror can sometimes rattle.

I’ve had the plastic end caps on seat rails rattle.

Seatbelt can rattle either at the height adjustment point or where it goes into b pillar.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I uploaded the photo here:

I checked the areas you mentioned:

- I removed the screw cover caps on the lower rear of the centre console.
- The sunvisor mirror doesn’t seem to be the issue.
- I applied cloth/fleece tape to the plastic end caps on the seat rails.
- There is some noise from the seatbelt height adjustment area, but that one doesn’t bother me too much.

The rattle I’m trying to find still sounds like it’s coming from the fuse box. It’s a thin metallic trim buzz/rattle, especially over small bumps or rough roads.

It’s honestly a very strange and frustrating issue. This rattle has been present since the first day I bought the car.

As for the noise from the seatbelt height adjustment area, I guess that part probably needs to be removed/disassembled to fix it properly. It’s quite disappointing to have these kinds of noises in a new car.

Eğer OBDLeven'iniz varsa, şerit takip sistemini kalıcı olarak kapatabilirsiniz; şu ana kadar yapabileceğiniz birkaç şeyden biri bu.

What can we do with OBD11 on a Golf 8.5? They say we can't do anything because of the SFD2 lock.

Do you have anything electrical installed?

dash cam, tracker/ghost, valentine ?

anything that ,ight result in a wire loose in the fuse box banging on something

No, I don’t have any of the things you mentioned installed. Looks like I’m the only one having this issue. :)

Definitely not the only one. These are not quiet cars.
Mine rattles much more than my previously owned S3.

Are you certain no one installed a GPS locator or a keypad, for insurance purposes or something like that ?

No these aren’t quiet cars, the problem in mine is the creaking around the windows? kind of sounds like they’re loose or twisting? I’ve seen another thread with this problem and people have used silicon spray or adjusted the door strike, haven’t tried it yet, this is my first VW so I’m not sure this is a common problem with there cars? At least I know where the rattle is though, my previous Fiesta ST had a rattle that I could never pin point? I think you’d have to be pretty lucky to buy a car that never gets a single rattle?

What I leaned about rubber seal creaks is that you have two ways to go about it:

a. Use some lube (VW sells a special one for it), but then it usually means you need to clean and reapply every few months as the grease collects dust.

b. If you plan to have the car for long, and are patient, you can just let it wear a bit, and the squeaking will dramatically reduce or vanish, as it gets “mechanically fitted” all by itself. That requires no action, and no maintenance, but some patience and resilience.

As a general rule, in this car I stopped looking for noises if they are not intrusive.
My right door sometimes buzzes with the bass, I press in its upper part, and it goes away for a few rides.p, sometimes weeks. Spoke to the shop they said they can take out the door card and look for the problem, but also said taking out the door cars and replacing it, sometimes causes some noises, so maybe it’s best to leave it as it is.

Not ideal, I know, but choices we have to make. That’s how I see it.

I loathe creaking door and window seals - drive me mad.  Had them on my mk7R and GTI before that and used VW Special Lubricant (Krytox) which ime is the best solution for that issue.  It’s expensive but lasts much longer than the likes of Gummi Pflege which needs reapplying much more frequently.  Krytox is really effective and if you apply with a small detailing brush or fingertips, than wipe off the excess it really doesn’t attract dirt or dust. And a little goes a long way. Fortunately my last two are have not suffered this issue.

Thanks for the tips guys, I might just leave it for now and hope it improves? They say time is a good healer lol, apart from the creaking windows and the way over the top parking sensors, my car has been perfect, had it for nearly a year now and I love it to bits..

Anyone had any issues with Android Auto or Car Play? Since yesterday it struggles to connect, and when it does sometimes it's just a black screen within the app. I've had to hold down the power button on the infotainment system for it to reboot (letting go when the R logo comes up) for it to sync again.

Not sure if there was a recent update or if anyone has faced this before.

First start it will connect fine, but 5 mins later if I come back it'll just be a black screen inside the app. When it's actually connected it's not a problem in terms of data but it's just the gremlins of finding out why it's started misbehaving all of a sudden.

Yes I had this yesterday. Really annoying and everything became buggy - not just the black screen for CarPlay. Also weird connectivity switching between Bluetooth and wired.

The way I solved it was restarting the phone, so I assumed it was a weird phone issue, so it’s interesting that you restarted the head unit.

Yes I’ve had some problems with mine, car play drops out and reconnects at least once every time I drive it, and for some reason it hates underground car parks and boom gates, this is the worst Bluetooth I’ve had in any car I’ve owned?
