  1. I have a Clubsport 45 and had a new steering wheel which solved the same issues. A month in and bing free....
  2. Must have not gone back as far.......I did have a quick read of the thread.
  3. Anyone done this?? I have and am on 1941. No problems in 2 weeks. Upgraded myself using the attached URL: https://www.golfmk8.com/forums/index.php?threads/infotainment-hardware-and-software-updates.391952/page-65
  4. I sold my last 7.5R in 2019. I dabbled in a couple of BMWs before a horrendous 6 months in Mk8 GTI. The car was good but long story short Anthony Motors VW sold me a pup, advertised with VW Adelaide wheels which I subsequently discovered were replicas. Anyway I have owned Rs and Gtis for 20-odd years. The R is a solid car. Fast, grippy and stealthy. However, my Wife’s GTI is by far the most fun to drive due to less weight. I ordered a Mk8 R in 2021…..still no sign. So I looked at 2nd hand from dealer. Then I discovered the Clubsport. I picked up a 2021 CS45 on Friday. I’ve done 300 miles over the weekend and have to say it’s a hoot to drive. The Akrapovic’s pops and bangs are hilarious. In launch (pointless), even in the dry it spins up the wheels. However, during everyday use the diff is very good at removing spin and torque-steer. Go drive both with an open mind.
  5. Thought I'd pop back and see how the orders were going but is still so bad by the looks of it. Rarely see any Rs on the road yet.....a guy round the corner has a blue one which always catches my eye when I see it.....sounds lovely too. 9 months into ownership of the M2 Comp. and I am more happy than I was initially. Discovered the tracking was well out and had it re-aligned, made it a much less tricky car to drive. Rear rubber isn't lasting well....
  6. Picked this up Friday, a very different proposition to the Golf but not had RWD for 10 years so thought would be fun (in the summer). In hindsight VW did me a favour with the delays. Not only did they make me to look elsewhere but the car only cost £800 more than the Golf R I'd ordered, took less deposit and is £66 a month cheaper - residuals are solid. It's not as "Daily driver" as the Golf R, as I discovered when I jumped in my Wife's 7.5 GTi last night. Steering, brakes and gears were just "get in and go" whereas the M2 takes more commitment to drive.....I guess that was part of the draw, a bit more of a challenge. RWD in the wet is fine too as long as you leave traction fully on....as I've discovered during our lovely summer of late. Maybe back again in a couple of years. Enjoy your new cars 👍
  7. cheers, It's a change of direction completely to RWD - M2 Comp - I got rid of my car in May so after ordering the Golf and then it being delayed has got met looking elsewhere. It's a shame as I've tried to buy stock Golf Rs but the dealers just make it too difficult and residuals are low for some reason and the APR is high. Golf R £45k car, £3500 deposit, minimum miles and £599pm M2 Comp - £45k car, £3500 deposit, minimum miles and £533pm Chalk and cheese cars but decision made and I get it next week....I am sure I'll be back.
  8. I've just cancelled my lease car with Stable Lease Contracts.....so if you are looking for a Stage 2 car, with late-November delivery they have an order - you can probably change the spec too. Ask for Ray Hughes. White PP DCC Sunroof HK Digital Key Reverse Cam
  9. I got texted an update this morning....saying moved to stage 2 however I had the very same text 3 weeks ago?? Anyone else getting re-texted with non-updated info?
  10. You don't indeed......I am trying to forget about it
  11. Keep trying....worked for me today. It wasn't showing colour or upholstry until today and accepted my order number.
  12. Is this what you get in the car???
  13. I would guess that not all Golf variants are made in the same factory.
  14. Yep, leasing company I use don't even do that. When I enquired via the supplying VW dealer I got a stern email asking me not to talk to the supplying dealer. When placing the order in May I was told it was Aug/Sept. 3 weeks after order goes in it's "end November."
  15. Just future proofing the purchase, I love a gadget. If/when available for iPhone I won't regret no choosing it.
  16. White PP DCC Winter 2 Pan Roof Rear Cam Digital Key Harmon Kardon (2nd order)
  17. Having heard a non-Akra in the flesh and Akra online I'd not be that bothered unless you like soot-encrusted-tip exhaust porn With regard to lead times I ordered yesterday and "estimated" handover is 30/11/2021. I am under no illusion it could get worse.....but it could also get better.
  18. I agreed my lease deal on 12th May. I was told the car was in the system and could be "spec amended". I was told August/early September. Have just been told it's an "estimated BW42/18th October" and you should see it in November" Luckily I'm in no rush.
  19. 2nd hand car prices are increasing quite a bit at the moment.......any quotes from dealers currently will be inflated but will settle over time (I recently sold my X3 M40i for the balance of the finance after 22 months (£1k deposit) which would never happen in a normal situation/car economy) My lease (including monthly tax and initial deposit) equates to £26k/£541pm over 4 years. Car spec. is £43k. I can mentally afford £495 a month but I could not stick £43k of cash into a car. I would expect invested cash to generate c.£10k over 4 years making the monthly cost go down to c.£326 a month or c.£15.6k over 4 years. Not bad vs circa. 50% depreciation/£20k-odd. Horses for courses and everyones situation is different. If you can afford it, do it and enjoy it. Bang for buck and running cost-wise the Golf R is a cracking proposition.
  20. LOL, I traded my 7.5R for an M40i in June 2019.......handed it back last week. Managed to get back what I owed on the finance which was a result as I only put £1000 deposit into it. First SUV. Very capable car....I thought brakes were good but it wallowed.... Watched all of the relevant 8R videos twice over. August for me....can't wait Same spec as yours in Pure White with Digital Key.....which I read doesn't support iOS yet
  21. The 140i engine is a peach. After 7/7.5 Rs I have been tempted back. I loved my M40i but it was a bit boring, didn’t have ACC/much tech and with the deal I’ve got on the R I’ll be saving £200 a month. I got my Wife a 7.5 Gti in Jan and I love driving that over the BMW. I am a hot hatch man at heart having had Gtis, S3s, Cupra Rs. Can’t wait for the new car to turn up to drive and try the HK.
  22. Got the text today to say my order is with the factory. I ordered via Stable Lease as they had "spec amend" slots with a dealer. Hoping to see not by end of August. Got rid of my X3 M40i last week (loved it but boring) so am car-less until then......
