Interesting. Carwow isn't offering more than £250 off. I forgot about DTD so will look at them. Didn't really plan to get a new car but my hunt for a 7.5R / 8V RS3 isn't going well and I'm desperate for some hot hatch action.

At what point is the rain enough… Ever since I moved south it’s been temporary traffic lights and torrential rain. I’ve contemplated fitting a water butt and a filter and using that but none of our down pipes are where a water butt could live. It’s getting very annoying. I want to wash my car.

Yeah. I’ve had a few R’s. They’re just too good to go without. People drive so slowly these days it’s not even a race. Wasn’t in the R and isn’t in this R Line. Theres no way I could keep up with these boys in the R Line though. Might have to hitch a lift with someone. 😬

Sold it. Then had a Polo for a bit. Then got a Mk 7.5R in lockdown. Sold that in December for profit. Now have a MK8 R Line. I’m sure I’ll get another at some point but for now I have a fake R. 😂😂

Yeah. I got more than that for mine. I've also got the dealer to agree that should values continue to rise I have the option to sell elsewhere / allow them to re-price. If they drop, I have a guaranteed px value locked in. So can't lose.

Excellent mine is also going to be a 1.5 TSI DSG PSB ETC whatever it is called... I average 24 in my current R which I thought was good. Red. :(

I tried. But all the dealers I called had none in their pipelines and stock was about 9-12 months out. I wanted to lock in my equity and take it out so just went with what I could find. I personally think it’s a very smart move considering when the chip shortage resolves and new cars start coming in, the used car values we’re seeing now will fall back to normal levels… I may be wrong. But I’ve got a nice lump back in the bank and a new car on the way.

heck no. Not paying £55k+ for an in stock. And not waiting a year. Got very lucky and found a brand new Golf R Line with a 2 month lead time.

I’ve just cashed in and sold mine myself. I’m £9,000 up. So I’ve sold it and got myself something ‘basic’. I wouldn’t want to be the person buying my current car. But at the end of the day. It’s just a car and when else will we be in this position! My new car (which was an absolute ball ache to find) will arrive November. Quite funny as WBAC would actually give me £2,000 over what I just paid for it. It’s totally insane.

BP by station on Thursday. Just been to BIG Tesco and the queue is all the way round the industrial park with a womble telling people he’s not got enough.

Mine was empty so filled it up the same as I would normally do. I felt a little bad filling up a can. But there was no way I was going back on a bike to queue for an hour for £11 worth of fuel to get to work on Monday!

2 questions... 1. If I plan to fit 13mm spacers front and 16mm rear, what bolts and lockers do I need? 2. Is there a res-delete or something that fits WLTP cars to make it any louder?

Good to be back. Yeh. Love the colour and all the black bits. Yeh. Got all that. Dunno if you saw my other post about the mode settings but in this one you don't get much noise unless you're in full on race mode. Kind of you to offer. May take you up on that! Assuming you still have yours? Is it a track monster yet?

7.5R Agree. Race mode with Sport gearbox is very different than setting everything to race in Individual and selecting S. I don't get any DSG farts or pops/bangs unless I am in Race mode. It's very annoying as I come from a MK7 with everything set to Race and then just flick between D & S when I wanted.

@Starnzy There is definitely a difference in the gearbox selection between Normal & Race mode. In mine, if I have the Drive Mode in NORMAL / ECO but I put the Gearbox into Sport I do not get a DSG fart or any pops/bangs/overrun. However, if I have the Drive Mode in RACE with the gearbox in Sport I DO get DSG fart and pop/bang/overrun. Quite frustrating if you want to run the car in Individual and just toggle the gearbox as you'll miss out on the noises. I've not noticed a difference when the gearbox is in Drive when toggling between driver modes. I wonder if they mapped Race differently to the others.

hmmmmm seems like on the 7.5 you get a LC active message which I haven't had. Done everything as I would have done in the older one and no go. Will try again later on and see what happens. Cheers
