Changing Rear Disc’s and Pads? Quick question
Pchende replied to Pchende's topic in VW Golf R MK7 Chat
Thank you to both for your responses, as mentioned it was purely just a question on whether i had to screw the piston back after putting into service mode or simply compress it. And thank you for sharing the video. I could find a one with decent detail. -

Welcome back, in a very similar situation myself.

Hi all, i have looked at a few videos on youtube and they seem to contradict each other. When changing the rear discs and pads. I have obd11 to electronically release the rear piston, my question is. Do i then have to use a piston wind back tool to screw the piston back into the housing to fit the new pads or do you just compress the piston back like you would on the front calliper? Thanks in advance.

Welcome and very jealous of both the R32 and your new purchase. I always wanted the V6 r32 but couldn’t afford to run one when i was younger

Well it been about 3weeks since i got my car back. Not really had the weather to mess about with it too much yet. Hardly had a chance to give it a decent wash. But did get the dash cam’s fitted. And the boot harness rubbers sorted. Did spend a couple of hours tinkering yesterday, and found a perfect spot for a coffee cup. Fits perfectly in the coolant lid. Think its for cast for rubbish weather now until Christmas so doubt i will do much more.

Finally got the car back on the 23rd after almost a month at the garage. I cant fault the paint repair, it is outstanding but the communication from the dealership wasn’t as good as I would have expected. Couple of small issues, one being the wiring harness rubbers on the boot lid has s broken clip so doesn’t stay in position, said i would sort it myself as they said they would need the car for a couple of days. hopefully weather warms up a bit and i can start paying it some attention.

If you turn the traction control off you also get this message and icons on the dash.

Little bit of an update, what started out as a 3 day repair has turned into three weeks. Was finally supposed to get my car back yesterday. Car was delivered to dealership at 11am with me to collect at 4pm. On my way there a received a phone call to say their detailer was going over the car re-polishing ready to re-apply the ceramic coating and he slipped with the polisher and damaged the spoiler. You couldn’t make this c”*p up if you tried. They said i could still collect but it would need to come back. I told them to fix it and requested that they foot the bill for my last months loan payment as compensation for being messed about. Had a message today car will be ready for Monday (if they don’t drop another clanger) Not the reintroduction to R ownership i was hoping for. And i have yet to see the car myself to see if they have done a decent job

Well its been a week since the garage took my R back to carry out repairs, i have been driving round in an awful Citroën C3 (Courtesy Car) its brand new with only 600miles on it and i can safely say its put me off ever owning a french car, its absolutely awful so much wind noise above 60mph (of which it takes age to get there) Build quality is awful, and its so uncomfortable to drive, gearbox is shocking. latest up date is early next week to get my car back. Can’t come quick enough.

Golf R door card help
-
Hi all, i have bought a 2019 Golf R which has the black fabric interior, but the door cards all have the leather trim on them. The rear passenger side (near side) has some deep scratches so looking to replace it. I have tried looking for second hand door cards online that say they are for the Golf r but on closer look they have the fabric trim, not leather. Can someone please help with the correct part number i need or know of anybody sealing a door card that i require. Thanks

They have said because i have informed them in the first 14days, they will have the repair done if its not yo my satisfaction i can either hand the car back snd walk away and they will return all my funds or they would source me another car of the same spec and miles. They seem to be saying the right things. only time will tell…..,

Been to see the garage, they seemed genuinely apologetic and can’t believe this was missed by the prep team. Its a high end family run business and they have confirmed they will do what it takes to put it right. will hear tomorrow morning when it can be booked in but they think they can get it done in the next two weeks.
-
I hope they can, i have been looking for a R for a while and i cant help but feel a little bit gutted as its took the shine off getting it. i have seen the vehicle report so know it hasn’t been in an accident or written off, even had my obd11 plugged in and scanned the car which brought up no issues. This is the first time i have bought a car from a none main dealer, will see what they say tomorrow, it can either go really well or i will be handing it back and walking away, which leaves me in a rubbish position without a car.

Not all smooth sailing as i thought. Have identified some paint lifting on the corner of the roof which looks like a previous repair. Going back into garage tomorrow for them to inspect, have sent photos ahead. They have said they will make anything right thats wrong with it.
