  1. The rear LED lights on my tailgate have stopped working on the driver side. How in the world do you change them? Sat here scratching my head!! Should be simple no??
  2. Glad to know mine isn't broke, but it does bug me. I wonder why it wasn't OEM fit. Maybe it is seen as being too intrusive and attention averting when driving?
  3. Sorry guys I mean above the glove box... Not on the HUD / clocks. So there isn't supposed to be a blue strip of light above across where the passenger looks at on the dash? Im pretty sure there is... Theres a strip, but its not lit up on my car... And its a 7R not a 7.5.
  4. Am I just being stupid or is my ambient lighting on my dash broken? It wont come on, every other (ambient) light in the car is on but the blue ambient strip on the dash isn't. Is there a setting to switch this off, or has it actually gone on me? Any ideas as to what to do to fix it if so?
  5. Just bought it as it is, well I say as it is, bar the chassis and the engine I have pretty much rebuilt the rest of it!!
  6. Had mine mapped at Unicorn to 370/370 and its massively quick. Come from an E46 M3 and an RS4 avant and it would show the pair of them a clean pair of heels from a standing start. Its a bit silly speed really for a golf, but once I found out about those kinds of power hikes from a £500 map i was sold and im not dissapointed. Its pretty sedate but thats VW for you. Does everything very very well but with little to no drama.
  7. ABS Avocet locks CCTV Floodlights House alarm and a post You will be seen to be too difficult to steal from after that lot....
  8. I think i have commented on your other thread but just make it really hard for people mate and hopefully they will go and find something else to steal It doesnt solve the overall problem but these oxygen thieves are going to steal something just make sure its not your car... I had my RS4 nicked and now my house is like fort knox. Including this; You arent getting it without a crane next time. Quite like putting it up, its going to be virtually impossible to steal next time. And thats just the security you can see....!
  9. Brill mate yeah, just hope i never drive into it!!!
  10. So sorry to hear this OP. Awful isnt it, the only reason I have an R is the fact my RS4 got stolen in March. Same way as you, euro cylinders snapped and walked in. I now have a house alarm, deadlocks on doors, CCTV, ABS Avocet barrels in all doors, a 2 foot retractable post on the end of my drive and floodlights. Unfortunate that this has all been a kneejerk reaction but Ill only get burgled once.
  11. Had this about a year or so now. Its brilliant fun, im not loyal to any particular badge as I notice a lot of you lads own other VW's - I just like good cars it doesnt matter what badge is on the front to be honest, and after my tweaks to this one (which pretty much involves swapping everything bar the engine and chassis!) Its been doing a few trackdays and local autosolos this year. Anyone who is wondering if they should get one then yes is the answer, they dont dissapoint. They dont tend to take prisoners though! And this is only 150bhp but driven properly she flys. Its a 1997 Westfield SE (Narrowbody) Vulcan engineering Pinto bored out to 2.1 and blueprinted Twin Dellorto 40's Kent FR32 fast road cam 55mm alloy Race Radiator 4-1 Ashley Exhaust with longlife stainless silencer English live rear axle with Quaife LSD Protech coilovers 300lbs front springs 1.9x7" 12.5" shock 175lbs rear springs 1.9x9" 14" shock Set up and corner weighted Pretty basic but its all you need in one of these.
  12. You get a pretty big hike at stage 1. I got 60bhp and 70lb/ft. you can deffo feel it!
  13. Had mine done at unicorn last week made 306/296 standard and 367/369 mapped. Cost £500. Best money i have ever spent.
  14. I was doing repeated stops from huge speed, then the discs started to judder like mad eventually. The car was left to cool and when same circuit tried again a few days later the first big stop was met with serious judder. May be deposits but i cant see anything. Will try the jack up and spin technique. Cheers!
  15. Yeah, heavy braking just makes the steering wheel judder. Quite badly if you are stopping from triple figures... Im fairly certain its not just pad deposits and its new discs. Normal braking is fine though, you cant feel it in every day driving, only when you are being really silly. If what you say about the auto hold being your front brakes on this would make sense to to why the wheel judders and it is fronts....
  16. Is there any way of telling which discs are the warped ones also? I heated them then sat still for a minute or so with the auto hold green 'P' on in my DSG car which meand the handbrake on the rear doesnt it? Worried that if i buy front discs and it was the rear ones that are warped ill have to buy rears too. The steering wheel judders though, so surely this indicates fronts - right?
  17. Why am i on here because i think my car doesnt sound the best? What a rediculous comment. All cars have flaws, the sound of the golf R is just one of its, thats all i was stating. If you wanna get upset by the comment then so be it, its your perogative, but i stand by what i said.
  18. Hmmm good shout, but at £120 for the pair they are half the price of vagbremtechnic and Nitrac.... im not complaining, but am a firm believer you get what you pay for, buy cheap buy twice etc... will these take the pain? Any users willing to confirm??
  19. Had my car 2 weeks and stage 1'd it last week. Its absolutely mega now but the brakes are a bit pish and after a particularly (10 minute or so) spirited drive the other day i got stuck at a set of temporary traffic lights and with the car being DSG it held the brakes on for about a minute at least and i think its warped the discs as hard stops now cause the discs to judder. I cant afford a BBK but hear that vagbremtechnic J hook and Nitrac discs are good. But which would you prefer for fast road use? I already have a set of yellowstuff pads to go on. Thanks. Ash
  20. Dont get so touchy mate. No need. I was only stating my opinion. I love my golf, just doesnt sound the best. Its still a great car.
  21. Sound couldnt be much worse could It really! sorry lads but coming from a straight six and a V8 these sound a bit rubbish!!
