  1. 90% of the time I drive mine sensibly up and down motorways (shame) and then it is rather dull, it is a Golf after all. However, and this is the reason I love the car, I know when I want to I can go very wild indeed and then I love it to bits. It just makes sense.
  2. Plus a larger clearer screen, which is why I selected DNS Pro as an option (albeit an expensive one).
  3. Lots of things will prevent start-stop from kicking in, but I don't believe they would give 'stop-start error' message, instead an 'unavailable' message. Agree with MC71, needs checking. Had something similar on my 7R, fault traced to faulty pressure sensor.
  4. Looks great - really like the 3 door in red and works very well with the Cadiz wheels
  5. Ah OK, I had a 2015 7R so there may have been an update to later models. I have to say that my 7R start-stop was much less sensitive and it was easier to come to a halt with light braking without the start-stop cutting in, meaning you could easily engage it when you wanted to rather than on the 7.5 which seems to always cut in.
  6. Stupid question, embarrassed and ashamed to even ask ... Trying to set up Car-Net on thw VW website and it needs the VIN number in order to continue - where on earth is the VIN number on the 7.5 Golf?!? It always used to be on a plate at the bottom of the windscreen on the dash, and that's where it tells me to look on the registration page too....it ain't there though, nor is there a plate under the floor mat on the drivers side....
  7. Regarding start-stop, has anyone noticed that the system seems a little more intelligent on the 7.5 than it was on the 7 (still annoying though)? If you pull up to a queue of traffic start-stop activates, engine stops and auto-hold engaged. as soon as the car in front starts to move forward, engine restarts without the need to press the accelerator or any other control. Never used to do this and improves the functionality somewhat. Only noticed it yesterday on drive home...
  8. Nice to see this in Autocar online today https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/industry/50-best-new-cars-2017-top-5
  9. Hi - I think most people are waiting around 4 months on average from order to delivery that would place yours delivered in October. Of course sometimes this is quicker or slower just depends on spec dealer and production. Dont pay too much heed to the tracker - I ordered March and the tracker didn't change from with the factory until June when it went to build week confirmed and then straight to in transit. With regards PCP you will need to talk to dealer about this but I believe you can agree a day of the month when payments are taken so this should give you a little flexibility as to when the first payment is taken.
  10. Great review - thank you. I had a Mk 7 GTI when they were first launched, before moving to an R. I will probably get shot down for this, but I always felt there was a little more personality in the GTi, it seemed more eager to please somehow, like a dog wanting a treat! For me the R feels a little more grown up in its attitude and thus just lacks a little character. All that said I loved my R and I will love my next R when it arrives next week. There will just be a teeny weeny little piece of me that to get back into a GTi. Enjoy, have fun, and love the car, its a great one
  11. Really like the colour but would not be brave enough to have it - one thing I like about the R is that its relatively understated and not too in your face....or maybe I am just getting old...
  12. Seems mine has arrived in the U.K. so off to the dealer next week to sign paperwork, hopefully only another couple of weeks! ordered end March so been a wee wait
  13. Looks fantastic, and really really like the colour, enjoy the drive home!
