  1. Totally understand... In that case, you might try spraying a little silicone spray on a rag and wipe the inside of the "C" connector and the visor "bar" to make it a little more slippery and see if that makes it easier to unhook.
  2. Mine is also tight, but I finally figured out a way to do it with just two fingers. Granted I have a left-hand drive, so I can use my right hand to do this, but this should be applicable to right-hand drives also. A picture works better than words but with the vision in its up/stowed position, use your thumb to slightly pull down on the bottom of the female "C" clip, while simultaneously using the side of your index finger to push the visor out of the clip and swing it towards you.
  3. DCC = Dynamic Chassis Control. In the Individual (Custom) setting you can choose DCC (touch and it will drop down) to be Eco, Comfort, , Normal and Race. Those are settings from softest to firmest. Those settings are only adjustable in the Individual (Custom) mode. In the main mode selection, they aren't adjustable.
  4. I agree with Shug. This cost $, but you're buying peace-of-mind IMHO. There are other like options... https://www.extraspace.com/self-storage/vehicle-storage/car-storage/
  5. I assume you're kidding. Yes the "stick" part on my US spec 2019 R is black.
  6. ... the black dipstick!! To me, it makes it very difficult to see the oil level, unless I'm in the sunlight and turn the dipstick so the sun reflects off the oil. It also makes it hard, if not impossible, to asses the color/condition of the oil. What was wrong with a plain silver dipstick like all the cars I've owned since the early 70's? I realize black accents are more "racy", but the dipstick?? Has anyone found a good aftermarket dipstick that's not black?
  7. Thanks guys for all the replies! It seems the consensus is to drive it calm for the last part of the trip or let it idle for a short time if pulling straight off the highway or after a particularly hard run (track day). As far as a circulating pump running after shut-off, I found this on another website forum (I've heard the strange alien sounds after I turn off the car): "The car has an electric after run (or secondary) water pump that has multiple uses. Between keeping the radiator fan on for up to 10 minutes and using the electric water pump, the car can cool off the engine to prevent things from getting too hot after shut off. It also uses the electric water pump to help circulate coolant at idle when the normal water pump isn't moving enough fluid to keep the heater core warm (typically for the older engines, not sure if the new style water pump of the EA888 needs help). It will also run the electric water pump after engine shut off to keep circulating coolant through the heater core so that you still have warm air blowing at you for awhile."
  8. Hi All! Sorry for the noob question... I have a stock 2019 Mk 7.5 Golf R and of course I love it!! This is my turbo car since my '88 Isuzu Impulse. "Back in the day", the common advice after a hard run (even just getting off the highway to stop for gas) was to let the car idle for 30 seconds to a minute to let the turbo spin down to idle speed. Apparently, just shutting the car down immediately shut off the oil circulation to the turbo and it would spin essentially dry and cook the oil that was left on the surface. This would cause premature turbo bearing wear and ultimately take out the turbo. Is the same advice still valid? Or have the engineer's gotten around this problem? What do you guys and gals do?
  9. I engage Auto Hold after I first start the engine. Auto start/stop off, Auto Hold on, Parking Brake off (unless after a wash, which then it's already off). The car is smart enough not to engage it when coming out of Park into Reverse. So getting out of the garage isn't a problem, but will engage when stopping to make sure the garage door comes down. Then just a light tap on the go pedal releases it. It's then is a big help at traffic lights and esp. going through a drive-through.
  10. Comforting to know that someone else had this experience. The amount of revs really did worry me! Once I got it going, it still had some slight grabbing as the wheels turned. A few accelerations to about 30 and firm applications of the brakes seemed to "clean" them off and no further issues. It was almost like part of the brake lining melted and stuck to the disc! I like and will use your idea to dry them off after washing. I'll probably also refrain from using the parking brake in the garage afterward, just to be sure.
  11. Yes, a public one, as our home owners association doesn't allow car washing in the street or driveways. The car wash I go to is a no-touch one though and I've applied several coats of Torque Detail's Mirror Shine which helps protect the paint. Gotta do what I gotta do to keep my baby clean!!
  12. New 2019 Golf R with DSG. Love it! Question: Does anyone know if the auto-hold and parking brake actually work on the brakes or is it a transmission lock? I noticed when I put it in drive with auto-hold and got out of the car, the rear brake lamps were not on. This lead me to the question... I think the Parking brake DOES actuate the brakes, as after a car wash, I drove straight home and set the parking brake. The next morning I released the brake and the car was stuck! Like the pads were somehow frozen to the calipers. It took almost 2-3k rpm to get them unstuck enough for me to move. Now no more PB use after a wash! Anyone else had this happen? Thanks! David
  13. My 2019 US spec Mk 7.5 Golf R, stock with 3k+ miles it, has been normally running between 220F - 225F in everyday summer use. I did a spirited 50 mi. dash today on some Farm-to-Market roads (2 lane, lots of twisties, 90 degree, full power out bends and a couple of 100+mph bursts), here in North Texas with the outside air temps around 102F. Peak temp I saw 230F.
  14. I realize that this is a real newbie question, but I see many posters listing the build dates of their vehicles. Where is is info. obtained/located? Thanks!
  15. I realize now that I should have posted this in "Modifying your Golf R MK7", but couldn't find a way to move it. I also realized I should have called it a "Snow Guard" but made the noob mistake of calling it a "Snow Baffle", but it was to late to do an edit...
