  1. Managed to do this tonight, had enough access with the passenger side of the scuttle removed, undid the 10mm bolt and put a rubber washer on top and the rattle has stopped completely. Result. I might fool around with the volume now with obd11 to see what the best volume is but i didn't one to get rid of it completely. Sent from my SM-A520F using Tapatalk
  2. Guys I have the annoying soundaktor rattle and was hoping to try secure it, does anyone have the pics from the original post? Is the OP still active?
  3. Don't know why tapatalk is blurring my pics[emoji2959] anyway here's the clean filter Sent from my SM-A520F using Tapatalk
  4. Had my haldex service done Monday as I had no record of it being done previously, even though my car was serviced 5 times by VW at roughly every 10k miles. 62k miles on the car now so judging by how clean the gauze was I'd say it was cleaned before. Oil was filthy though and full of bits of contaminants so it was well worth changing. Feels like the car is gripping better since too. Sent from my SM-A520F using Tapatalk
  5. Yep, I must try get down to the KK meet. Love the new additions Sent from my SM-A520F using Tapatalk
  6. Recently fitted a pair of Eagle F1 AS5 to the front of my R and i'm well impressed. I have Conti SC 6's on the rear with around 4mm left so will go with the AS5 all round when the time comes,
  7. Welcome, very nice car. Mine is similar but it's a mark 7, limestone grey on 19" Pretoria's. Only have it since before Christmas and I absolutely love it. Personally think grey is the nicest colour on them. Sent from my SM-A520F using Tapatalk
  8. True, it was imported from West Sussex and had one mature owner from new before me. Full VW history, 5 stamps from one dealership and I have one year warranty. I bought the car on its condition which is immaculate, mileage is only one indicator on how a car has been treated. I have it booked in with a VW specialist here in February to give it a full health check. Sent from my SM-A520F using Tapatalk
  9. This is great to see. I've just bought a 2015 before Christmas with 62k on it now, I plan on keeping it for a long time. I'm in Ireland so they are a lot more expensive to buy here. €50k+ for a 2019 post wltp model. I think these will so 200k+ easily once serviced and maintained correctly. 11. @smitty you should join the Autostadt.ie forum, it's a forum for all German marques but it's mostly VAG owners on there. They recently designed some of their own merch and the disc holders they designed are very nice. Did you buy your R in Michael Moore's? I had the car they had in my saved ads on donedeal (even though it was way out of my price league!) and it appears to be sold now. Looked like a very nice example.
  12. The average on honest john is for the mk7 R is 31mpg. Everyone is different, depends on the type of commute you have etc. seems manual cars are more economical too. My commute is 20km and is a mixture of back roads, R roads and motorway for the last 5 km or so. It's normally busy enough so never really do more than 80km or 120 on the motorway. Every second weekend I do a 250km round trip and that probably bumps up my average too. If it was all short journeys I was doing I'm sure it would fall to mid 20s. Anyway enough mpg talk, I only mentioned it as I was expecting it to be much heavier is all. Sent from my SM-A520F using Tapatalk
  13. Go way you b0llocks! That's what i get for mentioning Mpg on a R forum! 32 by the way is what i get, not 40😄
  14. Class car Donal. Best modded R in Ireland. I must try meet you some time and get a spin in this beast!

I'm on a long-term average of 32 which is around what I expected. My GTD was doing around 43 in cold weather and improved to 45-47 in milder conditions. The difference in fuel consumption is worth it all day long. Sent from my SM-A520F using Tapatalk
