  1. My son has a Golf R 7.5 2018 and has been advised that if you don't use genuine front brake pads you can get a very annoying rattle from the calipers, which he has! The replacement cost was £355.00. Best replace with the VW brake pads is our advice.
  2. My Golf R 7.5 has just under 20k on the clock and it's a 2019 - it's fully loaded and I love it. BUT it's developed a noise from the front suspension that sounds like when you jump up and down on an old bed with old or broken springs. You can also hear it inside the car when you turn the steering wheel. There's nothing visible from underneath but it's needs fixing - anyone had anything similar? PS - could it be the result of a pothole whack as I've had a cracked nearside wheel replaced?
  3. Here here!!! I like to lease mine for 3 yrs and then buy it. It's a nice feeling to own a car with no monthly fixed costs - especially if you buy something unique to you and where the new model is not so attractive to you ie a new Mk 7.5 facelift fully loaded to a MK 8 with a big bum 🙂
  4. Lovely pic - elegant, perfect lines - purposeful, unpretentious, subtle yet big presence (Personally prefer 19 inch Spielberg's but hey, each to their own 🙂
  5. Me too 🙂 Mk 8 doesn't look as good, is no quicker, costs more and gives you things you don't need. Enjoy NRW.
  6. I collected my Golf R, 7.5 DSG (it's the future), 3-door Indium Grey (gives it a premium look) from new in Aug 2019. I waited over 6 mths for it and it's a truly amazing car. I was told it was the last 3-door you could buy. I've been lucky to own some great cars incl Porsche 911s x 2, TVR Chimaera's x 2, BMWs x 3, Audi s5 and a Golf R32 but this Golf R has astonishing capabilities compared with these cars. It came with every extra and although £45k (less thru carwow) is a lot for a Golf, it's SO much car for the money. Three door hatchbacks look and feel more sporty than 5-door - the door pillar being further back makes a big difference! The Akrapovic exhaust is thrilling and well worth the extra cash. I love the dual personality - Comfort mode is more comfortable than your standard Golf and Race mode means you can keep up with any £100k sports car. Brilliant, and i'm in love with the digital dash, the sunroof and even the sound the door makes when shutting 🙂 As for a Scirocco, sorry unless you're a hairdresser don't go there!

    golf r lovin it

Hey Vaggie - where did you get the extra long paddle shifts? Car looks great in black.
  8. Hi Everyone I love my 2019 Golf R but have a few niggling rattles! First one is coming from sunroof - it stops when I open it 1/4 of the way back. Second appears to be coming from the center dash area when in Race mode on acceleration mid-revs range. Anyone had same or similar issues - would be good to hear if and how you resolved these/ Thanks 🙂

    golf r lovin it

Hi - all I can say is I'm 67 and I've had some amazing cars incl Porsche 911s, TVRs, BMW M35i, Audi S5 and 2 Golf GTI Engineering models plus a Golf R (4WD) which was just brilliant. but this 2019 Golf R 7.5 is extraordinary in so many ways and all round the best car I've owned. I went for pretty much all the extras a 3 dr could have incl keyless. Turns out the dealer was using an out-of-date spec and VW don't supply 3dr versions with keyless - god knows why not AND now you can't buy a 3dr R in the UK, so I guess I was lucky to have got the perfect car (less keyless 😞 Your extras sound great - get what you can afford and what sits right with your personal taste. Only thing is, I was advised not to go for the extra large screen as it's too sensitive to hand movements, and the normal screen is fine believe me. What colour is your car - I went for the Indium grey - I swear it adds £10k to the quality look of the car. Enjoy 🙂
