To replace the seal Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I’ve just removed one of the rear callipers on my mk7 golf r and when I took the piston out there’s a cylinder in the middle with a load of ball bearings everywhere. Is it possible to rebuild this or do I now need a new calliper? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

So I have a Racingline stage 1 OEM+ tune with induction/elbow etc and looking to go to stage 2 plus IC. General consensus here is Wagner IC is best, but this uses a tube and fin design. Just wondering what people’s experience of the Racingline item is like. I see VRS are now recommending them as well as Wagner. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Well the Continental Contact Sport 6’s just arrived from camskill, so maybe I’ll add either the Superpro or 034 Rear ARB and take it from there Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I still want reduced understeer and body roll and a more compliant ride, I just don’t want a full track setup. Surely it’s possible to make a decent improvement to the chassis without spending a fortune? Maybe I’m wrong.. (it does happen occasionally:) ) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Now that I’ve completed the the Racingline OEM+ Stage 1 engine upgrade I want to turn my attention to the suspension. I was lucky enough to test drive the Racingline demo car on my local roads and I was totally shocked at just how compliant it was. No knocking or crashing, very supple over the bumps yet still managed to be 40mm lower, much better turn in and massively reduced body roll. Now if I had the funds I’d just buy that kit but I don’t so I’m thinking this instead: Bilstein B14 coilovers Superpro -1 deg neg camber top mounts Superpro 22mm ARB The car is a daily with maybe 1 track day per year. Will this get me in the ball park of the track sport kit, or should I just leave it as it is? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Has anyone tried these? Thinking about these as an alternative to Pilot Sport 4s’ Thoughts? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

So I decided to go stage 1 OEM+ and DSG tune, with R600 intake, pipe and elbow. Wow what a huge difference. This is how it should have come from the factory. Had an interesting go against a 991 GT3 today. He put his foot down, assuming he’d just pull away then realised too late and I managed to stay right with him from 2nd to 5th before we had to slow down. I’m hoping he was feeling a little gutted. Even if he wasn’t I was feeling very smug indeed. Not sure at this moment that it needs more for a daily driver, but any bets for how long it takes for me to order the BCS downpipe and an intercooler? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Yes I agree and I was a bit gutted I didn’t get to drive it. It drove perfectly well when just pootling but it didn’t really get going until after 3500. Still pretty good really. I don’t think that would bother me too much. I’m ether driving normally, or driving fairly hard. Just need to make sure you’re in the right gear. But like you said it’s hard to know if you’d miss the drivability without testing it properly Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Well that was certainly interesting! The demo car is running a full 500bhp, and has all the toys. 6 pot carbon ceramic brakes, track coil over kit, RL wheels, and TCU upgrade. Sadly I didn’t get to drive it but it gave me a good enough idea. It’s a very quick car as you’d expect, but it’s not savage at all. Not like the F430 or R500. So the sense of speed is somewhat muted, but this is more down to the car feeling so composed. Whilst leathering through all the gears we were able to hold a perfectly normal conversation which was surprising. My plan to keep noise to a minimum will be fine with a catted down pipe and retaining the original exhaust and resonator. The suspension was dropped 40mm and with the different offset wheels pushing them out 5mm it looked amazing. However whilst it was fine on the smooth roads of Milton Keynes I suspect I wouldn’t enjoy it much on the back roads of Herts with all its pot holes. I think I may just leave it standard. After all it’s fairly flat and neutral handling anyway. Difficult to know what the TCU map is like but according to Matt it addresses the issues I have with the standard map. So I think I’ll go stage 1 and TCU map with the R600 induction and the turbo elbow for now. There’s no cost to upgrade the OEM+ software to stage 2/3. If I think it needs more than the 360-370 it should make then I’ll just go all out and get a BCS downpipe, airtec intercooler and the RL hybrid turbo. I’ll keep the rest stock. But at this stage it’s a case of diminishing returns so I guess we’ll see. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I’m sure this isn’t a good idea, but I’m off to Racingline HQ tomorrow morning to test drive a 480bhp stage 3 demo car. Is that a good idea just before I book in for a stage 1 remap? Probably not. I have a feeling I’ll have some explaining to do when I relent and go the whole hog... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I’m defo beginning to warm to RL. They have maps for life so no need to cough up when you upgrade. Do you know how much the stage 1 map costs these days? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I didn’t realise others were offering just a single dynamic TCU map to cover all torque outputs? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

So whilst I’ve been doing all my due diligence on which upgrade path I’m going to take, I stumbled across the Racingline OEM+ ECU and TCU Upgrades. The TCU option sounds very intriguing as it dynamically adjusts to the torque output of the engine, thus only ever requiring the one map. I’m surprised that this isn’t being talked about more on the forum? Does anyone have the TCU map, and what are your thoughts around the features and it’s drivability? I used to like Auto Finesse Avalanche however I bought the GTechniq maintenance kit and I have to say their snow foam is amazing! As are most of their products. It makes a great foam and it really clings to the paint work. Defo worth a go. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Which Window rubber cleaning / preservation products?

As above for a quick clean, however nothing I’ve found works as well as Swissvax Seal Feed. It’s defo worth the expense and will last forever! Amazeballs. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk -

2019 7R Mild Stage 3 with L380x turbo
Kal-El replied to Rick@UnicornMotorDev's topic in Modifying your Golf R MK7
Hi Rick, What’s the max boost you can run on the L380x and standard turbos? With a larger turbo such as the L450 (assuming IC and other induction/exhaust upgrades) can you safely run higher boost pressures? What are the influencing parameters when determining max boost pressures on these engines? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Who makes Racingline’s turbos or are they done in house? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

That’s insane!! Nice dollop of torque from 4,000 - 6000. What’s it like to drive? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Would love to know how much boost MRC run their tunes... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Has anyone else got a flat torque curve like that at stage 3, but on a mk7? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
