I’m about to pay £290 for a minor service on Tuesday which is just oil and filter really with a bit of screen wash if needed 😂

Took advantage of some decent weather this morning 👍 wasn’t loving my mk 8 as much as my mk 7 estate, wouldn’t want to change it now though 👍

I drove over 250 miles for my car with part exchange, agreed all the deal over the phone with lots of pictures. Also it was made clear I could turn the car down if I didn’t like it after a test drive. The price I got was decent also gave the dealer imo more wiggle room with price of car I bought. I got to have a nice drive home in my new car which I liked 👍 I wouldn’t let 100 miles put you off if you get a good trade in price and your happy with the deal.

Looking forward to seeing how your roof turns out as I really want it done on mine 👍 I have the dynamic wheel centres I love them especially when I park up and all match nice a level 😂

Mine only goes to race if I press the R button is this not correct or am misunderstanding? If I want to go to say drift or Nur or back to eco I have to do it through info screen. Mine is a mk 8 if it’s different to software?

I had Eibach lowering springs on my estate with Racinigline 360 alloys in 19 inch, no spacers, no rubbing issues sat perfect and the ride was oem in my opinion, I did have new standard dampers, bumpers and top mounts fitted at the same time all from VW .

I would love to get my roof wrapped black but worries about them having to move the aerial to apply it 😢

I must be in the minority 🤦‍♂️ as I love shiny clean sliver alloys and the silver wing mirror caps look on an R, I really don’t like the black alloys and mirror caps on mine but it is how it came from factory and don’t want to change it 🤦‍♂️

Mine came with a standard exhaust and I’ve put an Akra on, it definitely has pops and bangs can’t say it’s mega have to hit the sweet spot.

Looks amazing as always, can I ask do you live in the Sahara ? So much rain at the moment and still to have a hosepipe ban ?

Thanx Booth, yeah I remember this being spoken about but can’t seem to find it 🤦‍♂️ I have no fault lights up which I thought would come on if flaps not working on one side, just seem strange as even when at stand still if I rev left hand side seems to push more out and sounds louder, must be normal though I hope.

Probably a silly question lol, On cold start up it seems that the left hand side of my exhaust works more than the right is this normal at idle ? When I put my hand close can feel it more coming out left side.

I had the choice just like yourself about 9 months ago moving from a mk 7 r estate in the end I went for the R 20. The info screen was annoying as hell when I first had it but got used to it now, it’s been trouble free except for front suspension was making a noise which was covered under warranty. When looking I thought the 8.5 is without doubt better looking front end and the B.E does look stunning but then weighed that up against the R 20 which has same engine and running gear and only available in a limited number so will hold value a little better imo. So went the R20 route and kept the extra dosh I saved in my pocket. Being honest most people do not see the difference in the 8 and 8.5 they just see a golf R, I have even had someone come up to me saying they had ordered a B.E thinking mine was and had to explain mine wasn’t and the differences. All cars have issues so really the choice you have if you want the latest up to date golf R go the 8.5 B.E route I’m sure you would not regret it, or go the R 20 route same car underneath just last seasons clothes on lol with some options chucked in as standard, limited number of them and save some money.

220 for an oil change in August for me from a main dealer, might help you get yours price matched ?

It would drive me nuts having a different colour R badge not matching the rest on the car 🤦‍♂️

enjoyed that film 👍 but I would have thought the Nurburgring mode would have given a faster 0-60 time than drift mode or maybe I’m understanding the modes wrong ?

Ok gents put them on really like them, all 4 spin perfect but one if I spin it myself makes a slight noise not clicking more a catching noise like it’s not dead flat, took it for a drive and can’t hear anything, are all your perfectly quiet ? thanx

I thought about a ghost but for me they are still going to try getting in my house most likely to get key and then find out they can’t start it. so I have gone bollards on drive. disklok on car. security lights all around house. Security cameras all around. good house alarm with vibration sensors on all points. snap locks on all doors. also when I go to bed all blinds are shut as a tip police officer once gave me is that they always want to try and look in first so they can see what’s going on. also have some lamps on timers that come on and off at different times. when at home imo if they want it they are gonna come in and your not going to stop them, it’s all about making your house not an easy target and hope they move on.

Did you have to move water pipe from reservoir when installing this mate ?
