  1. Interesting, good to know it’s normal. Strange that one side is slightly different size. Must be random in the manufacturing process the size , or specifically cut to balance. If it’s for heat then assume it would be easier to make them all the same size
  2. how’s the tune ? Is it for the Australia model without the particulate filter ? How’s it going and how much was it?
  3. Hey Scudgie, Interesting, are yours on both the front wheels? Is the length of the flat edge different on each wheel, mine is slightly longer on the drivers side. I spoke to my dealer, and they said that it is normal part of the design. They shared me a diagram from the parts catalogue that has a similar edge on it. Interested if everyone else has it too.
  4. Hey everyone, I just had my 15,0000 Kms first service done and the car is going really good. However, today when I was washing my car I noticed that the front brake discs seem to have some flat edges on them where they are not completely round with the rest of the disc. Seems to be only on the front from what I can tell, and the driver side one is bit bigger. I haven't felt any issues at all with the brakes or heard anything wearing / rubbing. So I am just wanting to check if this is normal and get some advice before I speak to the dealer. Attached some photos.
  5. Yeah its OK, I am perfectly happy with it but I don't blast my stereo anymore like I did in my twenties hahahah plus I much rather hear the exhaust and engine.
  6. Yeah that makes sense, here it comes with 5 year unlimited KM warranty. I will probably sell the car around 4 year mark and upgrade to final run Golf R ever made
  7. Yeah that is why I asked them too about no run in service. They said no run in period or service is required , said it is run in from factory and I asked them put that in writing and the service manager and fleet manager confirmed in writing that it’s not required. Just said keep to service schedule and first service is 15000km. I didn’t drive hard anyway and followed the guidance as closely as possible just not OCD, but clearly they are confident as why bother put themselves at risk writing that if they encounter issues due to run in , and this was a big dealership and service department. VW would program the car to be restricted if it was causing issues for thousands or cars .
  8. yeah I didn't drive hard anyway, followed the guidance mostly but no where near doing only 2000 RPM only lol. Still haven't even done a launch control hahah. That's just what the service manager said, and they put it in writing that the golf r doesn't require the run in period, they never have any issues or refuse warranty due to run in as long as serviced to schedule
  9. My dealer spoke to the service manager and they put it in writing (email) that the Golf R doesn't need running in and it's run in from the factory. Because I asked about the manual saying it does have a run in period and they said that is for the normal golf and they share the manual, the performance engine is run in from factory. I still took it easy though, but not particularly OCD about it
  10. that can't be legit it blocks vision for short drivers hahahaha Maybe some testing diagnostic equipment or something surely
  11. At what stage is the vulnerability patched? Is it the software update to the car that you see in the infotainment? Is that also the ECU that controls the engine tune or are they different units? If they are separate how do they get patched? The dealer performs ECU patch during service?
  12. This is really exciting. I will wait 1 more year for all tuners to release and then some time to evaluate
  13. Yeah it's getting hotter hear in Australia and I have hit 100 for Gearbox. I don't worry anymore as the car has a warning if it gets too hot and I have never had a warning
  14. I would like to see what the blue mirror caps look like on lapis blue. I wrapped mine in gloss black but thinking the blue might look good
