Yes, 7 Speed DSG.

Is there any learning needed, I seem to be getting hesitation when going to WOT?  It happens even when it's a moderately fast move to WOT.

Typically it will do that if the Fuel open loop is set to high. Check if its at 45. If its a older Jb4 the default was higher.

Hey all,,

Was reading through multiple posts on here to get a clearer understanding of the JB4 as I plan on putting one on my 2020 R.

I do have one question... And correct me if i'm wrong but the only non clear-able fault code occurs if the car isn't in "Sleep" mode prior to install ( removing battery). All other codes can be cleared should the need occur to take car into the stealership for whatever reason.

See lots of fuel pressure and other codes people are getting so I guess just looking to see if these codes can be cleared.

All codes can be cleared with the JB4. When removing the battery there are some alerts on the dash which the ECU does a safety check once the car is moving and resets the respective modules. This will happen always when the battery is removed.

Ok cool thanks George. Appreciate the response as I plan on removing battery when installing and removing just to make sure car is definitely in sleep mode.

Cheers

I just lock the car with the hood open and do the install. Just wait 5 minutes or so and move the keyh far from the car if you got keyless entry.

After 2 cars, 5-years and 45,000 miles with JB1/4, I thought it might be useful to drop my experience in this thread. I ran my unit as a JB1 in my MK7 Golf R for 3-years and 26,000 miles. I then upgraded to the JB4 module when that became available and ran it briefly in the MK7 but ultimately for 19,000 miles in my MK7.5R.

Both cars were lease cars so the JB4 was the perfect solution for me. I never had any detection issues and both cars have been returned without a quibble. The performance upgrade is significant with a recorded 12.316 1/4 mile time at 114.2mph on the original JB1 (MK7R Estate). With draggy, it would record 0-100mph times of between about 8.5 and 9.5s consistently putting the Golf firmly into the performance bracket above. Both my cars remained very smooth and driveable and 99% of their work was ferrying the wife and two kids around so abnormal behaviour wouldn't have been tolerated. I never found the JB1 overly jerky or undrivable but the JB4 is noticeably smoother.

For the week my car was back to stock before it got picked up it was noticeably slower and less aggressive. The JB4 also has enough torque to really mobilise the back end (especially on the 7.5) in the wet. All in all, both the JB1 and JB4 were excellent products and relatively easy to install myself. I've never tried a full remap but I'm sure it would liberate a few extra horsepower at the expense of warranty. For anyone with a warranty or lease, the JB4 is great. My unit is currently for sale in the For Sale section if anyone is interested.

Thank you for the feedback. Out of interest where the cars manual or DSG? Maps run?

Both DSG (Estates) and both were run on Map 6 which you helped me configure each time. Once I had it at a nice point I simply left it alone for the rest of the ownership of the car(s). Aside from the extra performance, you'd never know it was there. Hot weather, cold weather, rain, driving alone, fully loaded up, it made no difference the car was just a normal Golf R with more power.

I’ve got the JB4 with Bluetooth installed in my car. I’ve taken a deposit on the car, collection next weekend. What do I need to do in the app to allow the new owner to connect / use the JB4 with their phone?

Thanks

From what I remember is that the jbt unit it self is transferrable as it's not lock to your car or vin etc. The jb4 Bluetooth adapter is locked to the unit so might have to be unlocked if you wanted to sell it separately or it's locked to the vehicle not sure which way round it is.

The bluetooth module is connected to the app on your phone. Connect to it and go to settings then JB4 Tuning then Connection Settings then click Clear Saved Bluetooth devices.

Hi,

I’m selling my 7.5 and need to remove the Jb4.😔

-what do I do to unlink it please?

btw- the Jb4 is a fantastic product and George has been outstanding in his support.

I’ve had 2 mk7 Gti’s = Man and DSG and then a R 7 DSG.
Now I’m selling my Mk7.5 and with the Jb4 it is an amazing machine.. just enough without too much.👍

-George if you want to make a JB4 for my Macan turbo 2017… I’m first in line 😉

to the forum -thanks for your support , I’m sure I’ll be back.
