Golf R 7.5 DSG service 80K Miles ??

Hi All 

 

Question my R is a 7.5 with 37k miles is due a service, I’m getting conflicting messages on a DSG service, main dealer says 80k miles another dealer says 40k miles - I’m leaning towards getting it done out of caution and getting the filter checked at the same time

 

thoughts ?

DSG or Haldex?
Haldex interval is 3 years.  Might need an Indy to do it to ensure the strainer/filter/screen gets cleaned. 
DSG interval is 80k (70k?) and massive.   I’ll be getting mine done long, long before that or even year 7/8.

I bought mine with 30k on and had both done with a filter clean on the haldex for good measure.

I will probably be doing them again soon as nearly 50k now, but will do it myself.

I'd prefer to spend a couple of hundred quid maintaining it than a couple of grand replacing it but I also don't drive it like Miss Daisy.

I had my DSG done at 4 years. I didn’t fancy an 80k interval as it would take me forever to get there.

VW recommends 40k for the 6 speed and 80k for the 7 speed. 
 

I personally would change it at 40k or year 5, whichever comes first.

Yeah. It is the DQ250 v DQ381 confusion. The earlier box in Mk7s and the latter box in Mk7.5s. As others have said 40/80k respectively but I would probably do the DQ381 before 80k. Maybe 50,60 but just because 80k seems a lot, and vw tend to be keen on pushing things out for their running cost and fleet costs. etc. even with some consequences.

No actual experience of the dq381 box myself though.

Thanks for the reply guys, im leaning towards getting the DSG service done, 80k doesn't really feel right - the car is now just over 4 years old, the car has over the last 2 years just done a lot of short trips (like most I guess)

 

Looks like its going to be an expensive month ha!

I will probably get mine done this year, 5 years old my car will be beginning of june (that time has flown) and on 39k miles now.

 

Just need to decide who does the DSG oil change, also might need to do the haldex again as that was done at year 3, so might be due a change now being year 5.
