AHG
Not BT, it’s actually WiFi, which is why it’s more sensitive to the surroundings (many parking lots have WiFi transmitters that are very strong, for VoIP calls etc). Does it happen when your phone is connected with a wire to the car or just of wireless ?
Scudgie
A couple of months ago I was experiencing frequent Android Auto drop outs whilst my phone was connected using the USB cable (to charge it). So I disconnected the USB and instead used only the WIFI to connect and it's been faultless since. AHG

Underground car parks and I can lose it completly? Never had this problem with any other car I’ve had?

Since tuesday it regularly disconnects and reconnects. Has never done it before. It’s strange, and I assumed it must have been some update, but if you had it a while ago then I guess not. Yeah well I was just sitting in the car the other day with ignition on and screen off(multimedia off) mounting my catalyst 2 and i jumped and hit my head when Spotify started playing in the car speakers Good song but hell of a suprise. BT is short range low energy so it shouldn’t cut off as it is quite immune to interference WiFi is higher range and energy (and bandwidth) so it may drop if interference exists Which one is cutting out for you ? if it’s CarPlay it’s WiFi not BT Try a cable and turn off WiFi in the car and the phone On 12/06/2026 at 02:10, Indecision said: I use a cable but that’s purely because the wireless charging is 💩. I do the same, WiFi for CarPlay drains the battery and I dislike MagSafe charging for prolonged periods of times so I just connect and have the WiFi turned off both in the car and on my phone (reduces cut offs to nearly zero). Sounds like a OS update that the apps haven’t adapted to yet, they should fix it themselves. We just have to wait. Also, have the WiFi turned off both in the car and on the phone. For me it reduced cut offs to nearly zero (when it was on they tried connecting wirelessly even when on cable) Indecision

If you turn off the WiFi it will work on cable only CP uses WiFi for data/music and BT only for phone calls Aaron7

I wonder of the change is that something is timing out much quicker than before? In other words this is an issue a few of us already had, but because it had a longer timeout before it never actually impacted us. Who knows - that’s pure guesswork! AHG
If the cable has gone bad just try a new cable Except for original Apple or VW cables most require replacing after a while on CarPlay (the same in the Tiguan) I believe what the other guys are describing is wireless connection loss

chipxtreme
So i've had issues with Android Auto not working since day one. 2025 Black Edition picked up 1st March 2025. Been into my local garage quite a few times, "not able to replicate it". Looking in this forum seems like loads of people are having same issue. My R is a weekend car so only has about 7k on it. Have zero issues with Android auto on my other car nor did I have any issues with my Mk8 GTD or Mk7.5 GTD. Recently upgraded my phone from Galaxy S25 Ultra to S26 Ultra and same issue. Sometimes it just won't connect at all, sometimes Android auto connects, you get the maps on the screen and youtube music shows the track its supposed to be playing but there's no audio. Sometimes I just get a black screen. Most of the time when I first get in the car it works, but say I go in a shop to buy something and get back in the car, probably 3 times out of 4 I am unable to reconnect the phone. Then next time it works again. So random. Got loads of videos on my phone of this happening but every time I go in, get fobbed off. Nearly 50k for a car without a fully working head unit, its an absolute joke. Edited July 8 by chipxtreme

Have you checked the option to start Android Auto automatically when locked (I know this is something the car's supposed to do automatically) and start media automatically? Dollyman
Went out the other day and drove about 20 miles. After about 3 hours went back and started the car and got a bong fest. DSG gearbox error, emergency assist not available, tyre pressure warnings etc. Drove another 15 miles and stopped for a couple of hours and when I went back started up with no errors. Is this the steering wheel issue or does it need the same update as the paddle issue? Thanks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
