Chris & Rebecca - thank you both for confirming!

Has anyone been able to confirm if the 19" Warmenau alloy wheels are available on the Black Edition with the diamond cut finish? The VW UK configurator shows that they are, but the broker's websites I've seen only list the all black version, which is also what's shown on the VW Germany configurator. Thanks!

Performance Pack Component Part numbers?

Hi Mark, Congratulations - can you confirm if it a gloss finish like the other black parts on the Mk 7, so everything matches? It’s hard to see from the photo -

Thanks, Ash. Like Mainframe, I'll be interested for the update when you have your first one to see if it's gloss black or satin black. Out of interest, what would you charge for fitting? I'm only about 20 minutes where you are... -

Do you know how additional spoiler attached? Is it some form of industrial tape or does it required drilling, or the like? -
First service - what oil do VW main dealers use?
neil_79 replied to neil_79's topic in VW Golf R MK7 Chat
Interesting about Qunatom and the link back to BP. Would anyone pay the extra and buy Castrol Edge Titanium themselves for the dealership to put in? -

Thanks for the quickl response. Do you think it's worth getting some Castrol Titanium FST and having them use that? Any idea how many litires I'd need? -
My R is booked in for its first service on Wednesday at a VW main dealer. However, I wanted to know what engine oil VW dealers use? I know it will be a 5-30 but do they use the latest Castrol Titatium FST? Many thanks Neil

I'm looking to get the MTM M-Cantronic box fitted to my Golf R, however, having just spoken to my new insurer (Aviva) they say they wouldn't be able to provide cover. Has anyone had a) any success in having their tuning box equipped R covered by Aviva or what insurers are more tuning box friendly? My policy does t start until 1 March so I can cancel for no cost now and switch to another insurer, but the clock is ticking... Any help would be much appreciated!

I've just past the milestone of nine months of ownership and having already undertaken some subtle modifications (eibach springs, fast road pads and discs, braided hoses, BCS cat-back exhaust) my thoughts are now turning to the engine. I know a few people on here have had the MTM M-Cantronic fitted and I'm very keen to hear about your experiences having lived with the system for a while. More importantly have you had any issues at the dealers, even when the system has been removed. I know the system shouldn't flag TD1 as it's not removing the OE ECU, but I thought I read somewhere a couple of months ago that VW had launched additional flags including 'potential tuning box'? Finally, I know lots of people will say that a dedicated ECU remap will deliver better results, or other tuning boxes such as the JB1 can do the same for much less, but I live near QST and I like the fact MTM offer a warranty stand behind their product. Thanks in advance of your replies.

I've been running DBA 4000 T3 slotted rotors with Brembo Sport pads and HEL braided hoses at the front and DBA 4000 rotors at the back for the last 5000 miles and I've been really pleased. Granted I've yet to do any track days, but from all the fast road driving I've done, I've never once felt like the brakes were starting to suffer or fade; just a firm progressive pedal feel with plenty power.

High Performance Brakes (Excl BBK)

I've been running the eibachs for about 2 months and 1500 miles with 19" Prets and DCC and I'm really impressed. For me, the very subtle drop works perfectly, but thebthing I really like is that the car still rides pretty much like it did on the size spteings (just a touch firmer, maybe 5%) but the handling is significantly improved. I can't comment on how they compare to VWR or H&R, but for me he Eibachs offer the perfect compromise of daily usability with improved handling.

I'm running DBA 4000 T3 slotted front disc, with Brembo Sport front pads and HEL front and rear brake lines and I'm hugely impressed with the performace the set up offers for fast road work. Despite being slotted, the DBA discs are silent and the Brembo Sport pads are E90 compliant, so have the anti rattle shims and brake pad wear lead. I can't comment on how they compare with a full BBK set-up or on track yet, but the performance so far means I don't have any doubts about their ability to deal with track work. Hope this helps, Neil

Hi Nige, You've managed to make my car look far cleaner than it actually was! Many thanks to you and Dave yesterday for your time, conversation and hospitality. Like all things in life, exhausts are a personal thing and what works for one person, may not work for another. However, that said, I'm delighted with the system. The drive back south yesterday involved some long periods of fast cruising along the motorway and the system was just what I wanted; no drone or boom, just very subtly noticeable, but never intrusive. The journey home was rounded off with a drive along some A and B roads and again, the exhaust delivered. When pressing on, the exhaust delivers what can only be described an incredible sound, with cracks on each upshift, which I never envisaged would be possible from a somewhat humble VW four cylinder unit. How you do it, I don't know, but I guess that's why you and Dave run a successful specialist exhaust company and I don't!

If I remember, it's €7 plus tax for 2 hours (unlimited what you can do in that time) or €30 plus tax for the day.
